Bare Emotions Wrapped in Beats: A Review of 'Without You' by “Kapture"

Unapologetically bold and painfully honest, Kapture’s latest single, “Without You,” is a beacon of raw emotions crashed against a backdrop of an evocative downtempo hip hop groove. This assured musical piece takes listeners on an introspective journey that cuts to the core, examining the challenging but universal process of losing someone once believed indispensable.

Kapture’s sound — characterized by its ability to slip seamlessly between airy vibes and hard beats — calls to mind the best of the rap industry, not least reminiscent of trailblazers like Missy Elliott. However, “Without You” establishes the artist as a powerhouse in her own right in the constantly evolving hip hop landscape.

The vocals command attention, etching an essence of vulnerability and strength simultaneously. This female rapper provides a masterclass in vocal delivery, her verses resonating with the ache of loss and the acceptance of solitude. She engages her listener with uncompromisingly confident lyrics that paint a vivid picture of love, loss, and the resilience that sprouts from such fertile emotional soil.

Shrouding the listener in an ethereal world where deep lyrics and haunting melodies intertwine, Kapture leverages her razor-sharp wordplay and emotive rap articulation to make “Without You” an anthem that speaks to the heart, even as it makes heads bob in rhythm. Each beat pulsates in sync with the emotional undertones, driving home the message of the piece and improving its staying power long after the final note has faded into silence.

Riding the Waves of Time with LTB’s “Rewind”

“Without You” is more than a song; it’s a heartfelt narrative of loss, amplified by sincere lyrics and engaging rhythms. This is not just Kapture seeking closure through self-expression; this is her extending a hand to listeners going through similar experiences, her voice reaching out through a shared rhythm of solitude and recovery.

Beyond the song’s emotional depth, the production encapsulates an auditory landscape that perfectly complements the overarching theme. The production is crisp yet subtle, never overpowering the vocals but greatly enhancing the overall listening experience.

In conclusion, “Without You” is a triumph of emotive storytelling within the framework of hip hop. It reminds us of the beauty of music — its ability to connect, heal, and empower. As the final note dwindles, one can’t help but feel a sense of profound connection and understanding – a testament to Kapture’s ability to touch hearts with her music.

Kapture’s “Without You” isn’t just a song, it’s a riveting musical journey leaving a lasting imprint. It’s okay to lose, break and rebuild. The underlying message? You’re not alone — and that’s a testament to music’s incredible power to unite and uplift.

What is your stage name?

Aruna

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
I’ve always had a passion for music and have been singing and performing for as long as I can remember, but I only started writing my own songs about 3 or 4 years ago. I’m constantly discovering new things about music and learning and growing as I go. This song, for instance, has taken a very new direction sonically to my previous releases and that’s what I love about it!

Are you from a musical or artistic family?
I am! Both my father and my grandmother were musicians so it’s definitely in my blood and something that I grew up immersed in. My grandmother is the first person I ever performed with when I was 6 or 7, and she taught me a lot about music when I was growing up.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I’ve always wanted to be a part of the music industry especially because I saw my father and grandmother doing it too, and I’m really grateful for that. If we’re talking about my early inspirations in music, they included artists like Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Demi Lovato, etc.

They were the reason I became interested in pop music, and I’ve always wanted to follow in their footsteps.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
Interesting question! Growing up in India, not a lot of bands and artists would tour in my area so I actually didn’t experience my first concert till very recently. I remember there was this German band called ‘Fotos’ that performed at our school once if you can count that- but my first real concert was only in 2021 when I went to see Arlo Parks at Chalk in Brighton and she was truly amazing.

INDIE POP, POP-PUNK ,COMMERCIAL POP ,POP ,FEMALE VOCALS ,UK BASED ,SINGER-SONGWRITER Band ,Full Band Sound, ROCK POP, ARUNA, ARUNA latest song , ARUNA REAL WORLD, REAL WORLD BY ARUNA
Growing up in India, not a lot of bands and artists would tour in my area so I actually didn’t experience my first concert till very recently.

