Leeds band Hitlist return with ‘Dirtbrain’ – a lively and catchy single that really packs a punch with the first listen. Full of buzzing guitars, direct vocals and that nasty addictive beat, it’s an exciting, hard to ignore combination of Britpop, post punk, punk, funk and nu-metal.
The fun of “Dirtbrain” is in its lack of order. It’s so serendipitous how it all fits together and yet it remains so catchy. Within no time you will be tapping your feet, nodding your head or just moving to the rhythm. The swirling guitars give even more excitement, and make it a simple song to repeat.

The lyrics reflect contemporary frustrations, boredom and light-hearted rebellion and remind you to let go of the negativity and stuff yourself with fun.
The single is the next in their debut single “Girlfriend” and their debut EP “Human Cereal”, and provides another intriguing glimpse into the direction of Hitlist. It’s not that long – less than three minutes – so make every second count.
B-side, ‘Alliser Thorne’, is also a good listen. “Dirtbrain” is a wonderful introduction into Hitlist for new players!
