“Same Blue Sky” explores themes of connection, distance, and shared human experience. What inspired you to write the song, and what story did you want it to tell?
“Same Blue Sky” was written while I was in Turkey, and it’s rooted in a true, lived-in experience where every line carries real significance. I kept the imagery close to the actual moment—from the crimson sun and lazy days to eyes glazed from the beyaz wine (white wine in Turkish)—because I wanted listeners to feel present in that setting.
Behind the sun-drenched feel, there’s a subtle turning point in the lyrics, with lines like “sadness for you, baby I’m done.” It speaks to that moment when a facade drops, the mask slips, and you realize you’ve reached your limit. Rather than anger, it’s about quietly choosing yourself, recognizing when to step away from the nonsense, and knowing that the loss ultimately rests on the other side.
While songwriters use creative freedom so every detail isn’t strictly literal, every word here serves that core journey. These feelings are universal, and my hope is that listeners find their own meaning in the story—realizing that even as paths diverge, we all ultimately exist as strangers under that same blue sky.

I loved playing with that juxtaposition—taking a deeply meaningful, heavy theme and giving it a lighter, more approachable delivery. The lyrics explore something quite profound and melancholic, but pairing them with breezy atmospheric textures, driving 80s synth-pop energy, and a sun-drenched groove creates a conscious contrast. It gives the song a glossy pop veneer on the surface while keeping all that emotional depth underneath.
You recorded “Same Blue Sky” at Bluebird Studios with producer Declan Lonergan. What was the creative process like working together on the track?
Working with Declan at Bluebird Studios is always a collaborative and intuitive experience. We focused heavily on dialing in the exact textures and vocal energy to balance the track’s emotional depth with its synth-pop drive. Declan has a great ear for bringing out the dynamic range in my vocals, ensuring the final mix felt both expansive and intimate.
Your music often brings together dark pop, synth-pop, and emotive storytelling. How would you say “Same Blue Sky” reflects the evolution of your sound as an artist?
I definitely refuse to stay in my lane or just hit ‘copy and paste’ for every song. Every release needs to feel distinct because different emotions require different sounds, textures, and energies. “Same Blue Sky” reflects that evolution by pushing into a brighter, sun-drenched nu-disco space while keeping the dark pop sensibilities and lyrical depth underneath. It’s about constantly evolving and letting the emotion of the story dictate where the music goes next.
There is a strong retro-modern feel to the single. What attracts you to 80s-inspired synth sounds, and how do you make them feel fresh and personal to you?
There’s a raw, nostalgic emotion built into 80s synth tones—they carry a dramatic, cinematic quality that instantly sets a mood. To make them feel current and personal, I contrast those classic analogue textures with modern vocal production, nuanced phrasing, and personal storytelling. It allows the music to honor retro influences while remaining distinctly my own.
Your songwriting is known for its evocative and emotional quality. How important is storytelling to you when creating a song?
Storytelling is the foundation of everything I do. A song needs to carry an authentic emotional narrative so that the listener can connect with what’s behind the lyrics rather than just a catchy hook. Even when shaping a story creatively, the core truth of the experience remains intact. Human emotions are universal, and as long as that underlying honesty is there, people will connect with the song and discover their own truth within it.
“Same Blue Sky” has a commercial pop appeal while also carrying a darker, atmospheric quality. Was finding that balance something you consciously focused on during production?
Yes, it was definitely a conscious focus. I wanted the track to have an immediate, uplifting pulse that fits seamlessly on commercial radio, but without losing the moody, atmospheric depth that gives the song its emotional core. Stripping away either element would have compromised the story we were trying to tell.
You have received Irish commercial radio airplay and support from Hot Press and Dublin City FM. How does that support feel as an independent artist building your career?
It’s incredibly validating. As an independent artist, you invest so much of yourself into writing, recording, and releasing your work. Having respected platforms, radio hosts, and publications support the music gives it momentum and helps connect the songs with a much wider audience, which I’m always very grateful for.
As a Dublin and Kildare-based independent artist, how has your environment and experience in Ireland influenced your music and artistic identity?
Living and creating between Dublin and Kildare gives me a mix of grounded perspective and creative focus. Ireland has such a rich tradition of lyrical depth and storytelling, and being surrounded by that environment naturally encourages you to write with authenticity, grit, and emotional clarity.
Looking ahead, what does “Same Blue Sky” represent for you at this stage of your journey, and what would you like listeners to take away from the song?
“Same Blue Sky” represents a moment of growth and clarity for me as an artist, solidifying the direction I’m taking with my music. There’s no bitterness in this song—I believe every experience carries value and becomes part of the wider tapestry of life. Shared moments matter, even if they don’t lead to something in the traditional sense like marriage or a lifelong partnership. It’s a bit like the butterfly effect—the small flap of a butterfly’s wings in one place can cause a typhoon somewhere far away. A brief encounter can shift something inside you and shape who you are. I hope listeners take away the beauty in finding that silver lining, appreciating a moment for what it was, and gracefully moving forward.
