Harnessing The Power of Gamified Learning With Digital Games

There weren’t many video games around where I grew up. Back then, only the children of the wealthy could afford it. Video game centers were expensive activities for the working class. The length of time you play is timed and is directly proportional to the amount of money you wager.

In the end, it aided us in various ways and strengthened us in various facets of life. The change has been dramatic over the past few years, and I, for one, am relieved that this is no longer a luxury item. One can tailor their online gaming experience by choosing from a wide variety of game types.

Playing video games online is a great way to take your mind off of things for a while. Taking part in a game might help relieve stress since it allows you to concentrate on something other than your worries for a while. Video games played online are a popular form of entertainment, and for good reason. Playing video games, whether they’re lighthearted puzzlers, open-world adventures, or cooperative sessions with friends, maybe a great way to unwind and relieve tension.

Interacting with other players is a common feature of many online games. Participating in online communities, playing games with multiple players, or joining a guild or clan are all great ways to meet people with similar interests. For me, the ability to interact with others and work together virtually eased some of the stresses of childhood by reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.

The thrill of advancing in a video game, whether by finishing a mission, passing a milestone, or reaching a new level, is not to be underestimated. I am living proof that feeling successful may improve one’s disposition and sense of worth, serving as a welcome antidote to the stresses one faces in other aspects of life. Puzzles, strategy games, and other mental workouts I found on the internet were particularly useful for me. I find that engaging in mentally taxing tasks helps me to relax, sharpen my focus, and feel accomplished.

Some games available on the internet are aimed squarely at helping players unwind and focus their attention. These games typically have relaxing aesthetics, ambient soundtracks, and gameplay elements like deep breathing or meditation to promote relaxation. Playing these games has the same calming and stress-relieving effect on you as it does on me.

The best video games are a necessary staple in today’s society, especially for younger generations. Plays.org and similar sites contain all the games kids could want to keep them occupied, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Months ago, I stumbled into it by coincidence, and based on my own personal experiences with the website, I can confidently say that it is something you should look into.

The website features thousands of games, so players have plenty of options. I played a wide variety of games, from those meant to teach to those meant to keep you healthy, and even those that were just plain enjoyable. AGame is not like 247Games, Armor Games, Big Fish Games, Miniclip, MSN Games, Pogo, or any of those other sites. Trust me when I say that your children will be completely secure when visiting this site. I feel like there are always new games being added. As they grow, that should be wonderful as well.

They offer music games in addition to introducing kids to music, which can help them develop emotionally, intellectually, and creatively. That’s incredible, right?

Start young children off right by exposing them to music. Involve youngsters in fun musical activities including singing, dancing, playing instruments, incorporating games, storytelling, and movement, and creating a musical environment by playing soothing melodies, singing lullabies, or using musical toys. Try to figure out how to do it with them. Get children involved in musical groups, including school choruses, bands, and community orchestras. These interactions improve their communication abilities and help them feel like they belong somewhere.

Let me describe the games I played and how I located them on the site. If you find these games to be as entertaining as I do, then we’re in luck. There will be a ton more games and genres that you’ll enjoy in the future. It really just comes down to personal preference.

Several games were attempted; however, for games, Yellow Lines, 3D Car Race, Word Search, 3D Math Memory, and SpongeBob SquarePants Doctor: First Aid Sim Game. Arcade, educational, and health-related gaming genres are represented here.

This physics-based ball-bouncing game, Yellow Lines, is appropriate for kids and adults alike because it contains no inappropriate material. It’s simple to pick up and play because of the game’s streamlined design. The game’s simplicity coupled with its hard nature attracts gamers who appreciate puzzle-solving and strategic thinking as level layouts become increasingly complicated as you progress through the game. It’s a nice way to unwind while still keeping your mind active in your pursuit of success. To acquire the optimal angle when hitting a spinning platform, it can help to go the shortest distance possible and aim for the edge of the platform that is closest to the ball. To complete a level, you must smash through all of the yellow lines before your ball leaves the play area. If your ball goes out of the playing area while there is still at least one yellow line segment visible, you will fail the level. I really like how difficult it is to utilize the previous play’s position of your mouse pointer as a baseline and then make minor adjustments to your shot dependent on the trajectory of the ball. You learn to plan your actions and think ahead. Absolutely worth the effort and work!

