Sofi Gev Releases Her Latest Single ‘Its Alright’
Hannah Lovelady is an American singer-songwriter and indie pop musician who goes under the moniker Sofi Gev. Her music, which is influenced by artists such as Birdy, Aurora, Maggie Rogers, Coeur De Pirate, Regina Spektor, Shara Nova of My Brightest Diamond, and Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes, layers introspective, offbeat lyrics and delicate vocals over a dreamy blend of indie pop, electronica, and indie folk.
Her father’s singing Joni Mitchell songs to her as a youngster was her earliest and most lasting musical impact. Sofi Gev’s songwriting career began when she was a youngster when she would occupy herself on family road trips by putting up goofy tunes with her younger sister. She began playing the French horn in middle school band class after taking piano lessons and continued through high school.
She cultivated her sense of melody by singing the lyrics of cookbook recipes as her father played acoustic guitar. If you listen carefully, you will hear a lady fearlessly, hesitantly, but honestly embracing and confronting life expressed in an intimate yet universal way.
” I wrote It’s Alright as a playful take on some of our fears and anxieties, real and imagined. But while we worked on the production, the pandemic began to spread and the lyrics started to feel eerily relevant. Hopefully, it can spread a little lighthearted fun in a scary, weird time.” – Sofi Gev
