Sofi Gev Details When Infatuation Becomes Obsession In New Single ‘Softspoken Eyes’

Sofi Gev Details When Infatuation Becomes Obsession In New Single 'Softspoken Eyes'
Sofi Gev Details When Infatuation Becomes Obsession In New Single 'Softspoken Eyes'

We are pleased to introduce Hannah Lovelady, the gifted American singer-songwriter and indie pop musician responsible for the beautiful solo project, Sofi Gev.

Sofi began honing her abilities at an early age, writing comic songs of her own and teaching herself how to play the piano and the French horn. She also performed in unique musical productions.

Her unconventional method of honing her melodic sense entailed singing cookbook recipes to accompany her father strumming an acoustic guitar. This laid the groundwork for her subsequent achievements in the music industry.

The music of Sofi Gev combines beautiful vocals with contemplative and offbeat lyrical content, all of which is woven over a hazy combination of indie pop, electronica, and indie folk.

Sofi cites her father’s nightly renditions of Joni Mitchell songs as her earliest and most enduring musical influence. She draws inspiration from artists such as Birdy, Aurora, Maggie Rogers, Coeur de Pirate, Regina Spektor, Shara Nova of My Brightest Diamond, and Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes. Sofi also credits artists such as Birdy, Aurora, Maggie Rogers, and Coeur de Pirate.

Her song “Softspoken Eyes” is particularly noteworthy since it explores the sensation of falling profoundly in love with another person.

The music is able to portray the keen awareness of every aspect of that individual, from the person’s dress to the subtle emotions on their face to the way they walk.

Nevertheless, when the want for a more profound connection increases, it paradoxically drives the object of love farther away, which only heightens the sense of absence.

The music of Sofi Gev combines vulnerability, creative expression, and passionate energy, and it encourages listeners to accompany her on an emotional journey.

Your heart will be captivated by her mesmerising songs, and you will find yourself completely immersed in the enchanted realm of indie pop.

Sensational Singer Olla Tells A Love Story In 'Prana'

Following the release of her debut single Monte-carlo, sensational singer Olla displays her rich and authentic voice in her latest single which she titles Prana.

The intro to the song is a perfect opening, her smooth voice on the serene beat welcomes the listener into the love world. The beat starts on a low tone but as it progresses it becomes melodic, a tone set for couples.

The lyrics of Prana tell Olla is a sucker for love, and how she sings the lyrics to the song is therapeutic, and mind-boggling, setting the mood right for lovers, it is a slow jam that I believe was tailored specifically for lovers.

The title Prana title comes from yogic teaching and is translated from Sanskrit as “life force energy” or “breath of life”.

When asked about the main inspiration behind the song, this is what she had to say

“I feel my prana through love, which I believe is the greatest power on Earth. It is a healing, fulfilling and inspiring force that does conquer all”.

She added

“There is an obvious romance in this song, which is meant to be so as this track is my anniversary present to my main supporter and the source of my inspiration”.

The emotions with which Olla sang Prana can be felt individually, I believe that is because the lyrics were inspired by her life experiences.

Rewinding the Clock with "One Step Stereo" by Tape Deck Terrorist

Hailing from the debut album “Sounds From The Akai,” Tape Deck Terrorist’s “One Step Stereo” has been generating buzz in the hip-hop community. This talented newcomer brings a potent mix of old school vibes, imaginative wordplay, and a raw, stripped-down beat that both pays homage to the rap’s golden age of the 1980s and 1990s and contributes something new and exciting to the genre.

From the very beginning, “One Step Stereo” takes the listener back to an era when hip-hop was still finding its feet while rapidly becoming into the global behemoth it is today. The unpretentious beat—comprising a kick drum, snare, and a handful of well-placed samples—boasts a straightforward yet catchy charm. This minimalistic production approach allows Tape Deck Terrorist’s impressive vocal skills and lyrical ingenuity to take center stage.

The young artist showcases a talent for threading complex wordplay throughout his verses. His verbal gymnastics evoke the mastery of golden age legends such as Big Daddy Kane and Rakim, while his relaxed delivery harkens back to the silky smoothness of Slick Rick. It’s evident that Tape Deck Terrorist has done his homework, learning from the greats while refining his own unique voice.

Though deeply rooted in ’80s and ’90s rap influences, “One Step Stereo” transcends mere nostalgia. Tape Deck Terrorist distinguishes himself from his predecessors with a distinct voice and a fresh take on storytelling. As part of the songs from “Sounds From The Akai,” this track sets the stage for an album brimming with riveting stories and inventive wordplay.

