What would you say is your greatest strength as an artist?
I would say my ability to navigate different genres of music while staying consistent and accurate to my voice is something I’m proud of and have developed over the past couple of years.

What is your creative process when making music?
I have a few different creative processes – one more free form when I’m creating with my main collaborator, Joel Woods, where we get to experiment with sounds and ideas on the spot and come up with ideas on the mic, so to speak, which is always so much fun & then I have a more thought out approach to creating which is usually me alone in my studio coming up with different song concepts and melodies.

The Meteoric Rise Of Vanda A Multi-Talented Singer
The Meteoric Rise Of Vanda A Multi-Talented Singer

How long have you been making music and what attracted you to it?
I started writing music at age 12. I come from a family of musicians, so growing up around music definitely played a huge role in developing my love and passion for it! I performed in my first musical at 3 years old and caught the performing bug very early on but once I learned about the concept of songwriting, I was completely hooked on it & decided to dedicate my life to music right then and there.

What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome as a band/artist so far?
I think being an independent artist comes with many challenges. As a female, I have dealt with my fair share of misogyny in the industry. Because of those experiences, it was essential for me to claim autonomy over my sound which is what initially prompted me to get into producing. Once I was able to have more confidence in my ability to communicate my ideas, a lot of the challenges I faced in the past started to dissipate and clear up more room for the art I wanted to make!

What streaming sites do you think offer the most value to a band?
Although I wish Spotify paid their artists more, I do think they’ve developed a great tool for music discovery and listener experience. As an artist, I’ve been able to reach new fans through user-generated Spotify playlisting and tools such as Radio, Discovery etc. And as a listener, I love the ease of the Spotify experience – but, I do think there need to be big changes made to support the artists who make it possible for them to exist!

How do you think social media or the internet has affected the music scene in your country?
Tiktok & IG reels are huge in the U.S. & such powerful connective tools. I am a big fan of both personally and professionally!

What are your friends and parents thoughts on your career?
I have a great support system. All of my family and friends are behind my career & are always very encouraging, even at times when I suffer from self-doubt. I feel extremely blessed, because I know for some families, pursuing art is frowned upon but I think because I come from a family of artists, pursuing my passion was celebrated instead of frowned upon.

What does your current song mean to you?
“Indigo” will always be special to me because it’s the first track I’ve released as the executive producer. It came together very quickly at home where I was sort of writing it and creating the atmosphere at the same time. I wanted the soundscape to feel like a dream state, grounded with lyrics from real-life experiences. It was important for me to keep it pretty lo-fi while making sure to keep the shimmer & sparkle in there, which is what I think makes it pretty unique!

What is one message you would give to your fans?
Just a big thank you to everyone who has streamed my music over the past couple of years. Feeling like I am, even in a small way, contributing to someone’s day with music is something I hold super close to my heart and am grateful for every day. It motivates me to keep going and creating – I just hope to continue connecting and making people feel something through music.

Keep an eye on this remarkable artist as she continues to make waves in the music world and get ready to be swept away by the irresistible allure of her upcoming album, “Sober in Another Life.”

Vanda’s journey is just beginning, and there’s no telling what heights she’ll reach as she continues to captivate audiences with her undeniable talent and infectious sound.

What is your stage name?

– V of 40M

Is there a story behind your stage name?
– It was already written. The Creator put it in motion many eons ago you feel me. They called me V and I rep the M’s, heavy on the 4’s. We did some releases under “V” and searching just the letter V on anything wasn’t going to work so we brought it to the music you know.