How could you describe your music?
I have a really wide range of influences for my music- I’d say a really big one is Taylor Swift when it comes to songwriting, and then vocally artists like Tori Kelly and Ariana Grande have always inspired me.

Lyrics and vocals have always been super important to me so I try to reflect that in the songs I release- but sonically my music has gone from being acoustic to more commercially pop, and now we’re doing pop punk so I’d like to say there’s a lot of range in there!

Describe your creative process.
Writing songs to me is almost like writing a journal. It’s been a very healthy way to express my emotions and personally I find it hard to write about things I haven’t experienced firsthand.

So my songs are always very personal to me. For instance, the song I just released -Real World- came from a moment of anger after my ex boss made a sarcastic comment that I would never make it in the “real world”. I put the lyrics and melody down and then my partner Kamran Ramsden put it to guitar chords and arranged and produced the music.

What musician do you admire most and why?
The musician I admire the most currently is definitely Olivia Rodrigo. I think she’s able to bring together both beautiful lyrics and impressive vocals in her songs, and that’s the ultimate goal with my music so I’m definitely taking notes from her for all my future releases!

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
Oh yeah definitely. I started off by top lining on electronically produced tracks that were never fully mine, and now I’m finally writing and releasing music true to my feelings and I’m achieving the sound I want. I’m so glad I have the resources now to write the kind of music that I myself love listening to.

What are your interests outside of music?
Music is my biggest interest, but outside of that I love reading, spending quality time with my friends and family, going to concerts, etc. My biggest interest outside of music, though, would probably be reading.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
Well, I am currently working full time in PR! As growing artists we’re constantly hustling to move ourselves forward, so I’ve got a really busy schedule- as I know a lot of my friends in the music industry do as well. A lot of us are working other jobs and pursuing music in our down time- that’s why it’s so important to support small artists, we work really hard!

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
I think one of biggest challenges I’ve faced in the music industry is that there are not enough resources for budding artists and it’s really difficult when you’re starting your journey to know where to begin. Thankfully, I had some support with that as I was able to network and surround myself with other musicians who were doing the same thing as me.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
The one thing I’d change about the music industry is definitely the lack of diversity. As an Indian woman in the pop music industry, there are not a lot of people like me and I didn’t have a lot of representation growing up. I’m really passionate about this issue and really want to bring more positive representation into the industry.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
I’ve often heard people use the term ‘real world’ in a negative way. People have preconceived ideas of what the ‘real world’ is, and it got me thinking about why I would want to live in a world where my dreams are not achievable, or where there’s only one accepted path, or where I’m constantly trying to fit in to someone else’s standards.

The song is supposed to send an empowering message that no matter what anyone else says, we make our own paths in life, we set our standards, and we make our own world- that’s where the lyric “I don’t wanna live in your real world, I like the space that I create” comes from.

What are your plans for the coming months?
I have more releases coming! Not just that, I’m also playing a gig at Fiddlers Elbow in Camden on the 28th of July. If you’re around, you should come- it’s a great venue, it’s always so much fun, and it’s gonna be a great night!

What message would you like to give to your fans?
Take your time to figure out what makes you happy and what you’re passionate about, and then do more of that. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise, because at the end of the day you’re the one who’s going to be living this life- not them. Create your own space and rise up and take your place.

What is your stage name:

The Short Fall

Is there a story behind your stage name?

It was many years ago (maybe 2007?) – we won a radio competition to support INXS in our home town of Rockhampton – our old band name sucked so our bass player at the time suggested it, and it’s stuck ever since.

Where do you find inspiration?

Listening to music, artists that I like, events that happen around me.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

Being half Filipino, music plays a huge role in that culture. There was always music playing in the house growing up, and I got into playing guitar at a young age.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

Once I started writing songs I knew I always wanted to be involved with music somehow.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

I’ve always been able to sing, but I feel like after many years of writing songs I’m still learning and getting better at it.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

I think it was The Butterfly Effect in Rockhampton, Queensland in 2005.

