The Band Ice Cream Stuns Us With – “NET POSITIVE”

The Band Ice Cream (TBIC) is an indie pop/ rock group consisting of 4 individually talented musicians. Juxtaposing the sounds of Courtney Barnett, Parquet Courts, John Prine, Margaret Glaspy, and the Silver Jews, The Band Ice Cream is a unique and delicious concoction. Explosive arrangements packed with everything from shrieking guitar feedback to symphonic percussion embed themselves somewhere between a summertime friendship and the one house concert you left with a black eye. They sound like they got their start in the DIY movement, yet they’ve already played with Sunflower Bean, Japandroids, and Hot Flash Heat Wave.

The Band Ice Cream is out with a single titled “NET POSITIVE” which is taken from their album dubbed “Play Dead”. Like taking a deep breath, the phrase “NET POSITIVE” encourages listeners to see the bright side of any given scenario. The first verse has a similar lightness, with an open-tuned acoustic guitar interweaving with meditative, visually-oriented vocals before the chorus finally arrives.

TBIC (The Band Ice Cream) has released two lps thus far, but their upcoming third album will be their first foray into the seas of a deeply felt and thoughtfully crafted album. Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Jeff Rosenstock, Remo Drive) did the recording for PLAY DEAD, while Tim Vickers alias Grandbankss did the producing (Tia Nomore, Ricky Lake).

Rounding out 2022 The Band Ice Cream will be touring in promotion of PLAY DEAD and hitting the studio to begin tracking their new album in December.
