What’s your official stage name and why did you choose it?

Ego.0ff-A play on the phrase ‘He go off’ and a statement of humility…”turn love on and your ego off.

When did you decide to pursue music as a career?

I’ve always known I wanted a career in music. It’s been about 7 years since I decided to go all in…


How would you describe the music you typically create?

A poetic rebellion rooted in rap…


Who (living or dead) inspires you as an artist and why?

Nas and Black Thought, two examples of relentless perfection of a CRAFT.


What’s your creative process like?

My creative process is a daily routine that starts at 8 o’clock every morning with a coffee, a J, and a beat lol.

What feelings or reactions do you hope to arouse in people who listen to your music? Are you surprised by the reactions you get?

I try to invoke the “a.i.m.” theory in my music, aspiration/ inspiration/ and motivation.


What is the best advice you’ve been given in relation to music?

Know yourself and BE yourself at all times.


Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I’m an aspiring firearms instructor, I enjoy trying my hand at creative forms from podcasting to public speaking. I also enjoy traveling and sports.


What has been the high point of your career so far?

Teaching the creative writing and hip-hop history class I designed for at-risk kids.


Which musician would you like to collaborate with?

Off the top? Russ, I respect the shit outta what he’s done for the independent musician!


If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The artist should be his or her own business, the labels should serve as subcontractors on an as-needed basis. You shouldn’t need thousands upon thousands of dollars to break through the wall to get fans of your music.


What is this new release about?

Thin the Herd is about craftsmanship and growth, musically and mentally.


Who and how many people worked on it?

Damntommy (engineer), Majic (producer), MVO-Rell (artist) all local to the Washington DC area.


What are you working on next? Any future plans or projects in the pipeline that we should look out for?

My creative writing and hip-hop history course (Flash-Caz) just kicked off. Extremely excited about it, the next album will be the first of many collaborations with upcoming artist MVO-Rell called “the Apprentice” dropping in July.


If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

We are exactly where we’re supposed to be…now keep going!