Where do you find inspiration?
– The message is the motivation. 40M and all other movements, organizations, groups, etc will get our s*** together and when we do – independence is ours.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
– Music has been a big part since the beginning of this journey, mom had a radio that played music 24hrs a day. My Poppop and GrandMa were in the local Gospel group when I was small, etc. Then, since and prior, music has been a part of it all you dig.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

– i am the first of my particular bloodline but in my extended, I have a cousin – Stevie Wellons who has had success as an independent act. Also a nephew, Kimani, who is doing his thing in Gospel/R&B I believe.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
– The resources and platform for 40M is what inspires me. I’m not trying to be no rapper for real, I just know what can done with what comes with it.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
– Ya’ll already know our people got it like that, s*** comes with the package at birth. The Creator is too good you feel me. Put the time in the fine tune your craft and you will see results.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
– Seen artist perform but never really been to a concert so I’ll get back to yall on that.

How could you describe your music?

– Truth.

Describe your creative process.

– I just let the Creator, the ancestors and the beat tell me what to do. I add a little sauce, add a little structure to the plate and voila!

What is your main inspiration?
– The people.

What musician do you admire most and why?
– Too many to count and for an assortment of different reasons but among them are Peter Tosh/Bob Marley and Public Enemy

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

– Most definite, evolution is a part of growth you feel me.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

– i have none. Ain’t no competition, only opposition. Every motherf***er who opposes my people, the movement or the message in any form. From the government down to the passive supporters of it and all in between, you either the opps or the potential opps and we don’t rock with such.

What are your interests outside of music?
– The Creator/Source, Universe and the ancestors. Besides that my people, my family and the M’s. Big 40 on deck!

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

– What I am doing now in and outside of the music, revolutionizing my people.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
– Resources, financing and opportunity. Most Black artist have the same issues anyway, at least initially, but because the M’s music is what it is – it’s especially hard you know.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
– Control. The industry and all its extended components have too much control over not just our people, the whole world. The control belongs the people.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
– It’s lit a** title, would’ve been BLK PWR (Black Power) but I didn’t want to give away too much of the sauce or end up running motherf***ers away with the title before they even hear it.

What are your plans for the coming months?

– More M s***! More music, more visuals, more platforms, more work, more community projects and more awareness. We building, M by M – day by day!

– Tap in! If you are Black or what we call a “Melanite” then this is for you! @Vof40M on all platorms, get in tune! If you are not, f*** with the vibes anyway – you know we lit for real!

Gabriel Bishop Impresses With “Fall Together”

Gabriel Bishop Impresses With "Fall Together"
Gabriel Bishop Impresses With "Fall Together"

From the sun-soaked streets of Brisbane, the multi-faceted artist Gabriel Bishop, the solo project of talented producer Harry Wells, has crafted an unforgettable sonic experience in his latest single, “Fall Together.” Gabriel Bishop continues to establish his unique blend of early 2000s hip-hop & RnB, and folk roots in this release, unveiling a new side to his persona and deftly blending vulnerability and raw emotion with an undeniable energy.

“Fall Together” emerges as a follow-up to the playfully flirtatious first single of 2023, “Off My Mind,” and stands as a testament to the emotional range and depth of Bishop’s artistry. Through the song’s emotionally-charged lyrics and infectious pop-ballad melodies, Bishop addresses the daunting prospect of uncertain love, urging his audience to dive headfirst into it despite the risks.

The genius of “Fall Together” lies in its intricate fusion of different musical elements – an exhilarating mix of EDM synths, South American rhythms, and tender vocals. Gabriel’s ability to navigate the delicate balance between intimate storytelling and anthemic soundscapes speaks to the sophistication of his writing and production skills. The result is a single that feels both timeless and incredibly relevant, as it taps into our innate desire for connection and the trepidation that often accompanies it.

One cannot help but think of Justin Timberlake’s earlier works when listening to “Fall Together.” However, Gabriel Bishop distinguishes himself by incorporating elements of folk songwriting into his music, evoking the raw and stripped-down essence of artists like Ben Howard or Damien Rice. This masterful blend of styles and influences allows Bishop to stand out in an often-crowded genre and create a sound that is diverse yet unmistakably his own.

