What is your stage name
My name is Zenodro.
Is there a story behind your stage name?
Zenodro is actually my last name spelt backwards. There’s more to it, but I’ll explain it more in future releases.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration from other artists, new and old. And from life.
What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
I used to be bullied when I was a kid, so I used music as a sort of escape, and ever since then I have been in love with it.
Are you from a musical or artistic family?
My extended family are extremely musical! I have cousins that play all sorts of instruments, and I guess part of that helped me get in to music.
Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
No one in particular. I just love music, and I wanted to be a rapper for a while, but it wasn’t until recently when I started taking it seriously and I knew I wanted to give it my all to make it.
How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
Practice, practice, practice. I try to practice everyday, and have noticed considerable improvement.
What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
Screamfest 07’. TI and Ciara were headlining. And Believe it or not, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Swizz Beats, Wyclef AND Diddy all came out that night!
How could you describe your music?
I would describe it as eclectic. I try to incorporate elements from different types of music to make the best possible tracks I can make.
Describe your creative process.
My creative process has changed over the last few weeks. I first pick a beat I am interested in. I try to come up with a melody for how I want the track to sound to that particular beat.
Once I have the melody in mind, I then try then write to the beat I have. I then do some rough recordings to see how it sounds, and then when I’m satisfied with the sound I go into the studio.
What is your main inspiration?
My mom, while she may not support me on my musical journey she has always been there for me regardless.
What musician do you admire most and why?
There are so many good ones. Eminem was my first inspiration and he’s the one who got me into rap music. His cadence in my opinion is second to none.
Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
Absolutely. I am continuing to develop and incorporate new styles as I continue. My style is definitely been developing into a more melodic style, while still incorporating lyricism.
Who do you see as your main competitor?
Myself. Every time I record I try to do better than the last time I was in the booth. I know I’m just beginning to show what I am truly capable of, however I sometimes can go through times of questioning myself. I know it’s normal for artists to go through this, but that’s why I feel like I am my main competition, because I always ask myself: ‘Can I up myself from last time?’
What are your interests outside of music?
I actually love being fit and being active. I do Muay Thai and started doing Jiu Jitsu and also love going to the gym. I love watching Netflix and am into anime! Currently watching One Piece, and I love it.
If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
I would most likely still be doing something to lift people up, so if not music then maybe something in the medical field!
What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
Being able to implement a catchy melodic tune while not sacrificing any lyrical substance from the track. That’s something I’m constantly improving on.
If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
I want people to stop robbing artists. Today streaming is the main source of where people are heard. But people will prey on these unsuspecting artists, asking for money to be put on playlists, but a lot of the times these playlists are just filled with bots. This practice of payola just needs to stop altogether.
Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
Wanted the track name, ‘Who Ya Know’ to be in relevance to me and the skills I have.
What are your plans for the coming months?
I’m planning on releasing a bunch of singles with my next one coming out in December with rapper Zano. Every few weeks I will be dropping a new single. And I know I’m getting better with each new release. I will be switching up my flow on the subsequent releases, so I’m excited to show everybody what I have been coming up with! I also merchandise coming out soon so be on the look out for that. And it won’t be just the typical merchandise. I want something unique that you would actually wear when you are out!
Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
Yes, I have two collaborations coming up. One with Rapper Zano for a song called ‘Ven Aqui’ and another with rapper Samuel Vincent coming out after called ‘Unstoppable’. Be on the look at for those.
What message would you like to give to your fans?
Thanks to everyone for the continued support! I hope you continue to follow me throughout this journey. Keep on the lookout for future pre-saves of singles. I will be doing merchandise give-aways! I am also releasing another track in December featuring another artist, Zano!
