I Am Not Trying To Sound Nigerian – Mista Myles

Singer/ songwriter Mista Myles on Day Break Hitz on Hitz Fm addressed misconceptions regarding how he sounds. In his interview on the show, Andy Dosty who is the host asked the singer if he had heard people say he was trying to sound Nigerian in his songs.

In a response, Mista Myles stated that he has never tried to sound Nigerian and that, it is how his voice has been for as long as he can remember.

“I was born in Lagos Nigeria so it’s not like I am intentionally trying to sound like Nigerian. Back in Nigeria my Dad used to play Ghanaian music and at home, we mostly spoke pidgin, a lil Ga and Ewe from when some relatives visit.

I’ve never thought I was trying to sound Nigerian but I get that a lot and I really don’t get bothered anymore cause its like telling a Dark Skin person to change their colour.” – Mista Myles

He went on to state that whenever he is making music he makes music the way he feels he wants to make it and has always found it surprising that he sounds like a Nigerian and in most cases like Mr Eazi or Burna Boy.

He admitted that it made him feel bad at a point in time but he has now understood that regardless of what you do people will always have opinions and he respects them. You can listen to his new song  “Die For You” below.
