R&B Artist Khamari Releases New Song Dubbed “Doctor My Eyes”
Khamari is a vocalist, pianist, guitarist, independent artist, composer, and producer with many talents. Khamari grew raised in Boston’s Dorchester area. His debut album wraps his emotionally genuine songwriting around current sonics, with great production from Trackside as well as his own.
Khamari’s music is influenced by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Sly Stone, as well as Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, and Mac Miller. Khamari’s career kicked off with three Spotify New Music Friday positions, including a #10 rank for his sophomore song The Heat.
His editorial support was rounded out as the cover artist for Spotify’s Fresh Finds, and additional playlisting on Apple Music FEELS, Amazon’s The New Black and Breakthrough R&B, and Tidal’s Pop: Rising.
“Doctor, My Eyes is about looking for perspective. When I wrote it I had moved from Boston to LA and was trying to make sense of my life. A lot of things were shifting too fast to keep up with, but things I hoped would change stayed the same. I got put on to this Jackson Browne record, and the story resonated with me. That’s where I got the title. It’s about him being desperate to make any sense of his life and experiences. Then a friend played me Incubus, the song ‘Mexico’. I knew I wanted to lay out these thoughts over a guitar that intimate. In the outro, my grandfather is the voice that gives me advice because he’s always been an anchor for me” – Khamari
Khamari’s first chapter is off to a strong start, with over 4 million combined listens in his first three tracks, including 500k in The Heat’s first week on Spotify alone. “Doctor, My Eyes” finds Khamari in a contemplative realm, both musically and emotionally, as he captures the weight of feeling too much and losing self-awareness. Khamari, Trackside, and Johan Lenox produced the new song.
