What is your stage name
Is there a story behind your stage name?
The best of a bad bunch!
Where do you find inspiration?
We love the bands and musicians that surround us, the community of bands that we festival with spur us on to give more each time we play. Friendly competition never hurt, eh? Though…we are always in pain!
What was the role of music in the early years of your life?
We’ve all come from differing backgrounds and differing sets of inspirations. We have all actively worked in other bands and projects to better ourselves as musicians, then we get to bring it together to create something hopefully unique and offer it to you lovely lot!
Are you from a musical or artistic family?
I am – I grew up watching my uncle and cousins perform their instruments and I wanted to have a go!
Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
Friends, family but we do this for us and the people that care about our music, the industry doesn’t really know us that well yet, we look forward to meeting it more!
How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
Lessons, listening to bands, watching bands – the usual…
What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
This is a struggle to remember! 1st solo venture was probably Oasis towards the end of their run, where I found Kasabian who were just power houses live and that’s where I really found the calling and need to do this on stage.
How could you describe your music?
Mad, lively, fun, loud, brash, in your face – its a party!
Describe your creative process.
Much like anyone else I’d imagine – an idea comes to the table from one person and we all add our personalities in through our parts, we love the studio and with recording the album we dug in deep with the newer material we tried to really find some new voices, new styles and ways to incorporate those who influence us – you can figure out who that is!
What is your main inspiration?
To have fun – be stupid and just give everyone a good time. We don’t take ourselves very seriously…
What musician do you admire most and why?
As a drummer, its hard to ignore Ian Matthews of Kasabian, he’s the reason I hit those tubs as hard as I do. Pure energy and power. The list is truly endless for us all though.
Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?
I’d like to say that this really is the beginning – we always develop and improve live, but Mother Vulture is only just getting started.
Who do you see as your main competitor?
We don’t see it this way – there’s a gap for everyone, we’ll just go out and do our thing and try put a smile on peoples faces.
What are your interests outside of music?
Who has time for anything else when you’re in a band?!
If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?
What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
I wouldn’t say this is a problem, but that leg up that you need from people within the industry is hard to find – not obsessed with this though, if we keep getting to do what we love and making people happy then we’re happy. If anyone wants to make us famous while we do this, that’d be great.
If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
Big question, I’m just the drummer….
Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
The latest single, ‘Monster Crunch’ came from our group chat, the demo of the song was posted and our singer, Georgi, just said those two words to describe the sound, the rest, as they say, is history.
What are your plans for the coming months?
We have a UK tour in December – dates to be found at www.mother…/tourdates
Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
Endless aspirations – we’ll let you look out for those.
What message would you like to give to your fans?
Just be happy and have fun, oh…and BUY OUR ALBUM
