This includes celebrating and showcasing various shades of blackness, natural hair textures and diverse body types, as well as highlighting the unique experiences and perspectives of black women. These efforts aim to combat harmful stereotypes and promote self-love and acceptance within the black community. This new song by MIIA is, as the title suggests, very honest and authentic. You can argue about it after your first listen.
The powerful intonation of her vocals swiftly attracts you into her thoughts in the new song “OXIDE,” which bridges the gap between her past and now.
She creates such an atmosphere around the song that you can completely immerse yourself in it. Her feelings are palpable, and the way she expresses herself makes the song noteworthy.
According to her, “I wrote “Oxide” in the winter, up in the mountains of Norway; my favorite place on earth. Where I feel most at home. At that point, after a year of therapy and hibernation, I was at a very peaceful point in my healing process. I was finally able to write about something that had weighed on me for a long time. I love my father, more than I think he or anyone else will ever understand. But, relationships are complex. This song is the voice of my inner child. She used to have no voice at all. I had to write this song for her. Though I have said these words before, time and time again, the hurt never truly went away. So I had to write them down. My biggest hope (because there is hope!) is that hurt can, through honesty, become healing.”
The song has a very high replay value and features melodic chords, glittering synths, and emotion-charged voices that fly triumphantly over the moving beat.
This demonstrates how much she enjoys composing music because her writing style and flexibility with ideas are on prominent display in this song.
She excels throughout the four-minute song, displaying a strong feeling of outstanding musicianship and contentment.
The Norwegian singer clearly embodies the mindset of seeking accomplishment and the desire for something greater which is the feeling of optimism.
Kovacs Demonstrates She Is A "Child of Sin" On New Album
Currently, she is at the top when it comes to enlisting amazing and compelling artists that create the best songs.
Why compile such a list without including Kovacs? Her voice and the enthusiasm it transmits are wonderful, and we strongly suggest it.
To demonstrate this and more, she has released her latest track “Child of Sin,” which is taken from her newest album of the same name.
The album’s title track, “Child of Sin,” includes Till Lindemann. The song has a lot of variety, which is very powerful and efficient.
Every piece provided hurdles in terms of vocals both highs and lows, but the outcomes are spectacular, unquestionably the album’s centerpiece.
Talking of the creative process while making the song, Kovacs says “During the writing of “Child of Sin,” I immediately thought of Till, I wanted it to be a duet. The message is loud and clear, because you seldom hear a male and a female voice team up to bring a story to a song. We shot the video in November 2022 and that was the icing on the cake! Working with Till was a learning process for me, I feasted my eyes on every detail. A huge-ass set, 30 people working on a big short film. People really seem to believe in the song, the collaboration, and the message. It seems to touch them, which delights me to no end.”
It is really impassioned to listen to, and she remains loyal to herself throughout the album in her goal to have fans ride along with her.
You also get to comprehend her emotions and sentiments as she once again succeeds in making you want to listen to her.
vara Drops Deep And Reflective New Single "paranoia"
Again, music should feel this relevant and real, and vara does just that with her latest hit which is now available everywhere.
The new song, “paranoia,” featured the young and gifted singer delivering an amazing performance with each phrase she sang.
“paranoia,” which is both sensitive and pleasantly contemplative, brings a fragility yet to be seen by the young artist, carrying topics such as despair and realistic struggles with one’s psychological health.
vara’s voice and technique in the song contain a lot of sensations and emotions that will keep you hooked. You can’t say otherwise!
The way she conveys her views and ideas makes the song addictive, as she masters each lyric and emphasizes each one.
She speaks about topics that many singers avoid, and this is what sets her apart from her colleagues. She is that skilled at her craft.
Narratives of forbidden love and mental health difficulties are what draw fans to the young musician because of her genuine and sympathetic approach.
She clearly learns from the greatest, such as Taylor Swift, and musical influences such as Lana Del Rey, MARINA, and Billie Eilish inspire her greatly.

Hazlett Didn't "Hesitate" To Share His Newest Album
It’s a new year, so some new music isn’t a bad idea, and don’t worry, Hazlett has you covered.
He presently has a new song out called “Hesitate,” which is from his most recent album, “Bloom Mountain.”