The vivid emotions conveyed through “Fall Together” are a testament to the fact that Harry Wells, as Gabriel Bishop, is an artist unafraid to delve into the depths of his heart and explore the complexities of love and human connection. This willingness to lay himself bare serves as a captivating invitation for listeners to join him on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, ultimately allowing them to “fall together” with the artist through his musical journey.

In conclusion, “Fall Together” is a powerful and engaging single that showcases Gabriel Bishop’s distinct voice and artistic vision. This single is guaranteed to appeal with a wide range of music aficionados due to its intricate blend of musical influences, sincere lyrics, and strong emotional core. As Bishop continues to evolve as an artist, it is thrilling to imagine where his talent and unyielding passion for music will take him next.

What is your stage name
The Magic Epic

Is there a story behind your stage name?
I intended to have a band once I’d recorded an album and after getting told my songs were epic more than once and my belief real music comes from the magic of the universe I decided that The Magic Epic would be the name that best represented my music.

Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration on the journey of life and convey my experiences , hopes and dreams through song .

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
I always remember what music I listened to in significant times in my life.
I think music is best described as a sound track to life.
Music has always been my best friend to get me through the hardest times and accompany me on the best.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?
Both of my grandfathers were musical , one played drums in the army band and the other played piano around south London bars.

I also have an uncle that had a number one record in Germany with a band called the Bermuda Triangle .

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I am more inspired to keep music alive than anything else and restore it back to its former golden era.
Watching a live show passenger in pink pop really lit something in me that I had to record my songs finally .

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I thought myself pretty much everything apart from the first chords I learnt on guitar , by repetition.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
The first real concert I ever saw was guns n roses , it was epic

How could you describe your music?
A bit of the the last 7 decades combined .

Describe your creative process.
It all starts with a feeling, which is the title of the intro track to my first album.
I will usually start a new song whilst doodling on the guitar or piano , I use these instruments to release my feelings like meditation I guess and I will hit upon something I think sounds amazing, then I will sing the initial melody once I’m totally connected to the tune , I then freestyle and words will come to me and then it’s all about playing it over and over till it takes its best and most natural direction.
I never work with the best until the song is the song , as I feel that a meaningful song is more about melody than anything else.

Once I’m fairly happy with the ghost version , I go to the studio where I work with my friend and producer Andy Brook and under my direction we put the track together and I always run through different options for the lyrics with Andy until we have the finished piece .

What is your main inspiration?
My main inspiration is not to get to the end of my life with the music still inside me.

What musician do you admire most and why?

I think I admire Elvis Presley the most as he changed the face of music , his self belief was out of this world, his voice charisma and presence haven’t been seen since, there’s a bit of Elvis in so much music .

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
My style evolved hugely through out the years , I had to stop performing covers to truly find my own style and step away from Listening to music for a while completely for that process to happen .

Who do you see as your main competitor?

I don’t see any competition as that’s not what music is , my music is unique to me so therefore shouldn’t be compared.

What are your interests outside of music?

I live by the ocean and spend a lot of time by the beach , I love animals , mindfulness , working out , boxing and cycling

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
I am music so I am lost without it , I can’t imagine what else I’d be doing but I know I wouldn’t be happy

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
I think the biggest problem is that people don’t buy records or cds so it’s a lot of work and investment that is hard to get much return from unless you are selling out big stadiums , which is a struggle when the biggest struggle is getting the music to peoples ears in this time.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
I would stop the record companies brainwashing the public with low vibrational genres of music that are usually bad for society and the conscious vibration of the planet

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
It just came to me with the music at the same time .

What are your plans for the coming months?
I have 2 more singles and an album coming so I am now focusing on making live videos so people can hear the songs in their natural state as well as the fully produced versions

'Wait For The Sun' Is An Inspirational Single By Pretty

For Torin Craig, the lead vocals for Pretty, Wait For The Sun is not just a literal saying but a gateway to escape all the depression, and despair, that most people have to battle with on a daily basis.