“One Step Stereo” offers a remarkable introduction to Tape Deck Terrorist, showcasing his deep respect for the genre’s foundations and his unwavering dedication to lyrical artistry. Medse Releases Hounds Unto The Dancefloor

Medse is a Swedish music producer who is heavily influenced by some of the greats like Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Justice, and Mr.Oizo, his music is usually a mix between Electronic rhythms and Grime-styled vocals.

His latest single Hounds is a perfect sample of that, Hounds is an energetic electronic banger with punchy rap vocals about growing up in the ’90s and facing all the strange qualities of this modern day. Grime influences. It a surprisingly punchy.

I find the lyrics to the song rather interesting as it ridicules how things are done in our modern day. The lyrics of the song can easily be related to people born in the 90s, the feelings of being alienated from today’s rap scene, all the mumble-rap songs, and the dream of becoming rich and successful.

Hounds draw attention to the pretense that everything is fine and under control, whereas it is not, trying hard to adjust to how it works especially social media. Not only does Hounds have an interesting wordplay, but the beats are danceable and catchy.

A good dose of comedy and a top-notch vocal delivery make this track a very, very entertaining experience. Hounds was produced by no other but Medse himself.

With heartfelt introspection, Lane reflects on various phases of his life, showcasing his impressive lyrical prowess against a backdrop of traditional country instrumentation. In Common Country Misconceptions, he explores recurring themes in country music.

Lane reminds us that even when we find happiness, it’s natural to feel the weight of expectation to maintain it. However, he gently encourages his listeners to accept that life will always have ups and downs and that embracing our humanity is a beautiful and necessary part of the journey.

Join us as we dive deeper into Podge Lane’s musical career and his latest venture, Common Country Misconceptions—an album that not only entertains but also enlightens us on the complexities of life and our ever-evolving emotions.

How long have you been making music and what attracted you to it?
I’ve been making music since I was about 17. I always had a love for music, but never actually gave it a go, or even sang, until a school show where I was asked to sing a Lumineers song.

Immediately I fell in love with…. well the attention. Then after my parents asked if I wanted a guitar, I began writing my songs, and that’s when I was hooked. I love writing music, creating something that wasn’t there, and being able to say “Hey I wish there was a song that said this” and then just doing it! I was writing every night, studying music till all hours, and that’s when I knew this was all I ever wanted to do.

What were your first project and the people you worked with and which year?
Well, the first songs I wrote were for school shows and things like that, and then I met a great group of musicians in college who inspired me to bring out my first two singles in 2018.

In typical me fashion, instead of using any song I had written to this point, I wrote two new songs in the studio called “The Dark” and “Move On”. They’re still out there on Spotify, on the deluxe version of my double EP “People/Break”. I am still so proud of those songs. As a jumping-off point, they nailed the Podge Lane mission statement.

Irish Singer Podge Lane Unveils An Unskippable Album
Irish Singer Podge Lane Unveils An Unskippable Album

Who or what inspires you or motivates you? And why?
I’m just like a musical pigeon, I take anything I can from anywhere I can. I am super inspired by music ranging anywhere from country to rap. It may not be obvious when you’re listening, but I love listening to acts like The White Stripes and Jpegmafia when writing or recording. They have that essence of everything that goes into the take, the good the bad and the ugly.

As for motivation, well I’m motivated by the idea of having a large back catalogue someday. I want someone to find my music and go “Woah I have a lot I can listen to here”. I love acts like Johnny Cash or Buffy Sainte Marie, which I’ve been a fan of for years but I am still finding new albums of theirs. That’s my motivation, to create a large body of work that travels.

What are your friends and parents thoughts on your career in singing?
Man, my parents were super supportive. When I got offered my college courses, I was going to do law. Me? A Lawyer? As a kid, you’re so scared to choose something that doesn’t have a “set” career path, but they always told me as long as I’m happy they don’t care. No one in my family plays music, I could be speaking French for all they know when explaining chords. But they supported me from day one. And I’m very lucky. (I better get unreal Christmas presents for this interview, everyone.)

What are some of the challenges you face in your career path?
Challenge-wise, I would say my demands or lack of demands I guess. I love capturing chaos on a record and leaving structures to fall away, and that can be very hard sometimes, which I understand. There is a method to the madness, which is why I play nearly everything myself on the album!