The album has ten beautiful songs, each with its own distinct concept and style. We’re confident you can relate to at least one of them.
His musical aptitude and expertise are obvious, and you can bet he evolved tremendously, particularly with his vocals and composing technique.
The songs on the CD are fantastic and emotionally enticing, and they leave you wanting more of him.
Hazlett says, “I wanted to write this album differently, Hazlett says, “the songs are conversations being retold by a friend of a friend,” he reveals. “Anytime you pass another person’s story on, you embellish certain moments because those are the moments worth retelling. Certain details get a little hazy, and some are vivid as if they happened yesterday.”
Hazlett’s ballroom indie folk and huge memories will warm your soul but leave you crying. With his live performances and love of an engaging story, this contemporary traveler has earned a place in fans’ hearts.
We would appreciate it if you would give this new initiative a listen, and we are confident that you will not be disappointed.

Shanti Abbott is a Canadian musician and singer who now lives in Toronto. Her stage name is “Puma June.”
June has a dreamy, lush, experimental chamber-pop sound, laced with R&B, that evokes a hopeful sorrow via her contemplative songwriting. Puma June’s sound is hard to categorize because of her wide range of musical inspirations, which include Feist, Frank Ocean, and Stevie Wonder. She might be like if Lana Del Rey and Charlotte Day Wilson got together and had a child.
June spent her formative years in Barrie, Ontario, where she wrote songs and participated in musical initiatives in which she would later develop her skills on her own. June is a singer, pianist, guitarist, and violinist who was schooled in the Suzuki method.
June is best known for forming the folk duet “Shanti and Vale,” afterwards renamed “Concordia,” with her twin sister. Both a live album from 2012 and a 2019 single titled “Love Is Blind” were published on Bandcamp.
After releasing a single in 2019, the members of Concordia opted to concentrate on separate endeavours rather than pursuing a comeback with the band.
Throughout her formative years, June was a member of the Huronia Symphony Orchestra as well as other orchestras and indie-rock/folk bands, such as the House of Art in Barrie, the Hungry Lake in Toronto, and the Huronia Symphony Orchestra.
In 2020, June’s project “Puma June” was formed, a mashup of all the musical styles she had enjoyed as a young adult. This allowed June to finally establish her own, unique voice.
June wants to keep changing the topics of pop music by talking about the hard truths and traumatic experiences that help shape who we are. June writes songs and listens to music to help her deal with her own pain and the pain of others.
June has a strong political stance, with an emphasis on women’s rights and family trauma. She has experienced the pain and growth that result from these experiences. June has an alluring way of transforming sorrow into inspiring victories.
Estella Dawn's 'Not A Problem' Is A Very Introspective & Captivating Track
The singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Estella Dawn was born in New Zealand but now makes her home in the United States, contributing a wealth of talent and skill to the current state of the art in pop music.
Her albums, which she composes, records, and co-produces herself, perfectly encapsulate the labour of a life spent creating music.
Her music has a unique edge because she is able to mix parts that are both very delicate and very violent. This enables her to confidently cross genres.
The thoughtful song “Not A Problem” shows a well-honed poetic skill by balancing honesty and denial in a way that is both gripping and honest, and by using wordplay and personal details in equal amounts.
The tune draws the listener in slowly, but it’s hard to ignore how intense it gets as it goes on.
From the mind of Estella Dawn, a one-woman creative powerhouse, comes “Not A Problem,” the latest in a string of notable introspective releases. These honest, human reflections on modern pain and uncertainty reach out with a whole new level of purpose.
They build on a long history of composing, performing, recording, and producing music of the highest quality.
Every time I hear Estella talk, I’m more impressed by how she can be both professional and enthusiastic at the same time. Because of this, “Not A Problem” is the only song that can hold people’s attention with its literary depth and sincere truth.
Artistically balancing the admitted weakness and overindulgence in the comfort of ignorance as happiness, “Not A Problem” delves into emotional agony with a familiar air of desire.
Estella has reached a universal emotion by singing a heartbreakingly beautiful song with the perfect balance of self-assurance and yearning; the need for connection and the same wish to never be a burden is surprisingly familiar.