This is how he said it

“It was winter during a lockdown, and I was living in a pretty bleak apartment, quite literally waiting for the sun to come back in the spring. The song is about yearning for the end of depression and despair, and trying to hold the memories of better feelings to remind yourself that no matter how bad something is, it will end, or at least change.”

Wait For The Sun is an inspirational song a blend of garage punk with retro guitar riffs, the raw and hazzy vocals on the song gives the tune a different feel, emphasizing the lyrics of the song.

The band is constantly expanding their wings and breaking into new barriers, the previous year saw the hard work and determination of the band. The band had a busy year in 2022, producing their second EP as a follow-up to their debut album Sertraline Dream (2020), performing in front of larger and more enthusiastic crowds, and becoming featured acts for Canadian Music Week, Exclaim! Jonny And The Jazzuits Proclaims 'I Can See Clearly Now'

Jonny And The Jazzuits is a four-piece band that is heavily rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the band aims at giving hope to the downhearted and strength to the weak, and light to the lost.

The band is greatly inspired by the word of God and that serves as the main inspiration for the band, yet the quartet has another source of inspiration which is Jazz, the love they have for these two necessitated them to blend them together, and that was where “Jazzuitswas born.

In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh, the band shared the origin of the band name, they said

Yes! It’s a sort of play on words with the word ‘Jesuits’. We aren’t actually jesuits, but we do love Jesus and jazz – hence the name Jazzuits!

What is your stage name:

Jonny & the Jazzuits

Is there a story behind your stage name?

Yes! It’s a sort of play on words with the word ‘Jesuits’. We aren’t actually jesuits, but we do love Jesus and jazz – hence the name Jazzuits!

Where do you find inspiration?

Our primary inspiration is God’s Word – the Bible. It is a book that has stood the test of time and offers inspiration for both this life and the next.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

Jonny (bandleader) started playing piano aged 8, but the changed to woodwind instruments when he attended Christ’s Hospital school in Horsham, England. There was also a military band there and the school would march into lunch each day. Also there was a school big band that Jonny played in that got him hooked on that genre of music.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

My grandfather (who lived to be 102) played the piano. He was more into classical music. Not really anyone else in my family.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

It probably started with the legendary Ben Webster (tenor saxophonist), but also Louis Armstrong and other jazz artists.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

Had music lessons from an ex marines bandmaster on clarinet and saxophone, and sang in the school choir as head chorister.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

Wow! That’s a difficult one to remember. I do remember going to see the British All Stars – a jazz band that were touring the Middle East when my father was based in Bahrain. The clarinet player had a few too many to drink, and so in the break I had to step in to play (aged 15).

How could you describe your music?

We play ‘heavenly jazz gospel’. It’s got it’s roots in jazz music but it’s all about Jesus!

Describe your creative process:

Lyrics or melodies can come to me at different times. I always record ideas. Later I finish the song and then go to Gert-Jan, the pianist to get the arrangement finished. This is followed by 2 full band rehearsals. Then the song can get played in on gigs.

What is your main inspiration?

Jesus Christ

What musician do you admire most and why?

Gosh! This is again a difficult one to answer. I think I admire any musician that has struggled to get heard and stays committed to making something beautiful.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

Yes. I started as a professional aged 18 played in traditional jazz bands. This developed into more contemporary jazz and songwriting myself.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

We don’t really have many doing what we’re doing – jazz for Jesus – but in The Netherlands where we’re based Maria Markesini is now going for more jazz gospel. She has a new album coming out soon called ‘Nearer’. Well worth checking out!

What are your interests outside of music?

Reading, running, snooker.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

Probably something with computers – IT or something like that. I’d probably be a lot more well off financially! Haha!

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

In this line of work it is often quite underpaid, and that can be a challenge, but I always say … it beats working in a mine!

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Better paid streams on Spotify!

