Kurt is a Prague-based Chinese indie rock artist. He recently produced an album of music in the vein of Radiohead, Bon Iver, 80s sad songs. He started writing his own songs after the lockdown.

This inspired him greatly as he used this means to polish his songwriting skills. Every time he hits the stage to perform he goes by the name Language games

What is your stage name
Language Games

Is there a story behind your stage name?

I took some philosophy classes in college. One was all about Ludwig Wittgenstein. So I read the philosophical investigations and in one of part he talks about language games. I thought to myself that’s how I think about music and I like that name

Where do you find inspiration?

I don’t really think that muse for inspiration exists. I mean yes sometimes I’ll be just walking and here something in head. But I still have go out and work out the whole form later. It’s extremely rare for me to get a whole song. I found for myself I have to sit down everyday and write and when I do that I’ll get all the inspiration.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

I never really did music in school. Growing up I also like the doo wop and 50s stuff my mom played. In high school I liked the raw energy of metal bands of the time. Wasn’t till later on did I start listening to different things

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

No. No one in my family can play a lick. Though my dad loves music and listens all the time. Be cool to have some people to play with

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

I just love playing music and always trying to improve so that brought me to where I am.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

I was originally playing in bands in nyc. After COVID hit I lost my all my gigs. I didn’t want to be home and depressed . So I bought and rv and drove around the USA and the National parks. During that time, I wanted to learn to write my own songs so I spent every day doing that while seeing some awesome nature

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
I think when I was. Kid my dad took me to Chicago and Beach Boys that’s the earliest one I could remember

How could you describe your music?

Melancholic, Poppy, Dreamy, Ambient and Dark but just listen to it could be different to you

Describe your creative process.

I generally write a little everyday. I have to sit down and do it and try to put stuff together. It’s basically one giant puzzle piece. If I didn’t have some type of writing I would most likely lie in bed and watch old movies all day

What is your main inspiration?

Trying to improve my self everyday just get better

What musician do you admire most and why?

Honestly, I don’t really have one. It’s more the music I admire. Sometimes I listen to Classical, jazz, experimental so I’m just all over the place

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

Yes, a ton. It will also continue to evolve the more I search and try to improve.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

Myself. There are no competitors there’s only the rivals your put in your head. The more you find things that you value you realize that it’s only your thoughts as your rivals and we must beat them

What are your interests outside of music?

I like to read a lot. I love cinema and finding good movies. I also like to write from time to time

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

Most likely in an office wanting to die

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
Just my self doubt and not believing in myself.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

It’s a different beast now but for some of the majors to take chances on the artists. I get the budget isn’t the same. I really like to see labels grow with their artists so both can evolve

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

It’s a play. Each song is a scene of life and most of them are sad right now

What are your plans for the coming months?

Keep doing the things that make me happy and start playing this music live.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
