Sofi Gev Makes A Cover Of Bat For Lashes With “Laura”

Sofi Gev Makes A Cover Of Bat For Lashes With “Laura”
Sofi Gev Makes A Cover Of Bat For Lashes With “Laura”

American singer cum songwriter, Sofi Gev is here with the cover of Bat For Lashes and she calls it “Laura”.

This cover was inspired by her admiration and admiration for one of the best female musicians of our time, Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes.

She wanted to be authentic to the original while still injecting her own personality into it.  They created the song’s distinctive piano melody on a French Connection analog synth, then added Moog bass, strings, and electric guitar to give character and emotion.

This is certainly one you should pay attention to. It is such a feel-good song!

Hannah Lovelady is an American singer-songwriter and indie pop musician who goes under the moniker Sofi Gev.

Her music, which is influenced by artists such as Birdy, Aurora, Maggie Rogers, Coeur De Pirate, Regina Spektor, Shara Nova of My Brightest Diamond, and Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes, layers introspective, offbeat lyrics and delicate vocals over a dreamy blend of indie pop, electronica, and indie folk.

Her father’s singing Joni Mitchell songs to her as a youngster was her earliest and most lasting musical impact.

Sofi Gev’s songwriting career began when she was a youngster, when she would occupy herself on family road trips by putting up goofy tunes with her younger sister.

She began playing the French horn in middle school band class after taking piano lessons and proceeded to high school.

She cultivated her sense of melody by singing the lyrics of cookbook recipes as her father played acoustic guitar.

If you actually listen to Sofi, you will hear a lady fearlessly, hesitantly, but honestly embracing and confronting life expressed in an intimate yet generic way.

Lola Regenthal Calls Up Mike Stern For “Letter To Dad”

Lola Regenthal Calls Up Mike Stern For “Letter To Dad”
Lola Regenthal Calls Up Mike Stern For “Letter To Dad”

Swedish singer and songwriter, Lola Regenthal has finally unleashed her newest single “Letter To Dad” and she taps Mike Stern on this.

The jazzy singer-songwriter’s enveloping voice with amazing depth is combined with enticing tones from Mike Stern, one of the world’s leading guitarists.

Lola sings directly to her loving father in “Letter to Dad,” who unfortunately died after a long fight with illness.

With her flowing words, she focuses on the tiny things in everyday life that may elicit such strong memories of the people we care about the most.

Lola Regenthal is a Swedish songbird from the northern part of the country who traveled to the jazz capital of New York and achieved remarkable success.

Acclaimed performances at iconic venues like as The Bitter End, Metropolitan Room, and Shapeshifter Lab led to a deeper relationship with American jazz guitarist Mike Stern (Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Stan Getz, Michael Brecker, and others).

Mike and Lola remained in contact after she returned to Sweden to be with her family during her father’s sickness. Lola’s father was also a musician who was much influenced by Stern’s music.

Because of Lola’s relationship with Mike, her father was able to speak with his idol on the phone on multiple times, and they met via exciting chats about music. As a result, it was a simple option for Lola and Mike to collaborate on this homage to her father.

As said by her, “I wanted my dad’s song to feel just like the open landscape of Öland, where you can experience the tranquility and closeness to both nature and the sea. Therefore, the airy arrangement leaves a lot of room for both bigger sound and reflection. During Mike’s amazing solo, you can even hear a bird vaguely in the background that started singing outside the studio – I´m thinking it might have been Dad wanting to join in and play along with me and his friend. I hope my music can help us pause for a few minutes and reflect on the lovely things in life and cherish the fond memories we have of what has been lost. I wish that, just like with a movie, you listen through the whole song and allow yourself to really feel.”

The track is the first of four planned releases that will be included on an EP due out in 2022. The release of the CD heralds the beginning of a new chapter in Lola Regenthal’s musical career.

Lola had previously published the album “With You” on Seattle’s Origin Records, the EP “Bye Bye Baby” on Bergman recording, and has been on compilation albums in China.

Be That Person To “Rescue” Mïka Lewis On This New Tune

Minnesota-born musician, Mïka Lewis comes off with this new song she calls “Rescue” which is her third release on her forthcoming EP.

In “Rescue” she talks about being the kind to take on whatever is thrown at her, but each time she would need someone to come to her rescue. Having someone present, whether emotional or physical, may be really beneficial as this song is about that one person in your life that you’ve always been there for and who continues to come through for you no matter the circumstance. We all need such people in our lives and I know you can surely relate to this one. If you do, this is the one for you.

Mïka Lewis, a Minnesota native now residing in Los Angeles, has a delicate voice and classically educated piano talents that easily translate into her compassionate indie-pop style. Think Halsey meets Julia Wolf’s emotive tones.

Mïka’s strong vocal maintains the clear tone and indie spirit of the 90s alternative rock period, while her passionate lyrics and captivating songs reflect on the frequently unspoken hardships of life and love, earning her the moniker “a missing link in indie-pop.”

Jennifer Knapp was her first musical influence; her record was the first one she ever purchased, and she learned every song by heart within a few weeks of receiving it. Julia Wolf is now one of her main influences.

