Semler Talks About Their Music Career And Newest EP ‘Stages Of A Breakdown’

Los Angeles native Semler is an accomplished singer-songwriter and content developer. When their EP Preacher’s Kid shot to the top of the Christian music charts on iTunes, Semler became the first openly LGBT musician to occupy that position in the industry.

In October 2021, Semler achieved a similar accomplishment with their EP Late Bloomer, which climbed to the top of the Billboard album chart. There were 250k+ Spotify streams in the first week and double that on Apple Music in the first week of the song’s release.

Take a look at what they have to say about their musical journey thus far, as well as their future plans.

How did you get into music?
I would write songs and jingles in my head when I was a kid, but I got more serious when I started teaching myself guitar.

Who or what inspires you or motivates you? And why?
I’m always inspired when I feel emotionally or spiritually stuck. My wheels started spinning trying to song-write my way into a different headspace.