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

Well, this single I Can See Clearly Now 🌈 is actually a forerunner for the album Songs of Deliverance 🌊 which we are recording mid April 2023. That title is based on a classic bible verse:
“You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.” – Psalm 32:7 NKJV 🙏🏻🙌🏻📖

What are your plans for the coming months?

Recording 13 tracks 13-15 April
Trip to Israel in June
Playing a Davos Klosters Sounds Good jazz festival in Switzerland in July!

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?

Yes, on the album we’ll be teaming up with Elisa Krijgsman (gtr), Maria Markesini (vocal), and Amy Perry from Selah in the US. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Stay close to Jesus, and know that He will surround you with Songs of Deliverance. For those who’d like to support our present crowdfunding campaign click the link: bit.ly/jazzuits-crowdfunding3

In the sea of emerging artists, it’s not often that you stumble upon a single that genuinely stops you in your tracks. But, that’s precisely what happened when I first listened to “Her” by Pierce Braedon. The singer-songwriter has crafted an enchanting dream-pop tune that’s equal parts relaxing and easy listening. This dreamy love song appears to drift into the mind and stay there for a while after the last note has been played.

One of the most striking aspects of “Her” is the male vocals, as Pierce Braedon’s voice resonates with emotion, honesty, and vulnerability. His vocal delivery is at once soothing and achingly raw, captivating listeners with his unique ability to tap into the complex emotions of love and loss. Comparisons to artists like Jeff Buckley or even James Blake wouldn’t be misplaced, as the passion Braedon pours into his work is evident in every note.

The instrumentation in “Her” serves as the perfect backdrop for Braedon’s emotive vocals. It’s a delicate blend of soft keys, subdued synths, and gentle percussion, all contributing to the dream-pop, alt-pop atmosphere that makes this single so compelling. The instrumentals gradually intensify as the song goes on, reaching an intense emotional crescendo that leaves listeners gasping for air.

The lyrics of “Her” hit deep, as Pierce Braedon concocts a whirl of emotion with his eclectic alt/pop sound that connects in a sentiment of hopeful loneliness. The poignant line, “everything we dreamed about is happening, but without you,” perfectly encapsulates the bittersweet reality of achieving your dreams but not having that special someone by your side to share in those moments. It’s a theme that will resonate with many listeners, as we’ve all felt that mixture of happiness and longing for the people we’ve left behind in pursuit of our aspirations.

“Her” by Pierce Braedon is a beautifully crafted love song that defies simple categorization. It’s a song that will certainly find a home in the hearts of many due to its calming and easygoing mood, airy dream-pop melodies, and heartbreaking lyrics. Every component of this outstanding track showcases Braedon’s skill as a singer-songwriter, and I for one can’t wait to listen to his next release!

“Glonky” by J Cru – The Party Anthem We’ve All Been Waiting For

"Glonky" by J Cru - The Party Anthem We've All Been Waiting For
"Glonky" by J Cru - The Party Anthem We've All Been Waiting For

There’s a fresh party anthem hitting the scene, and it’s posing the ultimate question of our era: “Are you feeling Glonky?” LA-based rap duo J Cru, comprised of J Geezy and J Smitty, has joined forces with the rising star INJI to concoct the catchiest and glonkiest hip-hop jam of the year: “Glonky.” The tune finds its muse in the notorious “Glonky interview” that went viral on YouTube, featuring a comically intoxicated man attempting to finish song lyrics. This delightfully wacky and unanticipated inspiration meshes perfectly with the larger-than-life personas of J Cru and INJI.

“Glonky” is a contagious, high-energy anthem encapsulating the quintessential pre-game, party, and after-party vibe. The music carries you away and immerses you in a world of wild celebrations, leaving you no choice but to groove along. It’s a journey J Cru and INJI invite their listeners on, and trust me, you won’t want to pass up this wild ride.

The song’s production is top-tier, expertly blending contemporary hip-hop flair with classic rap vibes. The energy never falters, maintaining an irresistibly danceable atmosphere from start to finish. The lighthearted use of synths sets a festive stage that pairs seamlessly with J Cru and INJI’s sharp-witted, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, delivered with natural swagger.