Estella’s obvious honesty and soul are on full display here, making for a striking depiction of real and contradictory emotions.
With its alluring blend of melodic resolution and short lyrical pain, “Not a Problem” expresses a desire to comprehend the human journey while acknowledging, at least in part, the bridges that have been burnt along the road.
With its alluring beat and catchy tune, “Not A Problem” changes the story totally, with lyrics that advocate self-destruction and rejection at the same time.
The song hits home because of its depth of knowledge and sheer determination in a single, powerful progression, proving once again that Estella Dawn is exactly what contemporary pop music needs.

A rising star in the world of gospel music is Jacquelyn Owens. Even while she may not be a household name just yet, her stirring voice and encouraging message are certain to make her a favourite among those who are passionate about gospel music.
Owens spent his childhood singing in the church choir in the little hamlet outside Chicago, Illinois, where he was born and reared in the United States. Her early exposure to gospel music sparked an early interest in the genre, and when she was a teenager, she started writing her own songs.
After graduating high school, Owens enrolled in a music programme at a nearby college, where she further developed her abilities as a singer and composer. During this period, she started singing at gospel festivals and local churches, and she rapidly established a name for herself as a skilled and devoted singer.
In 2019, Owens published her first studio album, titled “Lifter.” The album was well welcomed by both reviewers of gospel music and lovers of the genre. Many people praised Owens for her strong voice and the uplifting message conveyed in the lyrics of her songs.
Owens is motivated to utilise her songs to convey happiness and encourage people as her career continues to flourish, and she plans to do it via music. She is working on putting together a tour to play in a variety of states and, with any luck, overseas.

Jacquelyn Owens Is Thrilled To Announce The Release Of Her Latest Single “Kingdom”
Come along with us as she shares more about her musical career and the most recent release with us.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest musical influences are Hillsong, Brooke Ligertwood, Yebba, Lianne La Havas and Brandy.
What inspired you to write your latest album/song?
My latest project was written during the pandemic. I realized it held many of the themes in the Lord’s Prayer. It is basically a prayer in a song form.
What message do you hope to convey through your music?
I just want to inspire others. I do this in a few ways: sharing the principles of my faith, sharing my personal journey, and making sure the songs convey a positive message.
What was the most challenging aspect of recording your latest album?
The most challenging part was making sure the song wasn’t unoriginal. I pride myself on making music that sounds authentic and has elements that people might not expect from a typical “worship” song.
What has been your favourite moment or experience as a musician so far?
My favourite moments are collaborating with other songwriters. Creating with others usually allows for synergy which usually results in something you could have never created on your own.
How do you balance your personal life with your music career?
I just make sure to take music engagements I enjoy. So even while working I’m having fun. Creating music is therapeutic and something I do naturally so it is very much a part of my personal life anyway.
How do you handle negative criticism or feedback on your music?
I appreciate constructive criticism. I try to learn from it and not walk away offended. When feedback is negative but not constructive, I try not to take it personally and remember that many people value my music.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians trying to make it in the industry?
I would tell aspiring musicians to be themselves! I know it seems like basic advice, but many musicians are just emulating their idols. The world needs what YOU have to offer and usually, people feel and vibe with authenticity.
Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you’re excited about?
I am working to release a few more singles this year. I’ve written hundreds of songs but haven’t released many – so excited to finally get them heard.
Do you have any plans to branch out into other genres or styles of music?
In addition to Christian/Gospel, I also write songs that are just about life, love and my journey. I would love to release these songs in the near future too.
Renowned Composer Georg Óskar Shares 'Late Night Good Night' From His Forthcoming Album
Known for his work as a singer, lyricist, and composer, the acclaimed cross-disciplinary artist Georg Óskar made his debut as a solo artist with a professional recording in 2021 with the track “Walk on the Water.”
This song gave listeners their first exposure to a gifted and adventurous composer and producer who works in wide strokes, pulling from a hybrid analogue and electronic palette.
Georg Skar is originally from Iceland, however, he has made Oslo, Norway his home and present place of employment. He graduated with honours in 2009 from the renowned Akureyri School of Visual Arts in his native nation of Iceland. He attended the Faculty of Fine Art, Music, and Design in Bergen, Norway, and received his Master of Fine Arts degree there in 2016.