How could you describe your music?

Guitar driven indie-rock featuring rich vocal harmonies, catchy hooks and a hint of melancholy

Describe your creative process.

Noodling around on the guitar until I find a melody and a hook-line I like and then agonising over the rest of the lyrics for days/weeks/months.

What is your main inspiration?

Probably the bands I’m listening to at any point in time. For my recent songs it was Oasis, Powderfinger, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, The 1975, City & Colour, Fleetwood Mac and Crowded House.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

In 2013 we won an Australian Independent Music award for best Folk song with our debut single, The Meadow. This shaped our sound for the next 5 – 8 years. My brother left the band in 2022 and I decided to shed the indie-folk rock for a more alternative/indie/rock sound.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

I don’t feel like I’m competing with other musicians as we all have a story to tell and it’s up to the listener to decide if they want to come along for the ride.

Maybe musicians who are signed to big labels and have a big marketing budget perhaps? It’s a struggle as an indie musician to get heard amongst the sea of other music out there.

What are your interests outside of music?

Family time with my wife and daughter, travelling, red wine & watching the cricket.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

I own a graphic & web design studio as my day job!

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

Getting any financial returns on the money you invest in recording & marketing new music. It’s a real slog and you really need to want to do it because you love it and believe in your music.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Increasing the revenue payout from streaming

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

The chorus of Looking Over my Shoulder was written in about 5 minutes – the main line in the chorus just came from nowhere and was what I built the song around.

What are your plans for the coming months?

The band have got shows in regional Queensland and I just want to keep promoting the song on digital platforms as much as possible to grow my listeners. I’ve got 2 more singles to release this year too.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans.

Nothing as of yet.

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Thanks for listening – supporting indie artists is so appreciated. The Short Fall have more new music coming out this year so stay tuned on our socials!

Emergence of a Sonic Apocalypse: A Review of “Doomsday” by The Trusted

Emergence of a Sonic Apocalypse: A Review of “Doomsday” by The Trusted
Emergence of a Sonic Apocalypse: A Review of “Doomsday” by The Trusted

If the end of the world ever needed an uplifting soundtrack, The Trusted’s latest single, ‘Doomsday,’ would undoubtedly be a front-runner. Hailing from Southend-on-Sea, bandmates Dave Batchelor, Dale Holt-Mead, Fin Cunningham, and Tom Cunningham weave an indiscriminate blend of alt-rock pop with indie rock undertones that floods the senses as intensely as title of the track suggests.

‘Doomsday’ beings with an atmospheric introduction which is soon ruptured by piercing guitar hooks – they are stunning, unanticipated, and they command attention. The forceful riffs, comparable to the audaciousness of an Arctic Monkeys’ sound, take us on a rollercoaster ride through melodic valleys and soaring peaks. The enchanting loftiness of these sequences is matched only by the band’s technical acuity, producing something simultaneously potent and ear-pleasing.

Lyrically, ‘Doomsday’ speaks of disintegration and despair; it is a desperate cry against isolation amplified perfectly through male vocals that are both raw and intoxicating. This sonic exploration of a psychological apocalypse, surprisingly, does not bring about feelings of dread but rather a cathartic release. The anthemic chorus is delivered with a passion reminiscent of U2’s anthems—a rallying call against the wreckage of personal turmoil, echoing long after the song ends.

Joy From Despair: A Dive into “The Sadface Album” by Something Moves

The Trusted effectively combine the rugged timbre of indie rock with the more accessible aspects of alt rock-pop, creating a tapestry of audial emotion that appeals to both niche and mainstream listeners. The vocals shine through with distinct personality, while the exceptional instrumentation provides a solid and engaging backdrop. The largely live-feeling production on ‘Doomsday’ appropriately complements its theme, adding an element of rawness and authenticity to the record.

