A Slow Collapse Set to Sound: Evan & The Crimson Creep Deliver

Evan’s latest single “Erosion,” featuring the crimson creep, hit the indie scene on February 9 like a bolt of lightning. Dark, emotional, and incredibly personal, this song captures the slow unraveling of a relationship, not through one dramatic moment, but through the gradual weight of small problems that pile up over time. The track feels heavy yet totally hypnotic, pulling you into a story of love fading piece by piece.

Everything started with the crimson creep’s haunting synth keys. From the first listen, Evan knew this sound carried something truly special and built the vocals and guitar around that mesmerizing atmosphere. The result is a rich blend of moody synth textures and raw emotion that feels both intimate and cinematic at once. The lyrics dive into bottled pain and emotional explosions, revealing the inner struggles behind the music with powerful honesty.

Recorded partly in Evan’s old Simla bedroom studio and later polished in a basement laboratory, the track keeps its gritty indie edge without feeling overproduced. That rough authenticity is part of what makes it so compelling.

“Erosion” continues Rubbish Party’s strong focus on relationship storytelling, a theme fans already love. With clear musical influences and a fearless creative approach, Evan and the crimson creep have delivered a haunting indie anthem that feels genuine, intense, and absolutely unforgettable.

Evan, “Erosion” featuring the crimson creep dropped like a bomb on Feb 9th—what’s the rush behind this haunting indie banger shaking up the scene?
Well, at its core, it’s about a failed relationship. But unlike a quick and fast breakup this song is about a years long decay, an erosion, a steady decline, where small daily issues slowly hollow out the partnership. The crimson creep crafted such an excellent groove for this tune and I built off of that.

You and synth wizard Samuel Cummings (the crimson creep) go way back to high school. How does that old-school bond fuel your Rubbish Party magic on this track?
Well, me and the crimson creep, we believe we were spiritually sent back to this earth together once more. Why? Well that’s yet to be found out, but we are connected heavily. We have lived almost the same life, jailed by our partners, treated like trash by them, we both had kids with them extremely young, he has two daughters, I two sons, and a marriage will be arranged between them, as tradition calls for.

Of course, as is known, we believe we are reincarnated Germanic Lords, and as such, our world views are unconventional, to say the least. We don’t believe in equality or human rights. I know that shocks people but we carry that 7th century mindset from our past lives with us. This new world is foreign and sick. So yeah put experiences they just blend together really well, and it shows in this track I think, and it’s showed in our band Rubbish Party’s work, I would argue, maybe arrogantly so… that Love and Decay is one of the best indie albums of this century.

Those lyrics about a relationship crumbling—”I bottled up the pain, until I exploded”—hit hard! What’s the raw story that poured into “Erosion”?
Well, as stated earlier it’s the story of an eroding relationship. This partner who I was with, well no matter what she couldn’t believe I actually loved her. It was rather sad, and she treated me so poorly and I held it in for a very long time before I exploded into terrible and frightening rages and became something truly evil.

Well, as stated earlier it’s the story of an eroding relationship.

Crimson’s mesmerizing synths steal the show alongside your soulful vocals and guitar. How did his keys shape this crumbling-love soundscape?
His keys shaped it because this song started with his keys… when I first heard it I knew we were going to use it, and I built the rest of the song around those keys and I think they fit the atmosphere of the song splendidly.

From migration-era Germanic Lords reincarnates to indie stars—despite the past drama, how has your journey amped up this release?
It’s been more than a journey; it’s been a siege. Not many artists can say their tour schedule was dictated by federal murder investigations against them, and the kind of ‘Void’ that would break a lesser man. But we aren’t just artists we are Lords, At our core, we carry the ancestral memory of the Germanic Lords, men who knew that territory isn’t given, it’s reclaimed through grit.

The ‘rough and rocky road’ didn’t wear us down; it sharpened us. I think the audience senses that weight. They aren’t just listening to a song; they are witnessing a Redemption Arc forged in ‘Good, Evil, and Death.’

Recorded in your old Simla bedroom studio, then polished in “the laboratory” basement. What gave it that gritty, authentic indie edge?
I think it’s that, per usual, we don’t polish it as much. We did polish this one more then other recordings from that bedroom, but it still has that original indie flare to it I think.

As Rubbish Party frontman, you’re a lyrical genius. How does “Erosion” stand tall among your catalog and build hype for what’s next?
It stands tall because it builds off of what people have said Rubbish Party has done so well and that’s writing about relationships. From the world famous Love and Decay EP, to our original earlier tracks, relationships have been at the core, and erosion fits that theme well.

Your cult following is exploding—why do fans connect so deeply with this blend of poignant pain and synth wizardry?
I think it’s because we are real, we don’t hide what we are. We don’t mince words and we don’t pretend to be PC in this day and age, which can get you canceled, but I’m not ashamed of what I am and was and continue to be. Neither is the crimson creep. And so, Fans are gravitating toward us because we represent the one thing the modern world is terrified of: Unfiltered Sovereignty. In an era of manufactured personas and ‘PC’ sanitization,

We are a raw nerve. We don’t mince words, and we don’t hide our scars. We’ve roamed the mountain through the ‘Void,’ and we’ve come back with a sound that doesn’t apologize for existing.I am exactly what I was, and I am evolving into exactly what I am meant to Be. The ‘Sewer Rats’ might scurry from the light, but our followers are drawn to the fire of the truth. We don’t seek permission; we seek resonance.

The crimson creep as his own creator, you on lyrics—what influences sparked this perfect storm of haunting melodies and real-talk emotion?
Well I’ve always loved Modest Mouse, Future islands, ECT. The Crimson Creep is big on bands like Inner Wave, benches, Archer Oh, ECT. We both love the smiths as well.

With tour plans brewing, how will “Erosion” ignite live shows and keep rocking the indie world to its core?
Well our stage presence has been called special and this will add to that flame, it’s a fun one to play. Thanks guys.
