R2Bees Mixtape (Hosted By Music Arena Gh)

Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem/Omar Sterling) and Rashid Mugeez (Paedae da Pralem/Omar Sterling) are cousins from Tema, Ghana, who form the hip hop and hiplife group R2Bees (Mugeez). They were nominated for a BET Award this year. Site 15, the duo’s third studio album, was released in March of this year.

Accra is the capital city of Ghana, while Tema is the city’s second-largest city, located to the east of the capital. Mugeez is the band’s primary singer, while Paedae is the group’s CEO and leader. The two cousins, who have been together since childhood, attended the same elementary, middle, and high school in Tema, Ghana.

They began their music career by participating in rap competitions and inter-school music competitions in their high school. As a result of this, they were invited to participate in Kasahare, a prominent radio competition in Japan, where they won most of the competitions and played in most of the programmes. In Ghana, R2bees are also revered as musical giants for their landmark album Camp Yard, which helped cement their status as a household name.

In August 2008, R2Bees released their debut song, dubbed ‘Yawa Gal,’ and it was an immediate success. ‘I Dey Mad’, a chart-topper in Ghana, was later released. Unda Melodies appeared on the track ‘I Dey Mad.’ Most Ghanaian Radio Music Charts ranked the song as the most popular for a long period of time.

R2Bees’ third song, ‘Kiss Your Hand,’ featured one of Nigeria’s top artists, Wande Coal. R2Bees did not respond to the criticism of their video.

‘Yawa Girl, I dey Mad, ‘T.E.M.A,’ ‘Kiss Your Hand,’ and ‘Radio,’ along with KillBeatz (Joseph Addison) production and guest performances from Wande Coal, Sarkodie, Samini, Kwaw Kese, and others, were released as part of R2Bees’ Da Revolution album in 2009.

‘Refuse To Be Broke – Da Revolution II’ was launched by R2Bees on March 29th, 2013, at the Accra Mall’s Silver Lounge. Hits like ‘Ajeii, ‘Life (Walaahi),’ ‘Odo, and Bayla Trap’ can be found on the 19-track album. Tinchy Stryder and Wizkid all had cameos on the album, which also included Sherifa Gunu, Davido, and Sherifa.

All of the songs on the album were created or co-produced by KillBeatz, who handled the album’s production.

R2Bees followed up last year’s great album release with the release of their first official 2014 single, “Lobi.” On September 25, 2014, the video for the highlife-inspired song was released. A lot of people have been listening to this since it came out.

R2Bees often perform in their native tongues, Twi and Pidgin, when they sing and rap. As a pioneer of Ghanaian hip pop, R2bees is one of the country’s best-known producers of hiplife, a fusion of hip-hop and reggae.

According to Forbes in 2012, R2Bees was among the top 13 African celebrities to keep an eye on this year.

It has been an honour for R2Bees to share the stage with artists from throughout the world, including American R&B singers Mario and J Holiday.