That and starting at 17, I felt like I was coming into music as a newbie while everyone else had been doing it for years. But both challenges made me grow as an artist, and keep me running for more, whether it’s getting better at bass for the next album, or learning new melody ideas, it keeps things fresh and exciting!

There’s always going to be a challenge, at every step, and while that can be extremely difficult, I try to find ways to work through those challenges and make the challenges work for me. Work smarter, and then work harder I guess. Man, that’s a lot of work. Then nap.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
It’s a give-and-take. As someone who digests as much music as possible, I get burnt out with the internet. However, I think if it wasn’t there I wouldn’t know half the music I know now. The good outweighs the bad in my head.

It allowed people to create and distribute without the need for labels and studios, which is great to help independent artists. I think it has made the music community bigger, spanning the globe, but also at times, because there are so many voices, people can tend to be more insular. When there’s so much output and people feel they can’t support those around them as there is only so much space, that can be a difficult challenge to navigate.

There’s good and bad to everything, but I think the more voices that get to be heard is a great thing, everyone should get to tell their own story. Maybe the internet is a space where you can find a voice you haven’t heard before, I try to find artists I haven’t come across before on Bandcamp, it’s important to keep exploring the music that’s out there. Because there are some incredible stories to hear.

Do you have any advice for aspiring songwriters?
Write. No seriously. Just grab a pen and paper right now, and right two lines that rhyme. Boom, you’re writing a song. Now do it again and play a g note underneath it on any instrument. You got a song. I know it sounds simple, but I feel like so many people say “Oh I can’t write until I have the right vocal technique, or mic or pedal”. Just right a few lines every day and you’ll see how easy it is. Write acapella, or with an instrument, you can’t play. But please don’t listen to people who criticize your snare drum sound, just write a song.

What is your current project about?
Common Country Misconceptions is a thematic and direct follow-up to my debut album “Outer Monologues”. While my debut album tells the story of awkwardness in youth, tough nights, and getting to a happy place in your life, CCM details the moment after the credits roll.

It’s just an album asking, “huh, I’m happy, what now, what do I have to complain about or write about?”. A lot because I wrote this album pretty quickly and in an almost fully realized burst.

I detail being in the wrong in an argument with someone you love and owning up to your mistakes, talking over people, and trying to find your “Common Sense” that people keep telling you that you’ve lost. It’s the little moments that you learn from after the big moments that led you to where you are.

What does this album mean to you?
It means a lot. I mean this in the least self-aggrandizing way, but I’ve never really heard a full album detail these thoughts. I’ve had songs or artists in my life touch on the weird inconsistencies in happiness, but not for a full album.

So it means I’ve accomplished a huge goal of mine with this album, and that’s having something for others to listen to and go “Oh he thought that as well? I thought I was the only one”.

What are your hobbies?
Playing Nintendo Switch, watching wrestling, collecting vinyl. You know, adulting.

What do you do aside from this profession?
I love all facets of music. So my main love outside of playing music is teaching music. I love showing songwriting techniques to people, and encouraging people young and old to write and create, that’s my big passion outside of the whole “Podge Lane” stuff.

What is one message you would give to your fans?
No, you’re not the only one, keep listening to music and keep being your big ole goofy self!

Molly Baker Shares Her Inspirations In A Recent Interview
Molly Baker Shares Her Inspirations In A Recent Interview

Since childhood, Molly baker has gravitated to music, something she used as a medium to express her deepest thoughts and emotions. Molly Baker has capitalized on using lyrics to share what goes on in her head with larger people, and she has been very successful with that.

Her latest single Beautiful Chaos’ is the first song release of her debut album (Plot Twist) from Molly Baker. In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh, Molly Baker shared the main inspiration behind her latest single, she said

“My song is called Beautiful Chaos because to me, that’s the embodiment of high school. There is so much chaos going through our lives, with homework, extracurriculars, and absolutely no sleep. But there’s something so beautiful about how it unifies us all and brings us to our closest friends. All in all, to me, high school is a Beautiful Chaos!!”

The inspirations behind beautiful chaos are relatable and valid, but not only limited to high school as even outside high school we sometimes find it difficult to navigate through our day-to-day activities

More of this was shared in the interview, not only did she talk about her latest single, but she also touched on some of the challenges she’s been facing through her musical journey

Getting used to massive amounts of homework and studying night after night. Football games, prom, and homecoming are indeed a few of the memories that we all have from high school. ‘Beautiful Chaos’ is locked and loaded full of high school moments.