Yellow Lines

Each mode in the 3D Car Race has its own set of features and dynamics, allowing you to select one that suits your playing style. Because of how easy it is to operate, both kids and adults can enjoy it. This is a basic 3D driving game with a retro style in which you control a bus across a dangerous aerial racing course. Furthermore, it is appropriate for younger gamers who enjoy a 3D driving game that does not contain any adult themes. It’s a good fit for racing fans because, like other racing games, it features realistic physics and demanding tracks. In addition, the game encourages you to stay concentrated for long periods of time and increases your attention span by challenging you to beat your prior times as you race down the track as quickly as possible. The game was made in such a way that progressing through it, unlocking more cars and tracks, and completing challenges all contribute to a satisfying feeling of mastery. In my experience, it usually provides a satisfying and all-encompassing experience. That’s how I felt the whole time I was playing.

2 Player Word Search is an adaptable word search game that may be played solo or with a friend. Words can be drawn from many different categories, like “animal,” “country,” “fruit,” “food,” “movie,” “music,” and so on. You and a friend can race against the clock to see who can locate the most words in two minutes. The way it was constructed enabled me to mentally challenge myself and improve my ability to focus and solve problems. It improves pattern recognition and link-making by forcing you to concentrate and search for words in a grid. This is ideal if you, like me, enjoy challenging but rewarding word-finding games. Children who are just learning to read and write might greatly benefit from it since it helps them get more comfortable with word structures and develops their ability to visually detect words. It’s a fun and meaningful method to keep your brain in shape, and it can help with cognitive rehabilitation.

The 3D version of the classic card matching game, 3D Math Memory, is a great way to brush up on your math skills. Place the number that results from the operation on the card with the corresponding mathematical operation. You can experiment with simple arithmetic operations like adding and subtracting, more complex ones like multiplying and dividing, or all four at once. Matching an equation with a card depicting the correct solution is all that’s required to play. Your completion time becomes the new record. Again, those who enjoy games of pure mathematics might find this one to their liking. As is customary, there is nothing explicit in the game. Regular practice with these games has been shown to improve players’ speed, accuracy, and comfort with numbers. My self-assurance as a mathematician has been bolstered by several plays. Mathematical games like this one aim to be user-friendly and entertaining. The ability to perform mental arithmetic rapidly and accurately, which is honed through playing arithmetic games, is useful in contexts outside of gaming as well.

Let’s talk about health for a while. No matter what, we should all take care of our health, and we will all sustain some kind of injury. Some are so mild that they can be treated easily at home. This game simulates that experience. You should play the SpongeBob SquarePants Doctor: First Aid Sim Game. Because of its widespread popularity, this animation is more exciting and interesting to watch. In this instance, you get to lend a hand to one of your most beloved cartoon personalities. Even though SpongeBob didn’t hurt himself badly enough to warrant the sponge treatment, he does need medical attention. You assume the role of a doctor who must help SpongeBob recover from his injuries. Put on some clean clothes for SpongeBob and bind up his cuts. Playing health-related games with others has the potential to boost feelings of camaraderie, morale, and enjoyment of exercise. Problem-solving, deliberation, and spatial awareness are all areas where virtual reality fitness games have the potential to shine. In terms of a child’s general physical development, this is especially helpful. Fans of the Nickelodeon cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants of all ages can enjoy this no-cost health simulation video game based on the series. There is no sexual or violent content in the game.

The possible downsides of video games, however, should not be ignored. If not balanced with other activities, excessive gaming can lead to lazy lifestyles, loneliness, and addiction. There are also worries about how vulnerable people, especially children and teenagers, may be affected by exposure to violent and addictive content.

In order to lessen these dangers, it is essential for parents, teachers, and lawmakers to encourage responsible gaming practices and enforce adequate content regulation.

Dan Szyller's "The Celestial Immigrant" – A Voyage of Creativity and Emotional Resonance

Dan Szyller, a Brazilian singer-songwriter and musician based in Metz, France, unveils his imaginative and heartfelt debut album, “The Celestial Immigrant.” Drawing inspiration from his life experiences as an immigrant, Szyller masterfully crafts a captivating musical journey that resonates with both his personal narrative and the universal human condition.