In closing, ‘Doomsday’ by The Trusted is a sonic embodiment of upheaval and resilience interspersed with moments of intense rapture. Listeners will appreciate their ability to transform a tale of disorder to a rousing anthem capable of inciting the most impassive of hearts. To say that the world needs more of The Trusted’s unique sound would be an understatement. Galvanized through bold, heart-wrenching lyrics and powerful, infectious tunefulness, ‘Doomsday’ stands as a testament to the band’s virtuosity, indicating a bright and promising trajectory for these Southend-on-Sea natives.

Uncovering The Extraordinary Life of Ghanaian Singer Nana Asamoah
Uncovering The Extraordinary Life of Ghanaian Singer Nana Asamoah

An artistically gifted musician from the Ashanti Region of Ghana, often known as the Land of the Golden Stool. As a child growing up in Asante Bekwai, Nana’s interest in African traditions and freestyle dance sparked a lifelong pursuit of creative greatness.

When Nana Asamoah was a young boy in Accra, he became enamoured with dance and began avidly following famous Ghanaian dance groups and attending weekend events that included music and the performing arts.

He began winning multiple local dancing contests at the juvenile age of 12 due to his obvious skill. Nana, armed with a homemade microphone, would sing and dance her way through the hits of luminaries like Phil Collins and Kojo Antwi, all the while raking in donations from the crowd.

The impact of Nana Asamoah’s work went well beyond the limits of Ghana. In the 1990s, he was a headliner at events all across West Africa, including in nations like Togo, Cotonou, and Ivory Coast. Nana improved his skills as a dancer via his collaborations with prominent singers like as Agboti Yawo Mawuena, Fifi Rafiatu, and Afia Mala.

Nana Asamoah started a new chapter in his life when he moved to Germany in 1992. After joining the Ghanaian traditional and Highlife Music band ‘Adesa’ as a dancer and background vocalist, he went on a fantastic adventure around Europe, performing with the band and thrilling audiences with their exuberant performances. This broadened Nana’s musical horizons, inspiring him to experiment with and record a variety of musical styles and influences.

Originally from Ghana, Nana Asamoah published his first album, “Gyemedi,” in the year 2000. It was a compelling blend of R&B and Highlife Music. A remarkable performance on the TV3 Valentine’s Day special and appearances at prominent events like “Guinness for your Dancing Feet” were made possible by the title tune. When the German documentary “Who Is Highlife” highlighted Ghana’s Highlife Music Legends, including himself, his song “Wo Fata Me” became well known.

Nana Asamoah’s career advanced significantly once he began working with other famous musicians. Along with Naro Vitale and Ryan Paris, he recorded a version of “Mama Afrika” for the 2010 World Cup, which is widely considered to be one of his most memorable duets. He also became well-known because of his contributions to Dada KD’s “Mewura” and Ofori Amponsah’s “Bohobio.”

In 2012, Nana achieved great success with his Afropop single “Sum Kum Bum,” earning him the esteemed German DDO Golden Plate award. However, he subsequently took an indefinite hiatus to address personal matters.

But now is finally the moment for his long-awaited return. Nana Asamoah is a very talented and inventive artist, and he has an arsenal full of infectious hits that are ready to conquer the globe.

Fans and friends of Nana in Ghana and throughout the world look forward to his new music releases because they know they will be blown away by his exceptional skill.

Joy From Despair: A Dive into "The Sadface Album" by Something Moves
Joy From Despair: A Dive into "The Sadface Album" by Something Moves

“The Sadface Album” – the debut album from UK alternative-indie rock outfit, Something Moves – effectively forces an acute departure from the predictable. Melding the contours of alternative and indie rock with anthemic surprises, the album is an intricate compelling puzzle, crafted by Chris Briden and his crew who embarked on this artistic venture in 2021.

