Lewis Muller Talks About His Music Career And Shares Debut Single ‘Deny’

British singer-songwriter and composer Lewis Muller is based in London.

Lewis Muller, who has his feet firmly planted in the electronic pop genre, writes evocative songs by floating effortlessly over synthetic sounds that recall his early exposure to pop, R&B, and soul.

He draws influence from musicians such as Janet Jackson, Aphex Twin, and Sade, who combine elements of electronica, dance, and pop music.

The twenty-two-year-old electronic pop artist is reminiscent of artists such as Griff, Troye Sivan, and Rochelle Jordan in his dark and dreamy sound. Lewis Muller’s voyage into the pop world is about to take a dramatic turn in 2022, as he approaches his songs with a distinct sense of purity.

An interview with Music Arena Gh allows him to showcase his first track “Deny” and discuss his music career. Toxic relationships may be difficult to let go of, and “Deny” is a heartfelt song about that. In-person, he is as upbeat, kind, and relatable as he is on screen.

What is your real and showbiz name?
Lewis Muller is both my real and stage name!

Where are you from (hometown)
I’m originally from a small town in the Netherlands

How did you get into music?
I’ve always had a connection with music. My dad used to play the classics; Prince, Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston. When I was 12 or 13, I got an iPad as a gift and it had Garageband on it.

I remember making covers on it first, and slowly but surely I started making my own stuff. Vague concepts but I was having fun in my own world while doing it. Along the way, I met people who could really help me get to the next level

What field or genre are you into and give a brief description of what your
I’m very into experimental electronic music which ranges a lot since there are many sub-genres, but it’s definitely something you can hear back in my instrumentals.

Usually, my songs are within the electronic, pop or r&b realm because I’m so inspired by those sounds and artists. Vocally I’m very inspired by R&B/Soul vocalists like Mariah, Brandy, Sade and so much more. I also grew up with pop music, and that’s something you can easily hear in my music.

Who or what inspires you or motivates you? And why??
Mariah Carey was a big vocal inspiration to me. Just the way her voice is effortless, and her songwriting is genius too. I taught myself how to sing with the help of her songs when I was 14, even up until now. My family also inspires me. They have always been supportive of me even when I didn’t see a lot in myself.

What does your current song/album mean to you?
Deny is a song that I wrote 3 years ago but never finished because it was too personal to me. Recently though, I decided to complete it because it’s important for me to be able to process those hard feelings and move on.

It’s a song about a relationship where the person falls out of love with you and no longer means the things they said in the beginning. And you’re just left sitting there thinking, what am I doing? Why am I still chasing after someone like you?

But it’s complicated because you still have feelings for them so you want to try your hardest to believe that something can or will change for the better. But it doesn’t, and you have to put yourself first. So the song is about that feeling. It will be my debut single and that’s something that I’ve worked very hard for.

What do you do aside from this profession?
I work part-time to support myself. Being an independent artist can be a little tough sometimes but I’m willing to fight for that

What are your hobbies?
When I’m not singing and writing, cooking and spending time with my friends and family. I’m also into drawing, I did it as a kid but music kind of got in the way of that haha