Throughout the album’s six-month recording process, Szyller takes on guitar and vocal duties, while Fabien Pilard contributes additional guitars, bass, keyboards, and backup vocals, and Meriem Rezik handles the drums. The result is a collection of songs that reflect Szyller’s lifelong passion for music and his diverse influences, including beloved bands like The Doors, Iron Maiden, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd.

Opening with the title track, “The Celestial Immigrant,” Szyller immediately immerses listeners in expansive and moody soundscapes reminiscent of Pink Floyd. The lyrics paint a metaphorical picture of a young boy traversing outer space, mirroring Szyller’s own nomadic childhood. The song’s ethereal blend of jangly and psychedelic guitars beautifully captures the chaotic yet beautiful nature of his upbringing.

Moving through the album, tracks like “My Road” and “Summer Kiss” showcase Szyller’s contemplative and optimistic sides, respectively. The former explores the fleeting impermanence of life, while the latter celebrates the joys of summer with reverby guitars and a touch of ’60s-flavored organ.

Embracing his progressive influences, particularly from King Crimson and Pink Floyd, Szyller weaves intricate melodies and captivating instrumental flourishes into the fabric of the album. “The Believer” tells the tale of a world traveler in search of a better life, while “King’s Hall” offers a medieval fantasy narrative that adds intrigue to the overall thematic arc.

A Conversation with Ben Stephenson - Exploring Inspiration and the Latest Single, "Faux Business"

In a recent interview between Ben Stephenson of Radio Vision and Mister Styx, we had the opportunity to gain insight into the artist’s background and their latest single, “Faux Business.” Ben Stephenson shared personal anecdotes and shed light on the driving forces behind their music.

When discussing his main inspiration, Ben Stephenson candidly expressed, “My main inspiration is the fact that I’m going to die one day, as corny as it sounds. But these songs will last far longer than I ever will, and I find that beautiful.” It is this realization that fuels his creative process, drawing from the music he loves, personal experiences, observations, and the stories he encounters unexpectedly, even while waiting in line at the grocery store.

Having started out playing drums in grade school, Ben Stephenson eventually transitioned to guitar due to the noise constraints imposed by his parents. This shift marked the beginning of a musical journey that continues to shape his unique sound.

Describing his music as a blend of psychedelic rock and blues, Ben Stephenson creates a captivating medley of influences and textures that embody whatever feels good to him at any given moment. This artistic fluidity allows him to craft songs that resonate deeply with his own emotions and captivate listeners in the process.

Delving further into his personal life, Ben Stephenson revealed that he currently works as a tattoo artist during the day, supplementing his income until his music can sustain him independently. Despite this, he remains committed to his musical pursuits and envisions a future where his artistry becomes his sole focus.

In the interview, Ben Stephenson provided a glimpse into his inspirations, musical style, and the duality of his life as both a tattoo artist and a musician. What is your stage name?
Ben Stephenson

Is there a story behind your stage name?
I’m sure there is, but my mother has never told it to me. I was almost named Oliver though.

Where do you find inspiration?
I find it in the music I love, experiences I have, situations I’ve observed, stories I’ve heard, you never really know until it happens and you could be in line at the grocery store and all the sudden it hits you.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
I started out playing drums in grade school but it was too loud for the parents so I went with guitar.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?
My family has visual artists on both sides and my grandmother plays great organ, but to my knowledge I’m the only one pursuing it in any capacity.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I had a music teacher at Concord who really fostered my love of music from a very young age and made me realize that people can actually do this for a job.

The slide guitar at the end of “Layla” by Derek and the Dominoes made me fall in love with rock music though and subsequently guitar.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I learned on my own a lot, using a handful of music books and some helpful internet resources. Still can’t make proper use of sheet music but my music theory knowledge is coming along nicely.

As far as singing My cousin had a boyfriend who was very musical years ago and he gave me a couple vocal lessons. but other than that my teachers were the records I grew up on and the musicians I look up to. Still hate my singing voice but that’s just human nature, hearing ourselves is a weird thing.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
The first concert I ever went to was technically Bliss Fest Music Festival, I couldn’t tell you who played though, I was very young. It’s a local bluegrass and folk music festival, we went every year for a long time. I remember being fascinated by the synchronicity of the band members, communicating with their instruments.