When it comes to the lyrics, “Glonky” offers a a hoard of treasure of side-splitting one-liners and catchy hooks. The rappers’ wit and humor shine as they cleverly riff on the absurdity of the viral “Glonky interview.” The result? A track that doesn’t take itself too seriously, inviting listeners to join in on the ridiculous fun and let loose.

J Cru’s distinctive quirky flow and lyrical prowess harken back to OutKast at their best. This fusion of influences, paired with their own singular style, generates a sound that’s both nostalgic and innovative. It’s not often you come across a hip-hop track that can be both conscious of one’s own joy and not afraid to show it, but “Glonky” pulls it off with finesse.

At its heart, “Glonky” is a party anthem that transcends its viral roots to become a bona fide hymn for those chasing a good time. It serves as a reminder not to take life too seriously and to embrace our inner glonkiness. Standing apart from the introspective tracks that often saturate the hip-hop scene, “Glonky” provides the perfect soundtrack for an unforgettable night out with friends.

So, the question lingers: “Are you feeling Glonky?” If not, give this track a spin and get ready to be engulfed in the unfiltered, uninhibited joy that J Cru and INJI have masterfully crafted. And if you’re already feeling Glonky? Buckle up for the ride of your life.

Even without any proper knowledge of how to play the bass, the love Grichu had for music pushed her to start her first band, she never gave up on becoming one of the best as she strived to make long-lasting sounds that can be enjoyed across, regardless of the language barrier.

Talk of music that can be enjoyed by everybody, I would like to introduce you to the latest single by Grichu Ma Ma. After being in several bands Grichu decided to try EDM on her own, with only her laptop as a music partner

Everything you hear in Ma Ma was by her, the sound, instruments, and production, she did everything from start to finish.

Before I could say jack, I found myself dancing to Ma Ma by Grichu, honestly writing this review was quite tough, I could not stop myself from dancing, and this is the type of music the multitalented artist Grichu aims to produce. Songs that sweep you off your feet before you realize it.

Growing up in an artistic family really had a huge influence on her and the type of music she likes to produce.

In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh, Grichu shared how her growing process was, she said;

“I learnt how to sing in karaokes. Then I created my first band, barely knowing how to play 2 notes on the bass, but it didn’t matter cause we were all beginners. That’s how I learnt. I’ve always learned by doing”

She went on to say;

“Took me a couple of years to master my production software, and now I am moving towards deepening other topics of interest, like sound design and bass groove.”

More of this was shared in the interview, she also touched on some of the challenges in the music industry amongst other things.

What is your stage name
Grichu

Is there a story behind your stage name?

Yes! It actually comes from my hair. When I was little, my hair was curly and frizzy. In French we call this “Grichou” hair.

Where do you find inspiration?
Most of my lyrical inspiration for this upcoming short album comes from the news. As for the music, inspiration comes from the tracks I like and play in clubs. I spend well around 15 h/week researching new music and the very best remix for each track, and my goal as a Dj is always to find the danciest catchiest material to play on the dancefloor.

After a few years of doing this, the songs have created an inprint in my head, and when I write, I catch myself using some elements reminiscent of the songs I play: a slurred vocal here, just like Philippe Katerine. A little rap there, in the style of Kah-Lo. A tape stop effect, just like in that Kid Goodman’s remix that I like. I often realize well after the song has been written, how much of an influence the tracks in my repertoire have on my writing.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

My parents were very big on music. My dad always played songs that got me emotionally. So very early on, I got an understanding of the power of music on my mood, and later realized that the ones that hit me the hardest were hits, most of the time. Songs that hit you, they hit everybody else’s feelings too. That’s how they become “hits”: they are songs that people wanna hear over and over again cause it brings up a certain emotion in them.