With twelve tracks penned during the uncertainty of the 2020-2022 years, ‘The Sadface Album’ is an earnest examination of personal and shared anxieties. The music pulsates with the angst of not knowing what lies ahead, the joy and bewilderment of parenthood, and the tumultuous rollercoaster of human relationships. Yet amidst this emotional turmoil, the crew shows its uncanny ability to craft catchy, invigorating anthems that bubble with an infectious energy.

The male vocals throughout the album strike a chord of authenticity, further enhancing the record’s raw, endearing quality. There’s a boldness to the vocals, riding atop the power-packed instrumentation, that’s both captivating and emotionally resonant.

Musically, Something Moves call to mind stalwarts of the rock genre but endeavour to carve its own niche. Their sound marries the dense and hefty tones of alternative rock with the more melodic, infectious elements of indie rock. It’s in this self-created intersection that the magic of ‘The Sadface Album’ lies.

“From Nothing” to Noteworthy – A Sonic Journey Unearthed by Sent From Above

And yet, there’s an essential human core to this debut offering that goes beyond its genre-blending elements. It’s an album that captures the universal quest for footing in life’s labyrinth, wrapped in the warm, cathartic embrace of anthemic rock.

The gutsy production choices stay true to the album’s themes, offering a raw, unfiltered musical journey, laying bare the highs and lows of navigating human connection and reckoning with an unpredictable future. Adorned with layers upon layers of textured sonic depth, each track speaks its heart quite fearlessly.

‘The Sadface Album,’ in essence, is an introspective reflection on life’s dichotomies, beautifully coded into melodic anthems. You’ll find as you plunge into Something Moves’ debut offering, the joy in their melancholy, the harmony in their chaos.

In Chris Briden’s words – conceived to make music for the love of it – Something Moves gives us not just music but gems of lived experiences. They transform their deeply personal narratives into universal truth nuggets, reminding us that despair often walks hand in hand with hope. In the exploration of this paradox, ‘The Sadface Album’ triumphs. It’s a poignant chronicle that reverberates long after the final track croons its last note. Prepare to be moved.

The single, in its enthralling simplicity, is a testament to the power of “less is more,” engulfing you in the comforting hues of its acoustic goodness. Here, stripped stark against the sprawling canvas of music, is Kadi Beth with nothing but a soul-stirring voice and her guitar.

The Enchanting Complexity of Simplicity: URST's "ABSURDO"
The Enchanting Complexity of Simplicity: URST's "ABSURDO"

Enter the paradoxical world of URST’s latest release, “ABSURDO”. A hypnotic fusion of lo-fi hip hop beats, neo-soul elements, and easy listening instrumentals, there’s a seemingly incongruous beauty to be found in this soul-stirring single. The song is brought to life by the solo project of Carlos Uriostegui, a multi-talented instrumentalist deft to the prowess of the piano, while also demonstrating skills in bass guitar and drums.

‘ABSURDO’, as the name suggests, delves deep into the perplexities of life, attempting to articulate the abstract sensations we sometimes feel, acknowledging that life can be both beautifully complex yet strikingly simple. The track’s effortless balance between soft mellow melodies and captivating instrumentals truly captures the essence of this feeling, providing a soundtrack for moments of self-reflection.

The song’s backbone lays within its instrumentals; one could easily feel captivated by the rich piano chords and subtle drum beats; their textures and harmonies create hypnotic undertones. Though reminiscent of the modern lo-fi hip hop genre, there is an artful twist to Carlos’s approach, weaving in neo-soul influences with expert finesse.

Love Letter to the Soul: Lili Joy’s Gentle Release, “She”

I’m super excited to dive into the mesmerizing world of Ivory Dusk and their debut EP, “Tempered.” These talented musicians hail from Albany and the Great Southern region, delivering a unique blend of alternative heavy rock that’s bound to leave a lasting impression.

Let’s start by acknowledging the exceptional production, mixing, and mastering work by James Newhouse of Lamb Chop in Bunbury, WA. With a resume that includes working with renowned artists like John Butler, San Cisco, and The Waifs, it’s no surprise that the four dynamic tracks on “Tempered” sound impeccable from start to finish.