How could you describe your music?
Somewhere between psychedelic rock and blues, a medley of influences and textures to bring you whatever feels good to me at the time.

Describe your creative process.
It’s a absolute mess most of the time, but when I get the first pieces of an idea I tend to stick it in my looper pedal and try to come up with complimentary Melodie’s and from there start to build up something of a song structure.

Usually ends up in snippets as content on TikTok or Instagram once it has some shape to it. From there I usually spend a good day or so on recording it when I have the house to myself and can give the track my undivided attention with no distractions.

What is your main inspiration?
My main inspiration is the fact that I’m going to die one day as corny as it sounds. But these songs will last far longer than I ever will and I find that beautiful.

What musician do you admire most and why?
Foremost Jimi Hendrix, followed closely by David Bowie, Frank Zappa and Howlin’ Wolf

Their music speaks to me on a level I didn’t know I understood until I heard it. And their journeys are all equally inspiring as their music.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
My style evolves all the time. Mostly in the recording process, you’re forced to see your approach to an idea under a microscope in the mix and you start to see what works and what doesn’t then it just evolves.

I started out playing more punk adjacent music in my youth, very inspired by that scene and the cultural lense that came with it. As my rebellious nature subsided I found my way back to the blues though.

Who do you see as your main competitor?
Myself, my insecurities, I think the scene functions better if all the bands in that given area/sphere of influence interact cooperatively.

What are your interests outside of music?
Tattooing, Film, Art in various forms, Being in nature, Traveling

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
currently I daylight as a tattoo artist until music can pay the bills on its own, so I imagine I’d keep doing that.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
It’s simultaneously been made very easy for anyone to enter the music industry and have their music available in the same places as top artists, but also harder to make a living of.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
The focus on digital media, and the new trappings that come with it for artists in the form of low streaming royalties, and depending on social media (which throttles your reach unless you pay up)

They’ve commodified all the tools necessary to succeed and sold them back to us.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
I was once told (at length) that birds could see radio waves, which turned out to be false but their misguided passion for the topic and the name “Radio Vision” stuck with me.

What are your plans for the coming months?
I’ve got 5 more songs to release this year ready and sent over for mastering as we speak. Set to be released as singles but I may do an EP if I get too impatient. The slow burn is effective, but I want to share these songs with the world yesterday, I’m sure it will prove a valuable lesson in patience.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?
I have been in talks with a few people in the local scene here to fill in on instruments I don’t know how to play/ don’t have and am currently at work putting together a live band to take these songs on the road.

What message would you like to give to your fans?
If you don’t stop, no one can stop you.

The Timeless Charm of A Lens to the Sun's “Everything I Do”

There’s something undeniably magnetic about a band that can expertly breathe new life into a classic sound while staying true to its roots. A Lens to the Sun, a formidable progressive-rock quintet, does just that with their anthemic single, “Everything I Do.” By skillfully blending male vocals, rhythmic foundations, acoustic elements, and a captivating melody, they transport listeners to the enchanting landscape carved within the corners of nostalgia and modernity.

“Everything I Do” is more than just a track on an upcoming album – it is the opening page of a story, unfolding in installments released every six weeks. This carefully curated build-up culminates in a full-length album slated to grace our ears before year’s end. The band, featuring Gideon Prior on vocals and guitar, Erik Elstermann on guitar, Logan Elstermann on keyboards, Brendan Cutrer on bass, and James Coleman on drums, delivers an existential rock ballad boasting an expert understanding of the elements necessary to create that super catchy ’90s rock sound.

The song delves into the themes of searching for meaning amid chaos and mundane routines, ultimately realizing that genuine connections with others are what truly matter in life. Through their poignant lyrics and emotive melody, A Lens to the Sun reminds us of the feelings that artists like Nirvana and Pearl Jam sparked in our souls during their heyday. Grover Doyle: A Musical Journey Fueled by Passion and Perseverance

For young Grover Doyle, music has always played a pivotal role, filling the empty spaces of his life with melodies and rhythms. Starting with piano lessons as a child, Grover’s musical journey took a decisive turn when he picked up the guitar at the age of 12, setting him on a path to become one of the greatest musicians of his time.

