The song is jazzy music that celebrates the pleasures of living life to the fullest. Colley, an accomplished vocalist and performer, takes center stage in “On Top of the World,” demonstrating his diverse approach and exceptional vocal skills, which have won him accolades on projects for world-famous musicians and television shows with jubilant trumpets and a catchy tune.
LaVance Colley has created his own sound by combining the presence, range, and intensity of a Gospel vocalist with the flexibility of Jazz and the heart of R&B.
Beyonce Knowles, John Legend, Shawn Mendes, Pharrell Williams, Diana Ross, Lizzo, Director Robert Townsend, and Andy Grammer are just a handful of the luminaries he has worked with as a performer.
He has performed on the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars, under the musical supervision of Ray Chew, Ricky Minor, and Buster & Shavony (Grammy award winners for the “Prince of Egypt” album), as well as singing BGVs on The Voice.
LaVance is also well-known as the lead vocalist and emcee for Postmodern Jukebox, an international sensation. His live performances and studio sessions are absolutely remarkable, and many musicians in the business seek them out.
LaVance Colley’s love of music began when he was three years old, while he was listening to church music. He’s created his own sound by combining the presence, range, originality, and intensity of a gospel vocalist with the dexterity and ins and outs of Jazz and the heart of Rhythm and Blues.
By the age of 18, LaVance was performing backup vocals for recording artists such as Kenny Latimore and Chante Moore. He began travelling with them and learnt the ins and outs of the music business as a result of his involvement.
His talent has provided him with several possibilities, all of which LaVance accepts with the greatest humility.
Beyonce Knowles, singing backup for Pharrell Williams on Ellen Degeneres for the Hidden Figures movie, being the emcee/lead singer for Postmodern Jukebox, Diana Ross, Kat Graham, Shoshana Bean, Mary Mary, Shanice, Sy Smith, New Hip Hop artist Eamon, and Eric Roberson are just a few of his other artistic accomplishments.
All of which have benefited from this valuable voice’s soft background stylings. Ray Chew, Ricky Minor, and Buster and Shavony (Grammy award winners for the Prince of Egypt Sound Track) are all familiar with LaVance’s persona and talent, and have taken use of his unusual gift.
In 2013, LaVance was honored as a featured artist at the NAACP Theater Awards, which was a particularly memorable moment in his life. His participation and performance in the promotional campaign for the smash film “The Fighting Temptations” was another highlight of his career. Alongside Ms. Beyonce Knowles, graciously.
His most recent achievement is his performance as Ms Diana Ross’s backup singer on the Tsunami Victim Telethon.
LaVance had the pleasure to reside in Osaka, Japan from 2005 to 2008 and act in a variety of performances for Universal Studios Japan.
A memorial show to Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, was one of them. He spent his time there polishing his skill and prepared for the next step of his life.
Following his time in Japan, LaVance joined a band named Xpress, which toured Asia singing at five-star hotels as the lead singer, co-band leader, and vocal director.
He learned that being a good leader is just as crucial as singing onstage as a result of that experience.
With every note, this seductive and yet angelic voice captivates audiences throughout the world, commanding and sustaining their entire and undivided attention. Mr. Colley has conquered several challenges and is no stranger to devotion and hard work.
This self-made, self-driven, and self-sufficient vocalist believes in the power of perseverance and the heart. LaVance sings from the depths of his soul.
