AN ORANGUTAN was kidnapped from her mother as a baby and pimped out as a prostitute for men twice her size.

Pony the orangutan was chained to a wall, lying on a dirty mattress, with a full face of make-up and forced to have sex with men working in the nearby palm oil farm in Borneo, Indonesia for years.

She was shaved daily which left her skin irritated, covered in sores and prone to mosquito bites.

The orangutan was forced to wear jewellery and perfume as well as taught how to perform sex acts.

She would also gyrate her hips when a punter came to the door before being raped.

Former teacher Michelle Desilets was director of Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation UK when Pony was rescued.

She told The Sun Online:

“It was horrifying. She was a sex slave – it was grotesque. She was covered in abscesses, and they put makeup and earrings on her.She must have been in so much pain. It was horrible to think about how terrified she must have been.”

It is not known exactly how long Pony was forced into sex slavery.

Experts believe she was taken from her mother as an infant and most orangutans usually stay with their mum for the first seven to 11 years of their lives.

Pony was estimated to be around six years old when she was found.

Lone Droscher-Nielson, who was in the team who rescued Pony in 2003, said:

“When I found that she was used for prostitution and not just a pet I was horrified.

“Perhaps in my naivety I had never thought it humanly possible to do such a thing to an animal.”

Pony was eventually rescued from her hell, but it wasn’t straight forward. The local community was extremely reluctant to let Pony go because she was such a good source of income.

Ms Desilets said the rescue team were threatened with knives and guns.

It took 35 armed police to rescue the abused animal and when they found her she was in terrible condition both physically and mentally.

Ms Desilets added: “I met Pony shortly after she was rescued. Her resilience is amazing. Despite the trauma, she maintained a dignity, and sense of humour.”She had the best personality, and learned how to trust very quickly, despite what she’d been through.”
