About Desmond Parson
Desmond Parson is a visionary, a lover of music, and a songwriter. Music was and continues to be an opportunity for him to express himself. Desmond’s passion in music peaked at the age of four, when his grandmother played recordings by Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, and Michael Jackson in Washington, D.C. However, it was one musician in particular, Stevie Wonder, who his grandmother played that would forever influence his passion for and attitude to music. Desmond learned the multiple roles of an artist by analyzing Stevie Wonder’s records; a vocalist, writer, composer, producer, and arranger, all of which Desmond plays on all of his projects.
Desmond began playing the piano at the age of ten, learning melodies taught to him by his uncle. Desmond’s musical journey has taken him from joining singing groups in high school to now directing his own band, Soulfied Village. Desmond has performed at several historic venues in the Washington D.C. area, including Takoma Station Tavern, Smith Public Trust, and The Kennedy Center, as part of his involvement in the DC music scene, and has shared the stage with the R&B group, The Dramatics. Desmond blends R&B and neo-soul influences to create his unique sound.