As said by Mïka, “I grew up in the church and music was a huge part of that and a part of my life basically since I could talk. And when I was 11 I decided to teach myself piano so I could write songs. And ever since then It’s been a huge part of me. And when I went on the journey at 17 years old to figure out what I believed and I decided I didn’t believe in God and didn’t wanna be religious anymore, I reevaluated everything and I found new purpose in my music and used it as an outlet for my feelings.”

Her debut single, “Happy” was released on all platforms on June 18, 2021. Listen to “Rescue” below and follow her on Instagram via @mikalewisfofficial

Brian Walker Debuts New Single “Ring Ring”

The year 2018 came to a close with the release of Brian Walker‘s first song, “Conflicted.” Since that time, his music has been played on many different radio stations, including 92.5 The River.

In the converted bedroom that serves as Walker’s home studio, he creates, writes, and records his music. His own life serves as a source of creativity for his songwriting, particularly the lyrics.

Walker’s catchy melodies tend to be more commercial pop, but his rhythms and harmonies are influenced by a wide range of musical styles and eras. Musically speaking.

Walker spent his childhood in the quaint New Hampshire community of East Kingston, working with his family on the Monahan Farm, a fruit and vegetable farm. At the age of five, he taught himself how to play the piano by recreating songs by ear that he had heard on the radio.

I Used To Be Sam Is Very “Gentle” On This New Song

I Used To Be Sam Is Very “Gentle” On This New Song
I Used To Be Sam Is Very “Gentle” On This New Song

Acclaimed singer, songwriter and recording artiste, I Used To Be Sam is here with her newest single dubbed “Gentle”.

There was a time before Annie Goodchild when there was Sam. After taking an Ancestry DNA test, the celebrated singer, songwriter, and recording artist discovered that she used to go by the name Samantha before she was adopted.

This discovery serves as the catalyst for their new single, ‘Gentle, and is the first single off Goodchild’s upcoming EP of the same name, an exploratory new collection of cinematic, left-field pop that will be released under their new artistic identity I Used To Be Sam.

Goodchild grew up in the suburbs of Boston, in “a full-on Irish home,” listening to ’90s hip-hop and R’nB and singing in church choirs, idolizing “the great female vocalists” Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Janis Joplin.

Annie founded Melou with a diverse and brilliant group of musicians after taking an impulsive journey to Guatemala at the age of 18 and performed around Western Europe and the United States for five years.

Following international success as a featured performer for Scott Bradlee’s musical collaboration Postmodern Jukebox, Goodchild started their solo career six years ago with the glittering vintage sounds of their debut EP ‘A Random Physical Sensation.’

Encouraged to go more, Goodchild struck up chats with other transracial adoptees (TRAs), and their shared experiences shaped I Used To Be Sam’s first EP’s highly intimate nature.

She hopes to utilize this new music as a vehicle to bring individuals with similar experiences together and to change the narrative around transracial adoption.

The release of the EP’s title track is the first of many chapters for I Used To Be Sam; it represents the artist’s boldest, freest, and most confronting music in their illustrious career.

With snappy rhythms, sampled physiological noises reworked as percussion, and cyclical snatches of recorded vocals that provide a lyrical pulse, the music soars and skitters; Goodchild’s voice quivering and yelling with a rawness that comes right from the pit of their stomach.

The songwriting is as adventurous as the author’s journey while composing their most ambitious and honest release to date. Watch the full video below.

Caitlin Quisenberry Presents Acoustic Version Of “Take Only What You Need”

Sensational American songstress, Caitlin Quisenberry has finally presented the acoustic version of “Take Only What You Need”.

Caitlin Quisenberry takes her most well-known songs and reduces them down to their most basic elements, including her vocals, with the help of legendary GRAMMY-winning guitarist Bryan Sutton.

The raw simplicity of this EP, produced by Ben Simonetti (#1 “Same Boat” with Zac Brown Band), creates space, allowing each song to be heard in a more intimate way. It has clarity that can only be found in acoustic music. Listen to “Nashville Stripped” here.

As said by Caitlin, “The idea for stripping down my songs came from LIVE performances where I’ve sung my music acapella. People commented that they would love for me to put out music with just me singing with a guitar.”

“So, this EP is really a response to those comments. I think it’s important to listen closely to your fanbase and give them what they want. Personally, when I listen to acoustic music, I feel more connected to the artist and the lyrics because it’s void of any other distractions.” she added.

Caitlin has been featured in American Songwriter, Country Note, Westword, and ThinkTankNashville, and was called “Nashville’s Newest Darling” by Hype Magazine. Caitlin began singing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped since.

She began recording with multi-GRAMMY-winning producer Robert Cutarella when she was 14 years old, and the next year, she was cast on American Idol, where she won a Golden Ticket and was propelled into Hollywood.

Caitlin developed her skills further while in college, studying in Switzerland with the famous opera soprano Karine Mkrtchyan.

The Colorado native has teamed up with producers Ben Simonetti (#1 with Zac Brown Band), Sal Oliveri (#1 with P!nk and Chris Stapleton), and Jason Wyatt (Top-40 artist) to create music that relates to ordinary life and readily understandable interpersonal interactions.