What is your stage name
⁃ I don’t use a stage name! I actually tried to think of one a while back but I liked staying more authentic and true to me; especially as I’ve started writing my own lyrics.

Where do you find inspiration/what is your main inspiration?
⁃ When telling my producer what I want a new track to sound like, I typically find inspiration in songs/albums I’m listening to at the moment. Lyrically I find inspiration in real life situations I’ve been through, or in stories I’ve heard my friends tell.

Lyric inspiration isn’t always that straightforward though – one of the songs I’ve written came from a phrase I kept hearing over and over! Me and Jenni Rudolph formed a story off of that, which was super fun.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
⁃ I always knew I was interested in music. I loved singing ever since I was born, and I started playing my first instrument (piano) when I was in first grade. Music has been something I’ve always appreciated since I’m more introverted, and can express myself through songs and their lyrics 🙂

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

⁃ My Dad was in a few small bands growing up and can play a little bit of guitar. When I was just getting started, he was the one who would record my vocals! He also built my home studio that I used while recording my upcoming album. He’s definitely my biggest supporter! My mom and I love to listen to music on the radio, but she’s more crafty than musical.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

⁃ this is a tough question to answer as there isn’t a specific person that comes to my mind. I started singing and recording when I was really young (around 10) and loved it so much that I decided to continue. Entering the music industry felt like a decision to continue pursuing my passion at the time, rather than deciding I wanted to be just like someone I admired.

I started singing and recording when I was really young (around 10) and loved it so much that I decided to continue.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
⁃ I took some vocal lessons when I was younger, but my most influential teachers have been my piano teacher (Victoria Fox) and my guitar teacher (Josh Dixon). They’ve taught me for years now, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them! I learned songwriting through my topliner Jenni Rudolph, who wanted to collaborate with me since from the start of our project together.

In my musical past, my topliner (person who writes the lyrics and melody) would typically take their job on themselves, but Jenni went out of her way to include me in the process. She has such an amazing mind and I look at lyrics so differently after writing with her for 6 months!

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
⁃ My own, maybe? Surprisingly I’ve never been to a real concert before – but I’ve put on small live concerts and performances and have been to SOO many open mics to see growing artists! I did snag tickets to the Eras Tour though, and I’m sooo excited for that to be my first concert!

How could you describe your music?

⁃ My music is definitely made for teenagers looking for upbeat, fun, angsty, emotion filled songs with deep lyrics to dive into.

Describe your creative process.

⁃ First, I’ll send a list of songs I’m obsessed with to my producer so he has inspiration while making my new track. He’ll produce a bunch of tracks based off of notes I give him and I’ll pick my favorite from the bunch, then get on a zoom and start writing!!

It normally takes three/four writing sessions to get lyrics done. Then I’ll record in my home studio, and send the vocals to my producer. He edits them until we have a final mix everyone is happy with! Then it gets sent off for mastering, which is like a final edit. Finally I promote my song to the world!

What musician do you admire most and why?

⁃ This is probably an answer everyone would expect from a fifteen year old girl, but I am a Taylor Swift fan for life. I admire how she can write, sing, and create the instrumentals for all of her tracks, which is something I want to do someday!! She is also an INCREDIBLE performer live. She’s definitely an inspiration and I would love to meet her someday!!

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

⁃ Definitely! I was making more bubblegum pop/EDM music early on and have evolved into pop-rock songs.

Who do you see as your main competitor?
⁃ Social Media has created a new way of releasing music, making it way harder to promote music than it was 20 years ago. Any growing artist who has mastered the algorithm is someone I envy + consider a competitor! Most people don’t realize that after you create music, you have to play the role of an influencer to get your songs out.

What are your interests outside of music?
⁃ I love collecting vinyls – I know it’s technically music related, but since it’s not me creating music I thought it might still work! I have a whole wall of them in my room and I feel like listening to music is free therapy. I love to read and write, bake, cook, and run in my free time!!

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
⁃ This question is hard to answer because I’m so young and am still learning my interests as I grow! I honestly have no clue, but whatever it is, I would be sure to keep music as a hobby since it’s so important to how I live my life.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music/If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
⁃ Definitely what I said earlier about social media. I feel like nowadays the popular songs on the billboard charts are trending tiktok songs, and music is becoming less about deep lyrics and more about a good beat drop. Keeping my songs true to me but also making sure they have a part with the potential to go viral has been a difficult thing to figure out!