The songs on this album seamlessly blend new wave synth tones with surfy reverb guitar, accompanied by forward and percussive basslines and intricate syncopated drums. The result is a fierce, brooding, yet tender sound that leaves a lasting impact on the listener.

With rusty vocals that add a unique character, Stutterboy’s music can be described as a fusion of 1980s Post-Punk and 1990s Psych Rock, infused with subtle elements of 1960s Northern Soul and West Coast Surf. What are your stage names

— for one of us — Grover Doyle. Everyone else goes by their given/government names.

Is there a story behind your stage name?
More of an anecdote, really. One day we were playing that game where you place random names in front of your surname, in a jestful effort toy around with the idea of naming one’s first born. Grover wound up in front of mind and I took to it.

Where do you find inspiration?

In conversation and people-watching, the music of others and how music aligns with the moment.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

All the empty spaces were filled with music of some sort. Whether it was my father’s songs in the car, stealing my older brother’s CDs to listen to with the living room stereo when no one else was around.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?
Musically inclined. Everyone in the family has artistic inclinations, but only a few have ever really pursued it beyond the hobby stage. My brother was the first real exception.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

I don’t know that I ever thought of it as becoming part of an industry, but music was always apart of my life, though it lie dormant for quite some time. I’ve always found it easy to gel with musicians or other musically inclined individuals, and so in watching my friends create the stuff, I inevitably caved to the compulsion.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

Had piano lessons off and on as a kid. When I picked up a guitar around the age of 12, I slowly, but eventually learned through various music books and tabs online (a newer convenience at that time).

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

Technically, the first was when my parents took me to Kenny G when I was four. The first concert I had an agency in attending was a local show of these pop punk and ska bands, a real suburban scene. I didn’t really know the bands but I felt really cool seeing a local show at 13.

How could you describe your music?
Our drummer describes it as if David Bowie directed a spaghetti western.

80'S ROCK ,90'S ROCK ,ALTERNATIVE ROCK ,GARAGE ROCK ,INDIE ROCK ,NEW WAVE ,Think The Smiths, POST-PUNK ,SURF ,80's VIBES ,MALE VOCALS ,US BASED ,ROCK ,RETRO GUITAR ROCK POP ,ALT ROCK POP ,ANTHEMIC ,SUPER CATCHY, STUTTER BOY, STUTTER BOY II, STUTTER BOY ALBUM, STUTTER BOY INTERVIEW, MISTER STYX, STUTTER BOY INTERVIEW WITH MISTER STYX
Our drummer describes it as if David Bowie directed a spaghetti western.

Describe your creative process.
It varies, but it usually starts with the spark of a melody that inspires obsession. If I can obsess properly, then a song will come to fruition.

What is your main inspiration?

The works of all the great ones.

What musician do you admire most and why?
Dead? David Bowie. Alive? Cate Le Bon.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

Certainly, feels that way. This project began with a very strong acoustic and surf bend. As pedals and amps become more involved, so the sound and songs developed.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

Supposed to say myself, right? I only feel animosity towards others when I’m unfocused.

What are your interests outside of music?

Books, movies, buildings, any kind of art that expands my perception and/or keeps me distracted. Deep diving obscure etymologies, histories, and WebMD.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

A life of pure squalor and/or corporate law.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

Getting it right.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

The insufferable personalities: the unnecessary gatekeeping, the ill-informed shit-checking, and people getting off on talking down to others.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

We don’t like to talk about it.

What are your plans for the coming months?

Write more. Record More. Play more.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?

Oh most definitely. Have another project cooking with an EP on the horizon there, we are currently tracking for that. I play bass for another band called Mooncult. They will be dropping singles all summer.

Unveiling the Authenticity of Vonnegut Hardware: A Journey Through Punk, Metal, and Alternative

ALTERNATIVE ROCK, CLASSIC ROCK ,ROCK N ROLL ,ROCK ,INDIE ROCK ,US BASED ,MALE VOCALS ,ANTHEMIC ,CLASSIC SOUND, APOCALYPSE BLUES, APOCALYPSE BLUES BY VONNEGUT HARDWARE, VONNEGUT HARDWARE INTERVIEW ,MISTER STYX, MISTER STYX INTERVIEW
Unveiling the Authenticity of Vonnegut Hardware: A Journey Through Punk, Metal, and Alternative

Welcome to today’s interview, where we have the opportunity to dive into the captivating world of Vonnegut Hardware, a band that has fearlessly ventured through various genres, from punk to metal, hardcore to post-hardcore, and now back to their alternative roots. Throughout their musical evolution, Vonnegut Hardware has always held the pursuit of authenticity as their guiding principle. In a recent conversation with Mister Styx of Musicarengh, Vonnegut Hardware shed light on the origin of their name and their latest single, “Apocalypse Blues.”

