Know More About Posie And Her New Release

What happens when talent, creativity, and passion are combined? Wonderful music. And what qualities distinguish a great song? The lyrics.
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Posie, from Los Angeles, comes up with a new tune called “Cordelia.” The song “Cordelia” is a wonderful example of a classic folk/rock composition that evokes a dreamy mood. Listening to the song repeatedly is enticing because of the singer’s soothing vocals and well-composed lyrics.

What is your real name?
Jessica Joy Flamand

What’s your official Stage Name (showbiz name)?

What do you do (fashion, music, comedy, artist, dancer, etc.)?
I’m a singer, a songwriter, and an artist!

How did you get into what you do (music, modeling, art, dance, etc.?)
It’s been a very natural progression for me, I grew up with instruments around – taking guitar and piano lessons. Acoustic guitars multiplied into electric and nylon strings, drums and recording equipment appeared. I began writing around the age of thirteen and performing a couple of years later. My love for the craft continued to grow and it became clear to me that it’s what I’m meant to be doing. I moved to New York City when I was eighteen and met my now long-time collaborator Jeremy Rompala.

What field or genre are you into and give a brief description of what your career/profession/ field feels like?
As an independent musician who writes my own songs, I’m probably most easily classified in the indie/singer-songwriter world. It’s an exciting field to be in with so many creative minds putting out amazing music all the time. It takes a truly unique artist to stand out!

Who or what inspires you or motivates you? And why?
I’m inspired by lots of things! Typography, color theory, books books books, great art, open tunings. Anything where concept and form are at play. They all feed into my subconscious and return in some way through my imagination in songs. Lately I’ve been learning to ignore the idea of motivation and focus more on building habits. I recently came across a Chuck Close quote I really like, “Inspiration is for amateurs – the rest of us just show up and get to work…” I’ve been trying to adopt that mindset more.

What was your first project and the people you worked with and which year?
My first project was an EP I released in 2014 when I was seventeen entitled “The Lost Years.” It was a six track EP that I wrote entirely myself and recorded with Eric Lichter at his studio Dirt Floor in Connecticut.

You can follow Posie on : Website, Twitter, Spotify, YouTube and Instagram.

How many projects do you have so far?
To date I’ve released three EP’s and about a dozen singles as a solo artist and as part of a duo with Jeremy. I’m looking forward to when I’m able to put out my first album!

How long have you been doing what you do?
It feels like forever! Nearly a decade I’d say.

Have you won any awards or been nominated for an award? Or in short, any achievement? Both in and out of your career path.
Before I chose to pursue building a career out of my passion for music I played tennis at a very high level, competing on the junior international tour. I saw lots of kids pushed too hard and as a result burned out young. I myself was one of them, having career-ending shoulder surgery at the age of fourteen. Ranked nationally and internationally I won multiple regional tournaments. With music I have tried to focus less on the ways the business can turn art into a competition and more on my own measurements of success: writing better songs, becoming a better recording artist, creating magical live shows. If over the years my work came to be recognized by peers and fans in any way, that would be an honor.

What is this new release about?
Cordelia is a song for young women and girls who feel like they have a type of secret power to guard. I love using unique female names for titles, this being a nod to the daughter in Shakespeare’s King Lear. My writing partner and I started a melody together that had the opening line “She’s heaven/ she looks like a fallen angel” over it and immediately a whole visual soundscape came together of a medieval princess living in Los Angeles. I’d go for walks after writing sessions in Silverlake and the winding roads there have lots of fruit trees, stained glass windows, and eclectic stone houses that I’d picture her living in hidden away from the world.

Who and how many people worked on it?
Currently I write and produce all of my music with my partner, Jeremy Rompala, out of our home studio in Los Angeles. Just the two of us.

What can your previous and new audiences anticipate from you in the future?
I’m excited to continue releasing lots of new music in 2022, with a single planned to come out in the first few months of the year. Looking forward I would love to be touring, performing live is one of my favorite things about being a musician! I can’t wait to be playing shows and connecting with audiences in person again.

Conclusion – Music is part of our lives and it’s a form of expression, like feelings put into words and melody and has been a part of many cultures throughout time. This piece is amazingly good and it does great justice to the classic folk/ rock genre.