The EP kicks off with the hard-hitting track “Fold You,” which immediately grabs your attention with its overdriven guitars and poetic, thought-provoking lyrics. There’s a touch of that System of a Down feel in the rhythm that adds an extra punch.

“Whisper” showcases Ivory Dusk’s fantastic guitar tones and impressive vocal prowess. The rhythm serves as a deep dive, allowing the lyrics to fill you with meaning and purpose. The crisp and clean guitar work harmonizes beautifully with the textured high-hat patterns, adding a delightful spice to the overall sound. Ivory Dusk knows how to hold an audience, and their ability to create awe-inspiring moments is truly commendable. This track is a testament to their skill and their willingness to push the boundaries of their genre.

As we reach the end of the EP, “Chase Me” takes us on an enchanting sonic adventure. It’s an immersive journey that unveils Ivory Dusk’s ability to create atmospheric soundscapes. The absence of percussion in certain sections allows the lyrics to take center stage, while a mesmerizing single-note riff adds depth to the composition. It’s a grand finale that leaves a lasting impression.

With their first EP, Ivory Dusk proves that they are a band to watch in the alternative heavy rock scene. “Tempered” showcases their growth, experimentation, and ability to craft engaging and immersive musical experiences. The band’s singles, “It’s Over, Simulation” and “Concede,” are notable highlights that exemplify their sonic progression.

LearningToDive's "Trust In Me": Atmospheric Soundscape and Empowering Unity

As the world accelerates toward an increasingly digitized era, rapidly grasping for connection in the chaos, LearningToDive presents us with a cinematic journey in the form of their latest single, “Trust In Me.” The song, crafted by producer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Bravo Bonez, is a dramatic, dark yet optimistic track with a trip-hop angle that creeps under the skin and leaves a haunting resonance long after the final note.

Upon first listen, “Trust In Me” will undoubtedly pique the interest of fans across the musical spectrum – from dark wave devotees to alt-rock aficionados. The track masterfully weds the pulsating energy of Eighties synthpop with contemporary production techniques, breathing new life into a predominantly electronic-influenced sound. At its core, however, the song serves a more profound purpose: offering solidarity and solace to those enduring the silent battles against psychological torment and the manipulative tactics of gaslighting.

LearningToDive’s vocal delivery is nothing short of a revelation, exuding quality that conveys both vulnerability and a subliminal strength. The layered harmonies and lush melodies weave throughout the track, evoking a stirring sense of yearning and hope. Lines such as “put your trust in me, I will believe you now” sweep the listener into a world of catharsis, reminding us of the importance of compassion and empathy in the ongoing pursuit of reclaiming one’s reality from a gaslighter’s grasp. In a nutshell, “Trust In Me” offers a message of solace and companionship to victims of gaslighting, that there is someone out there who believes in their struggle and stands ready to offer support.

Amelie Blake: Redefining Empowerment with “Rules Are Made to Be Broken”

Instrumentally, the song harks back to the atmospheric stylings of iconic bands like Depeche Mode, while still remaining unequivocally fresh and original. The driving trip-hop beat serves as the perfect scaffold for the rich tapestry of synths, guitars, and vocal textures, adding a sense of dark urgency to the musical ether. It is this all-encompassing soundscape that speaks to the listener, transporting them to a universe wherein struggle meets empowerment, and unity illuminates the shadows of isolation.

The emotional landscape of “Trust In Me” transcends the confines of a standard single, providing a compelling glimpse into LearningToDive’s upcoming EP. As Bravo Bonez navigates the depths of the human experience through his distinct musical prowess, we as an audience can’t help but be captivated by the profound empathy that permeates his work. “Trust In Me” brilliantly combines meaningful lyrics, expert production, and genuine emotion to convey a powerful message of hope and healing, making the listener crave more from this gifted artist.