The band’s name draws inspiration from Kurt Vonnegut, an influential figure who holds a special place in their heart. Vonnegut Hardware was a hardware store chain in Indianapolis, owned by Kurt Vonnegut’s family during the early 20th century. It serves as a tribute to the author and pays homage to the band’s roots in Indianapolis history. The decision to adopt this name was not only a nod to their influences but also a means to offer multiple interpretations to their audience.

Vonnegut Hardware’s latest single, “Apocalypse Blues,” reflects the tumultuous year of 2020 and its impact on the band’s journey. As the world grappled with unprecedented challenges and lockdowns confined individuals to their homes, the band discovered a renewed appreciation for the importance of creating music. The song serves as a response to the chaos and showcases the band’s ability to channel their emotions into their craft.

Another notable track, “Broad Ripple Is Boring,” emerged from a pre-pandemic era and embodies the band’s punk rock essence. It playfully references the song “Broad Ripple is Burning” by Margot & the Nuclear So & Sos, as well as Chamberlain’s “Magnetic 62nd,” both of which depict Indianapolis’ renowned bar district. However, Vonnegut Hardware’s rendition reflects a realization that comes with age, acknowledging the transition from youthful revelry to a more mature perspective.

In this interview, we explore the creative process, inspirations, and aspirations of Vonnegut Hardware as they continue to carve their unique path in the alternative music scene. Join us as we unravel the genuine and captivating journey of this remarkable band.

What is your stage name:

Vonnegut Hardware

Is there a story behind your stage name?

Vonnegut Hardware was a hardware store chain in Indianapolis at the first half of the 20th century. Obviously owned by Kurt Vonnegut’s family. I thought it was a fun name because it pays tribute to Kurt, who has been a huge influence to me, and it references Indianapolis history, which is important to me. I started this as a solo project but didn’t want to use my actual name, It could mean a lot of things to different people.

Where do you find inspiration?
I’ve always made music for myself. It’s something I do for my own mental and social health. Just the act of creating something out of some notes in my head and hearing a full fleshed song a few months later is really rewarding.

When I first got into music I was in the punk and then the hardcore scenes. I’ve taken from them my general DIY ethic and aesthetic, but obviously have a lighter edge these days, and have grown as a musician. Overall I’m inspired by other artists who create really original stuff, it makes me want to push harder.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
Starting in middle school, music has always been a big part of my life. I started my first terrible band then, and have been in bands basically nonstop since. So many hours just going to shows, playing shows, playing my guitar late at night with headphones on. I’d like to think it shouldn’t take that level of obsession to get to the next level but that was my experience.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?
Not particularly.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I got a lot of inspiration from artists locally like Chamberlain, Burn It Down, and Virgil. It was really cool realizing at a young age that normal people could create something and be part of a scene and not have to pretend to be rock stars or any of that. When you take the commercial aspect out of the music, it’s really freeing.

I’d say probably obviously people like Kurt Cobain and Ian MacKaye were huge influences to me early on as well and have really shaped my worldview. These days I’ve been really more into pop acts like Guided By Voices, Teenage Fanclub and Nada Surf… they really distill the essence of the melody into something short and simple but completely pure. It’s so so so hard to do.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I took a couple guitar lessons but really was self taught. Just listening to punk albums and playing with friends. It’s a little frustrating because I don’t know many cover songs or formal training in music. So I mostly just play my own stuff. I’ve started crossing over and writing things on piano as well and that has helped with some of the writing process.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

The first big concert I remember was Soul Asylum, the Jayhawks, and Juliana Hatfield in the mid 90s. I’d still go see that lineup if they came back.

How could you describe your music?