Are you from a musical or artistic family
?
My mum loved to sing, we used to sing together all the time, as early as when I was 3 years old. On my mother’s side, pretty much all of my cousins play some kind of instrument as a hobby. On my dad’s side, I have 4 cousins, and 3 of them studied the conservatory, and are now playing in an orchestra: Dillon and Talia Hatcher, and Antonin Cuerrier. Dillon married another musician: Sarah Arsenault, she writes music for a very famous children’s show in Quebec, called Passe-Partout. So yes, it runs in the family.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

Originally it was Patti Smith. I fell in love with her deep dark voice, her rebel attitude, and one very specific song, her cover of Gloria. It was that song that made me to want to sing in front of people.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I learnt how to sing in karaokes. Then I created my first band, barely knowing how to play 2 notes on the bass, but it didn’t matter cause we were all beginners. That’s how I learnt. I’ve always learned by doing. A couple of Youtube tutorials, and there you go! You are a Youtube PHD!
she I’m grateful for online classes like EDMTips, DMP (Dance Music Production), Warp Academy, Zen World, and so many more! I’m also grateful I’ve had access to feedback from my peers that helped me improve my songs tremendously.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
I don’t remember the first one to be honest! But the most memorable so far was Dj Tizi! I saw her this February at Montreal en Lumières and she was absolutely crushing it! Her remix of Edith Piaf’s La Foule just absolutely blew my mind! I’ve been watching most shows online now, my favorite being Miss Shelton’s Twitch livestream. She’s constantly on the lookout for new bangers to spin and share, and I love her style!

How could you describe your music?

My songs are always a mix of genres. Ma Ma is somewhat of a Italo-House song with French lyrics. Two of my upcoming songs will be in the Grunge-Dance style. And the last one is a cheeky little one, driving and dancy, almost synth wavey, but definitely uplifting and bouncy. It’s actually the bounciest of them all, but I can’t quite put a genre on it. I guess you’ll be in for a surprise this summer!

Describe your creative process.

I take one hour each day to fiddle with the piano and mic, with the goal of finding catchy motifs. Most days it’s just crap and I move on to other tasks but when I find something I like, I spend the whole day beefing up the idea. I come back the next day to see if I still like it. Usually I don’t. But if I do, that song’s got something.

I then make a rough arrangement, write the vocals, record, re-write the vocals, re-record, polish up the track for a few months, then send it out to mixing and mastering. Approximately one song out of 60 will make it to completion.

I don’t see the point of releasing a song I’m not 100% excited about. Strangely, a lot of the inspiration for the track will come to me when I’m about to take a nap, or in the shower. I quickly hum the part in my iPhone not to forget it, then integrate it to the track. It comes to me when my head is empty.

I always feel as though someone is whispering the song to me, I just have to take notes of what is playing in my head to catch it before it vanishes.

What is your main inspiration?
Currently I’d say club songs. This is very deliberate, cause making dance tracks doesn’t come 100% naturally to me yet. I come from an alternative/indie background, so I’ve had to study the dance part. I definitely think the indie/alt influence gives my tracks a crunchier texture than just regular dance tracks. I think that the mix of both genres is fun to listen to, and fun to make.

What musician do you admire most and why?
Dj Dark. He makes excellent remixes, and outputs a lot of songs per year. He has excellent musical taste: I’m absolutely hooked to his weekly podcast featuring his weekly discoveries.

I always find gems there for my own sets! I admire a lot of other Dj remixers, I follow about 75 of them on YouTube to be notified when they put stuff out, and the reason I love them so much is that their releases are pretty consistent: most of the time, they just make good songs.

For me, of all musicians, Dj producers that make remixes, those are my heroes. They can turn pretty much any track into a dance floor banger, like magic! That’s the kind of superpower I wanna acquire!

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
Absolutely! I used to write more indie stuff. Being a Dj was an absolute game-changer for me! I had noticed a long time ago that most of the tracks I liked came from Djs, but didn’t know why. Until I became one. Being a Dj, most of what you’re asked to play is dance songs. People will hire you for this 99.5% of the time.