Since Skar’s graduation, his work has been shown in galleries throughout the globe, including in Europe, Asia, the United States, and other locations. The fresh new advanced song “Late Night Good Night” is taken from Georg skar’s upcoming debut album, “Worst Wait of Our Life,” which will be released soon.
“Late Night Good Night” is an experimental piece of electronic dance music that serves as a reflection on love, obsession, and the deterioration of Western civilisation. In addition to that, it is the first release by the artist to incorporate vocals.
The music opens with a timeless analogue bass, followed by some ambient synthesisers. A male singer goes up to the mike and delivers spoken word poetry. The subject matter of the poem is love, desire, and obsession. In response to the narrator’s praise, the film features three stunning ladies who strut their stuff for the camera.
The Debut LP as a whole has a significant amount of narration, an element that is uncommon in music produced nowadays. As a storyteller, he threw in his other artistic activity, which is painting, and this is the method that he used to convey his ideas to others.
Read on as he continues to speak about his music and discusses his whole history as an artist.
Renowned Composer Georg Óskar Shares ‘Late Night Good Night’ From His Forthcoming Album
Who are your biggest musical influences?
I have so wide range of tastes in music, to name a few :
Aphex Twin, Jóhann Jóhannsson, GusGus, Velvet Underground,
Daft Punk, Crystal Castles, Boards of Canada, Nirvana and a lot of grunge rock and something alternative sounding and experimental. I could be writing this list forever, my influences come from so many directions.
What inspired you to write your latest album/song?
Like so many when the pandemic came, I was stuck at home. Reflecting on what was going on in the world, then looking inwards, also at the world and us as a whole. This was now almost 3 years ago, I am a painter and I was stuck at home, because of the lockdown so I could not travel by train to my studio as usual.
I had to create something, make something happen, so I decided to make music, I sure did have a lot of time on my hands at the time being stuck at home and all that. I had the drive to do something new, so I started making music only with the intention of making something for myself, I was bored. Boredom mixed up with a chaotic world is pretty inspiring. The songs and the album as a whole is reflecting on the time we throw recently.
What message do you hope to convey through your music?
I want to bring mind-liked people together, reach out, and highlight certain places in ourselves that we either have denied or feel that we carry alone.
What was the most challenging aspect of recording your latest album?
As I come from another profession as a painter, I have been working mostly in solitude, there is my comfort zone to stay in my studio and work on something I like to see or hear. Or just for the sake of working, forget and be in a flow state.
For my debut album I invited the musician Anthony Johan Løvaas to play the guitar and take part in the tracks he felt something could be added to. He has the vocals for the track I am dead for example. My friend Þóroddur Ingvarsson, mixed the project and it went for mastering at Glow Cast Mastering in Berlin.
What I am trying to say here and what was the challenge for me was to work with others as I am so used to working alone, both as a producer and then working on my paintings. But what has been the stepping stone for this album to come to be, was teamwork. I learned so much both letting go in some sense, and getting good people to do the things I was no good at. I learned a lot from working with others which is so valuable.
What has been your favourite moment or experience as a musician so far?
This is my Debut album, and the past 3 years or so is very much my first experience in creating or composing music. I was a DJ in my early twenties, playing techno and house music but that is almost 17 years ago.
Then came a long break from everything music related, and it was not until last year I decided to go back into music, but now as a producer, vocalist and creator. I don’t consider myself to be a musician not in the sense I am mostly an artist which has different ways of expressing myself. My favourite thing will always be to create, to dwell in a space of creation that zone is highly addictive.
How do you balance your personal life with your music career?
It’s not a career yet, so it is pretty well-balanced.
How do you handle negative criticism or feedback on your music?
There are many ways to think about this. There will always be people who like your stuff and don’t like your stuff. That’s the way it is. Some criticism one can use and think about, other needs to be tossed out of the window or simply ignored.
I don’t control personal taste, or some specific this and that, maybe people don’t like the vocals or something else and so on. I come from a world of painting it’s the same there, not all like my paintings, will that mean I stop making paintings, of course not. Criticism is mostly a good thing and has to be available.
