What’s your official stage name and why did you choose it?

My official stage name is Zahkia. This is the name of one of my relatives on my Lebanese side. It is such a beautiful name that I had to use it.

Follow Zahkia on: Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

What got you into music?

From a very young age, music was a way for me to escape reality and create new ones. It gave me a positive outlet when certain life experiences and situations weren’t ideal. It kept me moving forward and made me feel good when the people and environments didn’t.

How would you describe the music you typically create?

The music I create expands beyond style and genre. It comprises a multitude of genres but is usually high energy and vocal forward. I have a lot of energy and I like to display that in the music I write.

Which song do you feel is the best music you’ve ever released and why?

“Enough” was my first release as a solo artist and I love that this song explores the feelings we can struggle with on the day to day, while giving us an opportunity to see the strength we each possess within us.

What feelings or reactions do you hope to arouse in people who listen to your music? Are you surprised by the reactions you get?

I want the people that listen to my music to be excited and inspired to be their most authentic selves and to be encouraged to transform themselves into the best version of themselves that they can be. When I first released “Enough”, I was surprised at how many people came to me saying that the song brought them to tears. That it touched them in such a way, and that they felt comfortable enough, and compelled, to tell me what it meant to them.

If you could have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?

I’d like to be remembered for my energetic, kind, and passionate nature.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet has impacted the music business in a plethora of ways, positive and negative. It is difficult to cover it all the ways it has impacted, but I feel that it has given artists and musicians more control over their artistry and made it easier for them to share their music without the help of a label. In turn, there is a lot of music out there, so monetization of a single or an album through streams isn’t always as lucrative as it once was.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I am a huge fan of things that are in the realm of the paranormal and supernatural. I love learning new theories on these topics. It’s fascinating to study things that we have yet to understand, and analyze how those things coincide with different cultural beliefs and traditions.

Which famous musicians do you admire?

I have always admired and been in awe of Whitney Houston. Her powerful voice and incredible vocal control always gives me chills. definitely a fan!

Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

My favorite part about being a musician is the ability to communicate with anyone through music, regardless of language. It’s such a beautiful and amazing thing. Although I love being a musician, I think it can, sometimes, make you hyper analyze a piece of music, which sort of stops you from just enjoying it.

What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next 5 to 10 years?

I plan on growing my artistry and diversifying my music through writing and collaborating with other artists and producers.

What is this new release about?

This song is about the struggle many people face when it comes to feeling inadequate. It’s about looking inward, especially when there seems to be no positive end in sight, and seeing ourselves through a lens of compassion and care.

Who and how many people worked on it?

There are 4 writers on the song, CJ Washington, Jesse Hanes, Jesse Szabo, and myself.

What are you working on next? Any future plans or projects in the pipeline that we should look out for?

I am currently putting together show dates and getting all the right people together for my next release, which is going to be out this year. The song is heavily rock influenced and high energy. I am very excited about this project so definitely be on the lookout!

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Fuck it. Whatever it is that you’re afraid of, fuck it. Do it anyway. Go towards the things that frighten you. “When you do what you’ve always done, you get what you always got”. Most things that are worth anything isn’t going to be situated nicely in your comfort zone.

Young and vibrant man I am, God fearing, warm at heart. Music is bae food is life. If you've seen this then you know me!!!