I’ve always described my music, even in other acts I’ve done, as music for people who make music. Vonnegut Hardware is probably the most accessible thing I’ve done, and I’ve tried to move more towards the Teenage Fanclub / GBV melodies, but it’ll always have some dirty edge I’ll throw in there.

That’s part of the reason why I wanted Justin Avery in this band. We’ve known each other forever and talked about playing together but it never happened because we were both guitarists. In this band I wanted to take a back seat on guitar, focus on the songwriting and have him come in and do something crazy on top. I told him “I need you to be my Nels Cline”

Describe your creative process.
I don’t know. It just kind of happens. Usually, it’ll be some kind of guitar lick or vocal pattern and I’ll just build the song around that. Then when it’s 85% baked, I’ll bring it to the guys and we’ll bang it out until it all works.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
Absolutely. I started doing punk stuff, have done metal, hardcore, post-hardcore… and now I’m back to alternative stuff. It’s really mellowed. But I think generally I’ve always had a pretty laid-back aesthetic. I’ve always wanted to be genuine. I appreciated artists who worked on their aesthetic without pretending to be something they aren’t.

Who do you see as your main competitor?
Complacency.

What are your interests outside of music?
I’ve always been into comics, sci fi, literature, history. These days it’s mostly hanging out with my kids and doing what they do.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
I mean, I have a career. Music is what I do to escape from that. If I could make money full time on my own terms making music that would be great, but I know that it’s not realistic. So I just make my music and send it out into the world with no real expectations but that it fulfills me artistically.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
I’ve been adjacent to some pretty successful groups, but always wanted to maintain control of my own process. I think if I tried to make things for other people I might have more success but I wouldn’t be as happy. So it goes.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
I hate streaming, and the move away from albums. I know it makes me sound old but it’s just not something I’m in to. At the same time though, music has never been as accessible for artists than it is right now. The upside has dropped a lot but we can control our own destiny and reach more audiences more than any other time. It is what it is. No point fighting it.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
Apocalypse Blues is sort of self descriptive of the lyrics. 2020 happened right when I started this band and pushed everything back, and this song was a response to all that craziness. Being locked up at home, it really made me appreciate how important creating music is to me. Broad Ripple Is Boring is a song that I started pre-pandemic, a pretty straight up punky rock song.

It’s a tongue in cheek reference to another Indiana band (Margot & the Nuclear So & Sos)’s song “Broad Ripple is Burning”, and also sort of a reference to a Chamberlain song called “Magnetic 62nd”. Both of them are about a neighborhood in Indianapolis that is known as the bar district. This song is about the night you realize that you’re too old to be there getting wasted all the time.

What are your plans for the coming months?
Looking to do a bunch of shows, some regional touring. Nothing crazy. We’ve got some more songs in the can, and will probably do a physical release down the line. Then back in the studio, we’ve already started writing new stuff. And repeat.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
Musical Family Tree is an organization in Indiana that I love. They have a series called Indiana Covers where a current artist reimagines an older song by an Indiana artist. I’d love to do a couple of those.

What message would you like to give to your fans?
To quote another Indiana musician, Otis Gibbs, “Thanks for giving a damn”

What is your stage name:

My stage name is Mahad

Is there a story behind your stage name?

I just wanted to use my own name since I’ve never met any other Mahad’s and its just short and simple

Where do you find inspiration?

I find and draw most of my inspiration from poetry that I write which is most often created from me just wanting to find an outlet and an expression for my sometimes messy love life.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

Music has always been a part of my life. Even though I don’t come from a very musical family, music was always been played loudly where me and my siblings would spend all day watching MTV and all of its different genres, dancing and singing along to the music.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

Not at all, but I wish I was cause you and draw a lot of inspiration from your family members and maybe even help echoer and create music together.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

I would have to say two of my best friends from when I was 14-15? they both wanted to be singer/songwriters and I had never thought of it in the same way they did. They pretty much opened my eyes to the world of music so shoutout to Emma and Sara.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

I taught myself how to sing and the songwriting just came naturally, and I think that’s one of the reasons I love it the most in a way, since its something I’ve never had to fully teach myself even though I’m trying to hone my skill even more these days.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

My first ever concert was probably Rihanna’s Anti tour

How could you describe your music?

I would describe my music as R&B and pop mixed together but also separated at times.

Describe your creative process.

