What is your real and official showbiz name?
My real name is Casey Stramel and my Stage name is Zoolie Brasco
How long have you been making music and what attracted you to it?
Been making music for about 20 years and honestly think Biggie and 2pac attracted me to it.
What were your first project and the people you worked with and which year?
The first project was an album called ‘Upcoming and Counting’ with a group I was in called Blaze Mafia in 2004.
Who or what inspires you or motivates you? And why?
My family and the pursuit of happiness. I get excited about learning new things and am always on the path to bettering myself. I am constantly working on myself and my craft.
I root for the underdog and love a good comeback story. I have been to the very bottom and have had to overcome some serious hardships and obstacles. There is nothing better than a “nothing to something” success story.
What are your friend’s and parents’ thoughts on your career in singing?
I’ve been blessed, my friends and family have always been more than supportive of my music career and have backed me %100.
The people I have in my corner now have been there since day one. They believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.
What are some of the challenges you face in your career path?
Some challenges in my career path are I’m from a smaller town, and I am a full-time father.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
At first and for many years I hated the internet and thought it would be the death of the hip-hop culture, but now I think highly of it.
I think it has given a lot of musicians the chance to get discovered in a way that they wouldn’t have had before. Anyone can use and put themselves on the internet for anyone to see.
Do you have any advice for aspiring songwriters?
Advice for aspiring songwriters, get your materials copyrighted. Make sure the service provider you go through actually works with the US copyright office.
A lot of businesses advertise copyright services, but not all of them actually %100 legally copyright your material through the US copyright office.
What is your current project about?
I am currently working on a few singles not yet compiled into an album that I plan on pushing as hard and as far as I can. Sturdy is one of them.
What does this song mean to you?
The song sturdy is about being strong-spirited, strong-minded, and strong-willed against adversities and coming out on top in the end.
What are your hobbies?
I like to paint, photography/filmmaking, and world War 2 documentaries, lol.
What do you do aside from this profession?
Aside from this profession, I’m involved in building custom homes.