This means you spend all your free time listening to dance tracks, and all your gigs playing dance tracks as well. Your brain works in the background to decipher the recipe and eventually you become able to cook it yourself.

Unless you’re completely immersed in it it’s more difficult to get the recipe right. It’s like learning Spanish in a class vs going to Mexico for 4 months. You learn way faster in Mexico.

Who do you see as your main competitor?
AI, lol! But not in the style that I’m making, at least not for now. As for real human beings, if I hear someone making music in the same style as I am, I’ll make damn sure I treat them as allies, not enemies, and invite them to collaborate on one of my releases!

What are your interests outside of music?

Friends and family. Growth in all areas of my life. Health & fitness.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing
?
Nothing lights me up as much as music. I’d just be doing the same thing while working at 3 other jobs for substance. But I’ve been fortunate enough to meet an amazing Dj booker that finds me killer gigs, allowing me to make a living out of playing music. That’s François Lemoine from DJMTL, he’s in charge of all my bookings.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
Staying the course and being focus. Giving up security. I’ve given myself this year to go all out, which means I’m taking in less paid gigs, so that I can focus on doubling down on my producer abilities.

There is always a temptation to trade my time for money, but work is not going anywhere, there will always be work, so I can say no to one opportunity and there will be something similar next month if I need it.

The way I see it, I gotta focus on growing my producer abilities, because this is the best thing I have to offer to people: writing dancy uplifting music that makes people happy.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
I would shift the money balance in favour of the artists vs what we have right now, which is that the record labels and digital music providers are making 89% of the money, leaving only 11% to artists. This is why I have yet to meet more than 5 musicians that actually make a living out of music.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
I was looking for something that wouldn’t sound too cliché, nor too kitch, honestly I thought of calling this original “Maman”, but I was afraid it would make the song look like a ballad, so I went for Ma Ma that sounded just right, bouncy, short, and fun.

What are your plans for the coming months?
I’ll be de-constructing some of my favorite remixes to learn from them. After that, my goal is to write 2 remixes per month for one year. Always a mix of genres, always dancy. Remixes take me less time to make than originals, so I can learn from them faster than when I work on originals.

The goal is to get faster at producing music. When I’m satisfied with my updated production speed, I’ll get back to making originals.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans

I want to collaborate with fellow Dj Producers in the club-dance genre for my remixes. This collaboration will cut production time even further (cause there will be two of us writing the song), allowing me to output more songs per year.

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Thank you for listening! Just keep on dancing! A full Ep is coming soon! Stay tuned!

Reilly Shares Sentiments In 'New Year Same Me'

REILLY is an Irish-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who had his breakthrough in 2022, releasing both his debut single and debut Ep. Although professionally he recently started making music in 2022, Reilly seems nothing like that, a clear indication he has a niche for music production.

He is a multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, and also delving into electronic music creating his own techno beats and songs at home with the use of synthesizers, etc.

His latest single New Year Same Me is psychedelic, it’s actually the type of music that goes deep into your soul and sets you free from all your worries. New Year Same Me is a ballad where the singer acknowledges the presence of a new yeah, but nothing has really changed about him.

His unique songwriting skills are boldly put into action, allowing the theme of the song to stand out, while the lyrics of the song are connecting, a ballad sending a message that can only be felt through music.

The 4 minutes 06 seconds song showcases his musicianship and extraordinary craftsmanship, one mindboggling aspect of New Year Same Me is how easily he is able to blend the lyrics to perfectly synchronize on a rock pop beat.

The chorus of the Me New Year Same says it all about the disposition of the singer, his tone and composure help to transport his feelings throughout the song. the hook is very catchy and addictive, it lays emphasis on the growth of Reilly.

If this is the result of his experiences in 2 years, then you can only imagine the goodies he has in stock.
