Pronto Valid Unlocks His Latest EP ‘Midnite Flowers’

Hip-hop artist, songwriter, and composer Pronto Valid was born in Chicago.

His songs are easily recognisable due to their eclectic blend of musical influences and heartfelt, descriptive lyrics. His musical palette is broad, and he aims to forge a personal connection with his listeners by drawing on a variety of life events.

The summer EP “Midnite Flowers” from Chicago’s Pronto Valid has finally arrived. Insight into the artist’s current thoughts and feelings is shown in this piece. All four tracks include straightforward, harsh language that provides an insider’s look at the stresses and anxieties that modern musicians face on the job.

In fact, he has been recording and engineering his own music since he was fifteen years old, a practice he continues to this day and which inspired him to decide to become a producer. He maintained a steady output of new music throughout his time in high school and college, all the while studying to get a degree in the music business.

The album opens with “GOAT,” in which Pronto traces the origins of the humility and ambition that fuel his music.

The EP’s third track, “GET AWAY,” has more introspective and laid-back music and marks a big mood change. He blames his introversion on cutting ties with pals in his teens who were toxic to his growth as an artist and his mental health.

Had a conversation with him and he spoke about his music career and upcoming projects.

What is your real and official showbiz name?
My stage name is Pronto Valid, but my real name is Haris Jaganjac.

What drew you to music production in the first place?
In my childhood days, I used to play basketball while listening to music at the same time as a form of stress relief. Once I decided Basketball wasn’t my true calling, I knew music would be where I wanted to focus my efforts.

I was always infatuated by it and would be inspired by the lyrics I heard from other MCs. It made me want to tell my own story and put my own perspective out there for others to experience.

What or whom do you go to for inspiration or motivation?
It really depends on the day. I’m very honest about myself and frankly, there are some days when I lack motivation and inspiration entirely no matter what I do.

But when I really want (or need) to get my creative juices flowing, I usually go for a walk, go to the gym, shoot some hoops, or listen to various playlists on Spotify with artists like J. Cole, Drake, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, and many others.

What are some of the obstacles you encounter in your career?
One of the biggest obstacles I’ve come across in my career is just getting people to care about whatever it is that you’re doing. It’s very hard to draw people’s attention if you don’t know what catches their attention and connects with them on a deeper level.

The more work I’ve done throughout my career, the more I’ve realized how important a captivating story can be and how important knowing your audience is.

What distinguishes you as a creative individual?
One of the major things I hear from people is that my songs are often relatable and very honest while painting a clear picture of the situation or emotion I am trying to describe. As a lyricist, I try to make sure each line flows into the next and gives the listener as accurate – and honest – of a glimpse as they can get into the idea I am laying out.

Along with storytelling, I incorporate metaphors and similes in a way that may take you a few times to understand, and each punchline usually contains layers to the meaning of it. I also produce and engineer all of my own music – which leads to an unexpected and unique sound coming from someone who’s an underground rapper in Chicago, IL.

What’s the significance of the current song or album in your life?
MIDNITE FLOWERS means a lot to me as it is as close to an unfiltered perspective on my life and feelings as a person and creator as I can get to at this point in time. I feel like it’s a project that I needed to release to get things off of my chest and reiterate other ideas I haven’t necessarily driven clearly across to my audience throughout the years.

It’s very personal and was challenging at times to write, but felt amazing once I released it as I’ve had these ideas and feelings bubbling underneath for a long time.

What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently working o a few different things. As far as new music goes, I’m gearing up to release another EP (Or Album) sometime in the Winter after releasing a few new singles along with another new music video to my song AFTER HOURS. I’m also working on merchandise and a contest for my listeners to enter to win free t-shirts/accessories. I’ll be announcing more about that on my socials.

What are your plans for the year ahead?
I plan to continue working on new material and collaborate with more creatives around me on various projects. I’ll also be having more live shows as well as a new podcast series in addition to the one I currently host with my girlfriend (Raw Mentality Podcast). I’m super excited for this next year to come!
