For nearly two decades, Riton has been at the forefront of the dance music scene in the UK. He has worked with everyone from Fat Boy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, and Diplo to Tame Impala and M.I.A., racking up over 2 billion global streams in the process.
He is a legendary and enormously influential producer who bridges the gap between the underground (Ed Banger, Soul Wax, Ministry of Sound) and the mainstream.
Riton, a seminal, GRAMMY-nominated UK dance music stalwart and producer behind 2021’s international mega-hit ‘Friday’ featuring Mufasa & Hypeman, and the much-revered South African Amapiano pioneers, Major League Djz, have teamed up on a record that is bursting with energy and musicality, and it is now available on Atlantic Records. The record is titled “Chalé.”
Chalé is a phrase that is commonly used as both an icebreaker and a term of endearment in Ghana and throughout West Africa, and it simply translates to mean ‘friend.’ – also enlists Ghanaian star King Promise, who has already collaborated with the likes of Wiz Kid., WSTRN, and Kojey Radical, and breakthrough vocalist, Clementine Douglas.
The hook echoes a conversation that took place between Promise and Douglas, in which they both expressed their desire to live life freely and fully of enjoyment regardless of opinion.
It is an appropriate motif for a track that captures joy in such a visceral way because it features an infectious, pulsating beat and rhythmic patterns.