Charles Fauna Presents Brand New Song “Diner”

Charles Fauna Presents Brand New Song “Diner”
Charles Fauna Presents Brand New Song “Diner”

Los Angeles, CA singer, Charles Fauna bounces back onto the music scenes with this new song named “Diner”.

“Diner” oozes with passion and active thought from the first beat drop and atmospherics. It’s the sort of tune that makes you want to take the long road home so you can pretend you’re in a music video.

You can’t help but believe Charles Fauna is speaking directly to you as the chorus begins.

On what actually inspired the song, Charles says, “Diner was inspired by New Order, Coldplay and classic 80’s pop. Diner is a story song. It’s about a teenage girl whose mother is absent. Her father was always reluctant to have children, only really doing so for the mother. So when the mom is out of the picture the father withdraws from the daughter. He can’t look at her without being reminded of the wife that he will never have again. The girl is left alone in her pain because of her father’s behavior. She decides that if her birth family won’t be there for her, that she must venture forth to create a new family of her own. The open choruses of this song are meant to soundtrack her driving away from that childhood home, pedal to the metal, heartbroken yet for the first time in her life – truly free”

Charles Fauna has always been lured to the glamor and glam of the show industry, as well as the theatrical character of it. Charles’ father, a television producer, allowed him to accompany him to award presentations and concerts.

Even back then, Charles had a feeling it will be him on stage one day. Before moving on to his teen songwriting phase, he took drum classes and taught himself piano.

When college rolled around, though, the prospect of pursuing a full-time career seemed too intimidating. As a result, he enrolled at NYU to study Sociology and relegated music-making to his dorm room.

However, as the years passed, Charles became part of a close-knit group of like-minded artists. At the age of 24, he created Paideia, an experimental music project.

As he gained confidence, he realized that adopting this pseudonym was a method of protecting himself from vulnerability, from completely owning his talent.

As a result, he dropped the stage name in 2017 and began recording songs under his real identity. With millions of streams, critical acclaim, and performance at SXSW, it’s safe to conclude that success has followed.

Eulogy, his debut EP, was published in 2019. Yonder, his debut album, was released in 2020. Listen to the new one below and follow him on social media via @charlesfauna on Instagram and Facebook.

United States duo, Blackbow is currently out with their latest single “Second Nature” which talks about love and positivity.

They describe the inspiration behind “Second Nature” Accas “the freeing feeling of being with someone that changes how you feel about yourself, caught off guard when you’re around them in the most positive and comfortable way.”

By stretching the boundaries of a specific genre, the duo experiments with a new sound. Smooth vocals from Jasmine Crowe and bright melodic rhythms from Brittni Paiva on ukulele and electric guitar are among the track’s calming features.

This mix produces a distinct and distinctive vibe with elements of reggae and tropical influence.

“‘Second Nature’ was influenced by our island roots since we are both from Hawaii and we’re brought up and raised around that kind of music and sound,” says the duo.

“We’d honestly never written anything with an island reggae vibe before, so we really wanted to explore it genre-wise as it’s something that’s always been inside both of us.” they added.

The song’s uplifting feelings were purposeful, as the pair credited reggae music with evoking the “spiritual sensation of global love,” which was the song’s ultimate objective.

Brittni Paiva, Jasmine Crowe, and Imua Garza produced the single, on which they also performed the keys, strings, and horns on.

The 3Music Awards presented a symphony of Ghana’s most talented musicians and performers on a night that was packed with glamour and spectacular performances.

One moment stood out in the explosive buzz of the evening: the beat wizard TwoBars winning the award for Producer of the Year for Song. This was the moment that stuck out the most.

It would be an understatement to say that industry buzz around TwoBars has been building up recently. He has been the driving force behind the scenes for many years, contributing rhythm and soul to songs that became iconic anthems.

He didn’t simply produce a hit; he built a global phenomenon with the song “Things Fall Apart,” which is an addictive combination of the sparkle of Afrobeat and the profound depth of Ghanaian highlife. It’s possible that Kofi Kinaata’s vocals were the voice to which we all sang, but TwoBars’ act included dancing on the stage.

The journey leading up to this zenith wasn’t a dash; rather, it was a marathon of dedication and perseverance. It is a testimonial to his flexibility as well as the faith that the industry’s most prominent figures invest in him because his portfolio is filled with partnerships.

The humility that TwoBars displayed as they were standing on that impressive platform and holding the prize that represents more than simply an honour was evident. He has never been just concerned with the rhythm; rather, he is concerned with the harmony, the teamwork, and the dance that takes place between an artist’s vision and a producer’s skill.

The 3Music Awards, for all their splendour, did more than merely shine a spotlight on various musicians. It shone a light on the producers, who are often the unsung heroes of the music industry.

They are the ones painstakingly arranging each piece in the massive mosaic of melodies, beats, and rhythms being created. And as TwoBars’ fame continues to rise, one thing becomes abundantly clear.

There is a producer with a vision, a heart, and an indisputable aptitude for making magic behind every fantastic tune. This year, we were treated to the beat of TwoBars; next year’s performance is likely to include even more complex rhythms.