People obviously have the right to say what they feel when art goes into the world. And when one is so connected to what he or she makes it can be difficult to swallow some hard facts or harsh criticism, but if one can take that to improve oneself, it’s a good thing.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians trying to make it in the industry?
I have had a very simple and naive theory since I was really young and that is simply if you like it very likely somebody out there will like it too. Keep working hard at the things you like to do in life.
I have not made it in the music industry this is just general advice which helped me in my creativity and kept my hopes higher when I lived in a small town in the north of Iceland, where my hometown was not a boiling pot when it comes to culture, so I had to be naive and simple-minded to get closer to the place I vision for my self.
Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you’re excited about?
Yes, I do! I have been making music recently, I will let my LP Worst Wait of Our Life, gets its time. Then I start releasing some of my other stuff.
Do you have any plans to branch out into other genres or styles of music?
I can’t stay that, I don’t even know in what genre I belong, I just keep creating things which resonate and makes sense to me. I listen to all kinds of genres myself, but I am less mindful of that when I make my own music. It will continue to be electronic-based with some slow-burn vocals which is maybe the only thing I know for sure.

With compelling discourses, the track explores a commentary about dying on a hill, as he explains,
“The lyrics aren’t about what I personally believe.” Everywhere I look, people are spouting their beliefs while contradicting themselves in the same breath. I wanted this song to capture the energy of how divided the world has become.”
Huffman is known for his strong vocals, melodies that soar, and alt-rock-inspired rhythms. His music is a mix of rock sounds and the sounds of the 1920s. He also combines rock influences with the sound of the 1920s.

Lola Coker Returns With An Untouchable Single Named 'Fire'
Lola Coker is a performer, singer, and songwriter who is driven by her enthusiasm. Lola began her professional career by performing in several talent programs.
Lola Coker loves music, and she adores the process of creating things that evoke emotion in other people. She gleans ideas for songs from my day-to-day life, my dreams, and many other kinds of art so that she may channel those ideas into a song and share it with you.
The Senate and General Assembly of New Jersey presented Lola with a Citation, Commendation, and Praise to recognize her achievements. In addition, the Mayor and Council of Burlington Township presented her with a Certificate of Recognition, and the Burlington Township Board of Education presented her with a Congratulations award.
It doesn’t matter how musically talented a person is or isn’t; being able to express oneself via music is wonderful. She was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles throughout her childhood, and it was fortunate for her that she was able to hear how diverse and original music can be.
It’s astonishing that our minds can come up with so many new sounds and combinations, even if there are so many different types of music and subcategories within those types. In the world of music, there are no borders. She is drawn to the field of music because it is such a beautiful art form, and the potential to make a contribution to that beauty is what captivates her.
Lola’s father gave her a PreSonus AudioBox as a present when she was somewhere in the neighbourhood of 13 years old. By putting cover songs on YouTube, she slowly learned what she needed to know to record and make her own music.
She continued to do so on and off over the course of many years until she finally built up the courage to make her own unique beats, and then, ultimately, whole songs.
Brian Walker Talks About His Experience With Toxic Vibes In Latest Single 'Red Flags'
In the converted bedroom that serves as Brian Walker‘s home studio, he creates, writes, and records his music. His own life serves as a source of creativity for his songwriting, particularly the lyrics.
Walker’s catchy melodies tend to be more commercial pop, but his rhythms and harmonies are influenced by a wide range of musical styles and eras. Musically speaking.
The music video for “Red Flags” features a scene in which Brian Walker is taken hostage by one of his admirers. She then watches as Brian Walker throws away the paper after she has given him her phone number. She then waits for him after one of his rehearsals, hits him with a wrench, and brings him back to her apartment, where she continues to abuse him.
Brian Walker is responsible for the composition and production of this song, as well as the conception, directing, casting, editing, colour grading, and acting in the accompanying music video, and he came up with the plot.
Grammy winner DJ Swivel was responsible for the song’s mixing, while Grammy winner Chris Gehringer was in charge of the song’s mastering.
This song was written by Brian Walker, and it is based on one of his previous relationships. During the summer of a few years ago, he was spending time with this girl, and there were several warning signs that surfaced as a result of their relationship.
