Winner of multiple Grammys Kabir Sehgal and renowned sarodists Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Bangash have released a stunning album. The artists included elements from both East and West into their work. They found inspiration in the many works of Lebanese writer and painter Kahlil Gibran. Almost all of the tunes on the album are titled after Gibran’s generational works. Classical Indian music is blended with jazz harmonies and trap drumming to create a unique sound. Nominated for a Latin Grammy for her voice, Claudia Acuna and Tivon Pennicott, Malini Aswathi, and Sudha Raghunanthan all appear as special guests (vocals).
“Sand And Foam” explores themes of identity, belonging, and self-discovery, all while bringing to the forefront Gibran’s enlightening and inspirational insights into how one might enrich one’s life through a variety of global sounds.
Additionally, the theatrical new album marks the first time that the seventh-generation Indian music duo and American record producer and New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling novelist Kabir Sehgal have worked together. The talented trio were able to create a masterpiece of an eight-track compilation that blends Indian classical music with jazz harmonies, trap percussion, and neo-synth sounds.