My creative process always starts of with me going into my poetry folder and trying to find a poem to base the songs of off and then trying to shape the lyrics from the poems with the beat and song until, using my already finished poems really makes everything go 10x faster.

What is your main inspiration?

I would say my main inspiration is just telling stories from my love life or how I wished my love live looked like.

What musician do you admire most and why?

I would have to say Frank Ocean for the way he just does what he feels like, when he feels like it, his art, his timeline is all his own and he’s in control of it all.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

My music journey has just begun but I feel like it will evolve and change, not sure what direction just yet.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

I don’t think any other artist is a competitor, I see them more as colleagues and potential collaborators to work with.

What are your interests outside of music?

I would say reading is one of my biggest interests at the moment, especially this book called “All About Love” by Bell Hooks, its such good read and I think everyone should read it.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

I think I’d be a farmer or a librarian since I love animals and a librarian since i love solitude and books haha.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

I would say the nervousness before a release and just continuing working on new projects all the time.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Maybe something that would make sure songwriters are valued more as well as everyone working behind the scenes of music?

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

It felt like the right choice somehow

What are your plans for the coming months?

Hopefully working on more projects, reading more books, and just creating more things with other people.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans

Not really in the plans yet

What message would you like to give to your fans?: I’m not sure I have a fanbase yet but I’d say just do things, don’t overthink, just do

Where do you find inspiration?

I found a lot of inspiration in movie soundtracks, the sounds and textures give me a lot of ideas for moods and visuals for my music.

Describe your creative process.

It always start with a lyric I want to use, or a beat idea. It starts with a very simple idea, then it involves to a song. I meet with my producers and we experiment until it matches my vision

What musician do you admire most and why?

I love Bjork, I believe she’s one of my biggest influences. Everything she does defies the realms of creativity and she inspires me to challenge myself in terms of songwriting.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Today’s music industry is all about numbers and streams. No one’s willing to take a risk anymore with artists despite their talent. Labels treat artists solely as investments, and it’s a lot of pressure on them to be seen. Talent on its own is not enough.

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

The title came quite late in the game. When I wrote the lyric ‘I got caught up again’, I knew that was the name of the track. It symbolises being hurt once again and knowing you have to go through the process of grief all over again.

What are your plans for the coming months?

Last minute outfits. No matter how prepared you are . Things can still go wrong.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

Its still early days for me , so far nothing comes to mind , but who knows what the future may hold

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

Because it’s the message of the song. People who drag you down for their own amusement will continue until you take a stand and tell them to go away.

What are your plans for the coming months?

Releasing my next single !!

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?

As of now I am focusing on my music, however its something I would like to see in my future . I would love to work with David Guetta or galantis

What message would you like to give to your fans?

I would say thank you for supporting me on this journey I couldn’t be where I am without you. Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Love yourself.

you are perfect the way you are.

Ghanaian Singer Darkua’s Release Soulful New Single "ECHO"

Ghanaian Afrofusion Artiste, Darkua has released her new single ECHO which marks her debut single for 2023. The new single is produced by the talented Ghanaian producer Viqtorioz who also produced Darkua’s debut single “Amalelor”.

Darkua takes listeners on a voyage of sexual self-discovery while enticing them to take control with her sultry voice. With the seamless fusion of Afrobeats and R&B, Darkua solidifies her identity as a musician who transcends genres.

ECHO is a perfect addition to any late-night intimate playlist, setting the tone with her soothing harmonies and vocals.

Speaking on the single, Darkua says;

ECHO’ is a song attributed to women being confident enough to have sexual conversations with their partner; telling them how they want to be pleased. Most women get shy when it comes to communicating how they want to be satisfied by their partners; hence, going with whatever their partners want. ‘ECHO’ is telling such women to be confident in telling their partners how they want it and not to be reluctant about being in control when they want to be.

The song has received massive support from streaming platforms globally. On Audiomack, Darkua is the face of On The Radar; Afrosoul. On Spotify, Darkua is the cover for Spotify Sizzlers. On Boomplay she is on the cover of Girl Vibes Playlist.

Being a Ghanaian/Nigerian-born musician, the blend of these two cultures has given her the opportunity to be influenced by  A.B Crenstil, E.T Mensah, Lagbaja, K.K Fosu, and Weird MC.