He was receiving a lot of negative feelings from being around her, and he found himself in a lot of precarious circumstances in which he stood to lose either way.
A few months later, he came up with this rhythm, and when he was going through his lyric ideas, he thought that the notion of “Red Flags” was the lyric idea that seemed the most organically suited to this beat. He decided to go with that idea.
The release of both this song and its accompanying music video was long overdue. I get the impression that taken as a whole, this project is the most exciting piece of work that he has produced so far in his career, and that it speaks the most to who he is as an artist. This is because it was developed by him.

Strizzy Strauss Unleashes Brand New Single 'Fish Fridays'
Rapper Strizzy Strauss is well-known for his analytical and socially concerned lyrics and flows, which have been likened to those of the famous rapper Guru.
The song “Fish Fridays” is a personal reflection by Strauss that is put to a snappy, laid-back acoustic rhythm and flavoured with a sweet jazz piano melody. It is one of the outstanding tunes on the album.
The deeply personal lyrics were inspired by a dinner at Strauss’s mother’s house, a place that means a lot to him because of all the memories, events, and hard times he has gone through there. The song was written by Strauss.
Strauss opens up to the audience in the music video for “Fish Fridays,” which was shot and edited by Saunders Multi-Media. He shares personal information about the difficulties of being an independent artist, the passing of a friend, and the significance of family and love.
The video, which gives viewers a preview of the next album that Strauss will be releasing, blends two songs from the record into a short film that runs for five minutes and depicts the personal atmosphere of a family get-together.
Strauss’s tune “Hot Rockz” has hard-hitting lyrics and violent flows set over a grungy roadside cypher. This stands in contrast to his previous track, “Fish Fridays,” which was more contemplative.
This track, which was produced in-house by Rabbs and also features an artist from Leicester named MrBonnie Blazer, shows off a new part of Strauss’s way of making music.
In general, Strauss is an artist who does not shrink back from delving deeply into personal experiences and societal themes in his music. As a result, he is able to offer rhymes that are potent and thought-provoking, which connect with his audience.

LehmanskiThe talented artiste Lehmanski gave a vivid understanding of what each song entails and what to expect during each session.
Another Masterpiece From Lehmanski Du Strahlst So Schön
1: DU STRAHLST SO SCHÖN (You shine so beautifully) The title song shines. With a melody that hugs you. It sparkles and glitters. ‘You shine so beautifully’ from the first second takes its way on the broad way of a pompous sound. The song takes focus on people who like standing in the center.
2: RADIOMÄDCHEN (Radio Girl) „Radiomädchen“ is a little feel good monster that declares radio to a shrine, hearing radio to a religion – that is car driving music for das das Radio zum Schrein erklärt, das Radiohören zur Religion – Aufofahrmusik for bikes, with flying hear and enormous headphones.
3: DEINE WELT, DIE WIR NICHT WOLLEN (Your world we don’t want). “Deine Welt, die wir nicht wollen” – was born some years ago and is unfortunately currently actual. It is about people who bawl paroles unreflective.
4: MOFAPETRA 2021 “Mofapetra 2021” is the continuation from 2008, from that song, that feels mostly like real, but unspoilt life, that has changed from morality to a fairy tale – with words that weigh like gold hide their grief between the lines.
5: WIR VERSCHENKEN UNSEREN KOMPASS (We give away our compass) “Wir verschenken unseren Kompass” rolls straight through the general store rollt from the shelf to the cash register – all with a serious routine refrain. The end doesn’t sound when bass and guitar are rumbling ominous in front of the abyss.
6: ANDERS ALS DAS ANDERSSEIN (Different than being different) “Anders als das Anderssein” makes itself to easy for indie rock trained ears. The song takes an ironic view on the trend setting being different, hat barricaddes in uniform individuality, to end in grandiose melody hat outshines everything.
7: DA GEHT KEIN TROPFEN DANEBEN (No drop goes besides) In the jazzy downspilled “Da geht kein Tropfen daneben” the start is gentyl, until the refrain takes a turn and takes the curve with a wall of sound alike sound, melodically grows und heralds its own end.
