Real Feelings, Real Music: Inside Zodic’s Valentine’s Anthem

The song Fall In Luv by Zodic is not a mere Valentine song release, it is the song that kick-started his whole musical career. Composed in 2017 with his first girlfriend in mind, this song started as a straightforward and sincere account of true emotions. Zodic desired every word to be intimate like as though it were a personal discussion, and that gritty, authentic feeling still resonates nowadays.

The legend of this song seems to be mere destiny. Two hours later, Zodic was in a home studio, after meeting with producer Brecht Lauren in a casino where they both were working, recording his very first song ever. They had no fancy equipment and they had lots of passion and they made his vision come true. when he attempted to play it to his girlfriend in his car, she responded with surprised and loving reaction, it was clear that the message was really received.

Over the years Fall In Luv followed an amazing journey through Cheney, Washington to Toronto where it was remixed and perfected into the song Zodic had always envisioned. The track, which is now completely actualized and released again, is an ideal reflection of youthful love and serious artistic development.

Sincere, heartfelt, and immensely personal, Fall In Luv makes us always remember that when true feelings are involved, they never go away, they only mature and get even greater. This is where the story of Zodic starts and what a lovely start it is.

“Zodic, congratulations on releasing “Fall In Luv” just in time for Valentine’s Day week! This song has such an incredible journey, from 2017 to now. Can you take us back to that moment when you first wrote it? What was going through your mind and heart when you put those feelings into words for your first girlfriend?
Honestly, at that time I was just writing everything I was feeling at that time. I wanted the song to feel personal, like I was talking just to her, so I wrote things that were simple & to the point.

Meeting Brecht Lauren at a casino and recording your very first song within two hours sounds like fate! What was that experience like, walking into his home studio and bringing this song to life for the first time? And what was her reaction when you played it for her in your car?
A: Honestly it does feel like fate, me & Brecht talk about it every now & then. He didn’t have the best equipment in the world, but it was enough to make things happen & that’s all that mattered. I ain’t gonna lie, I was so nervous to play it for her. When I did, she was like “is that really you??”. Let’s just say she loved it & she could really tell I meant it.

You mentioned that whenever you play this song for people, they really feel the love and resonate with it deeply. What do you think makes “Fall In Luv” connect with listeners on such an emotional level, even years after you wrote it?
Man, it’s just genuine. It’s authentic, raw. At the time when I made the song, I was legitimately in love. I can’t get that feeling back again. Which is why I’ve kept it with me for so long. It made me. It jumpstarted my whole career, everything I’ve ever believed in was in that song. People still love it because anyone who still believes in love, the right kind of love, keeps that dream alive for them as it does for me. Even now.

The song has traveled quite a journey, from Cheney, Washington to getting remixed in Toronto by Tyler Bugara and mastered by David Mason. How does the 2024/25 version compare to that original 2019 recording? What new energy or perspective does it bring?
Everything I intentionally wanted the song to sound like in that track back then, it sounds that way now & you have no idea how relieving it was to have the track with a proper mix, fully fleshed out so the listener can hear the track as intended. Between the new version & when I mixed it, night & day.

You’ve got some exciting shows lined up this summer in Washington, Vancouver, and Portland! How does it feel performing this very personal first song live, especially now that it’s been remastered and rereleased?
A: I’m not sure if I’ll ever perform this song live, at least not for a long time. I might do acapella though! This is a type of song that’s for your ears & your ears only. Or if you’re with your girl too! I am however planning on some kind of Northwest Tour so I’m sure everything’ll work out when the time comes.
