Nottingham’s Euplasia Reclaims Childhood Magic in “Hallayoola”

Nottingham-based solo artist Euplasia has briefly stepped away from the intense realities of the NHS frontlines to deliver “Hallayoola”, a hyper-colorful, foot-stomping indie rock single. After devoting years to fatherhood and public healthcare, you might expect his return to music to carry the heavy, exhausted weight of those environments. Instead, we get pure, unapologetic serotonin.

Following his recent drop “You Wonder” (which will also serve as the title track to his upcoming debut album), this new song actively excavates the chaotic, unstructured imagination of childhood. A bright, dangerously bouncy melody skips across a rapid chord progression and a driving pulse that mimics a sugar-rushed heartbeat. Right in the middle of the interludes, a slightly overdriven, triumphant hook rips through the arrangement. It acts as an electric zap to the tired adult nervous system.

Euplasia uses this release to celebrate the beautiful absurdity of acting entirely on impulse. There is no logical justification required for the warm optimism radiating off these energetic beats. It demands you abandon overthinking entirely and lean into the sheer, intuitive joy of feeling alive.

When exactly did we unlearn the absolute freedom of our own minds, and can a soaring pop-rock anthem shock it right back into us?