8: HUNDERT JAHRE SIND KEIN TAG (Hundred years are not a day) “Hundert Jahre sind kein Tag” is a minutely still life, no cuddle song, not even approximately balladesque, it’s a song that encrypts the stubborn being with exhilarated melodies.
Piper Cole Talks About Her Latest Single - Oh Honey
Before receiving any formal training at the age of 12, Canadian female electronic music producer Piper Cole was already teaching herself how to sing and play the piano, later she was taught professionally how to play the guitar and better her singing.
“I love trying new instruments so I have dabbled in bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, mandolin and lots of orchestral instruments but not to a high level. My main instrument was voice and I studied Opera at university”
Says Piper Cole during a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh about her latest release Oh Honey where she shed more light on her music and her personal life
‘Oh Honey’ is meant to be a song of comfort to us all. It’s been a heartbreaking and confusing time in the world as of late. It can feel like the weight is pulling you down and swallowing you up.
If we search for helpers, rest in kindness and look to the stillness of nature, then maybe we don’t need to keep running. Adjusting to the strain, the strong river bends itself into new forms. “You’ve been running for too long.” Oh, honey, I get it, I am here with you and “you just gotta hang on.”
More of this was shared during the interview, get the full story below while you enjoy Oh Honey
Musically, I find inspiration from artists pushing their genre’s boundaries. I love the sound of acoustic/folk music that has experimental electronic aspects. I find sound design thrilling and enjoy studying electronic sound production.
I feel I have been on a quest from an early age, to express myself musically so my lyrics are often human struggle themes and journeys into connecting with an inner knowing to guide me through.
What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
I didn’t come from a musical family but music was appreciated. I discovered music kind of on my own. I have early memories of writing songs and drawing sounds with shapes before I could write. I must have been very young.
I can still hear some of that music in my head. Singing evolved with that. I was a quiet, shy child and just hearing the sound of my voice singing out has been a lifeline for me.
I didn’t come from a musical family but music was appreciated. I discovered music kind of on my own.
Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I wouldn’t say I have longed to be a part of the music industry, rather I have longed to create music. There are things about the music industry that I could do without. I try to engage personally as much as possible, but it is hard.
How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I thought myself to sing and play piano, then I started formal lessons at age 12. I then learnt the guitar and took singing lessons. My guitar playing has always been about songwriting so I am pretty good at chords and accompanying myself.
I love trying new instruments so I have dabbled in bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, mandolin and lots of orchestral instruments but not to a high level. My main instrument was voice and I studied Opera at university.
What was the first concert that you ever went to?
My first concert was 80’s pop star Tiffany in 1989. Yes, I was an 80’s kid.
How could you describe your music?
Folktronica – A mix of acoustic folk/singer-songwriter with electronic and experimental elements.
Describe your creative process.
Tortured 😝 Seriously I love it and also struggle immensely with it. I must push myself to finish songs as I get so caught up trying to make them perfect. It’s a love/hate relationship.
What musician do you admire most and why?
There are so many! I admire artists who play with genre boundaries like Jesca Hoop, Kate Bush, David Bowie. Artists that truly write songs and make music from a place of expression and not an attempt to be commercial. Artists that bring something unique and authentically themselves.
Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
I’ve been through many evolutions but my beginning was an indie folk singer/songwriter. Over the years I studied Opera and also sound design and electroacoustic music so my music has gradually taken on an electronic element.
What are your interests outside of music?
I’m a Psychotherapist by day and I am pretty devoted to the search for and expression of the essential self. I read a lot and am currently interested in quantum physics and the nature of consciousness.
If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
Music is my passion project not my career. I work with individuals who are wanting to improve their mental health. I am also developing a type of music therapy called therapeutic voicework.
What would it be if you could change one thing in the music industry?
I would like to see more women in technical music roles as producers, mixing and mastering engineers. I would also like to see artists get paid more fairly for the music we all listen to.
Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
‘Oh Honey’ is something you might say to a dear friend who is struggling. It is a song of comfort.
What are your plans for the coming months?
I will be releasing three new singles in 2023. The next release will be in February.
Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?
I will be working again with UK Animator Will Clarke on a full-length animated music video for one of my next singles.
What message would you like to give to your fans?
Do what you love. Care for yourself. Hang in there – good times always follow the bad.