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
⁃ My song is called Beautiful Chaos because to me, that’s the embodiment of high school. There is so much chaos going through our lives, with homework, extracurriculars, and absolutely no sleep. But there’s something so beautiful about how it unifies us all and brings us to our closest friends. All in all, to me, high school is a Beautiful Chaos!!

What are your plans for the coming months?
⁃ I plan to start playing live more, as open mics become more frequent in the spring/summer. I also plan to try new ways of getting the word out about Beautiful Chaos!! New songs will also be released…. follow @mollybakermusic on all platforms to stay tuned 😉

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
⁃ Besides collaborating with Jenni on lyrics, nope! But I am definitely open to doing so!

What message would you like to give to your fans?
⁃ Thank you SO much for supporting a growing artist! I appreciate any bit of support I get, and I am so happy that I get the chance to make your day a little bit brighter with my music. And pay attention to my lyrics!! Some of the songs I’ll be releasing soon all interconnect 😁!

Proklaim Comes Through With A Brand New One - Somebody

After the first review I did for Proklaim I knew he had some more tricks up his sleeves, and I’m glad I stuck with him, just as I thought, he has a niche when it comes to this rap song. with each record he produces he gets better than the previous version of him, this makes it listening to him refreshing.

His lyricism is something that cannot be overlooked, how he crafts his words to bring the essence of the song is a skill only a few possess, yet those familiar with Proklaim’s brand of opulent, descriptive rap will be aware of his singular tone.

For all his stylistic versatility, Proklaim’s greatest strength remains his ability to rap stories with a compelling mix of reality and conscious vibes. He dives into that skillset on “Somebody” an affecting story of self-growth and supremacy.

Somebody by Proklaim draws attention to the rapper’s great songwriting skills that capture the entirety of his aim and goals as a rapper. The punchlines, delivery, and timing are all clear indications of his prowess.

One distinct feature about proclaim is how he starts his song, he goes hard on the first verse, no time to waste before you realize you start nodding your head to the song thanks to the perfect sync between the lyrics and the beat.

Piling writing details, he evokes the real-time anxiety that can come from the uncertainties of becoming one of the best in one’s field.

It all starts from me having a melody which I record into a phone, then I will sing random words to it. I am very melodically driven so the hook and melody is everything. I will then go to my keyboardist who will then transcribe and harmonize the idea/demo I have.

From there I will jam with my band and expand and grow the idea. Then I will go to the studio and rearrange what we have to become greater with help from other songs I was influenced by when writing it.

What is your main inspiration?
Michael Jackson again, I want to create magic and perform to thousands and thousands of people. Make them leave in awe.

What musician do you admire most and why?

Again Michael Jackson, I think he was so amazing at what he did and he worked extremely hard at his craft. I thought Thriller and what they did with that music video was amazing and when I saw that as a kid I knew that what I wanted to do.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

Yes very much so. I started out doing pop music which was more soul and R&B vibes to it. I did enjoy that type of music but I didn’t have a lot of creative input with the producer I was working with. I also didn’t really know what kind of music and artist I wanted to be. Kind of like high school, no one really has a clue on who they are or what they want to do.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

I don’t really view anyone as a competitor because I don’t try and emulate or copy anyone. I certainly have influences but I am my own artist and I am on my own journey.

What are your interests outside of music?

I love sport, and hanging with my friends.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

Probably working in finance as a credit analysis or something like that.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

Finance ironically. Being an independent artist with no label behind you can be difficult. You don’t have endless amounts of funds so music as an independent artist certainly takes more time.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Probably how saturated the market is. I think having a higher quality of musicians in a smaller pool would be better, but unfortunately know everyone with technology can create music and put it out to the world, which makes it a lot harder.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

Well I didn’t write the song, my keyboardist did and I loved the melody and kept humming it when he first showed it to me in 2018. I knew I had to have it on the record. I re-worked the lyrics and arrangement a little and added the 3rd verse which I wrote.

What are your plans for the coming months?

I am doing a music video for Table 17, as well as getting ready to release the second single.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans

Not at the moment, maybe in the ps future I might do some features. I just have some much music I need to do alone for now.

What message would you like to give to your fans?
I don’t really have many fans at the moment, but for people that enjoy my music, I thank you for taking the time to listen to me. It means a lot. I never set out to do music for anyone else but myself, but when people also take time to listen to it. That to me is the greatest form of appreciation I can have.
