Get Ready To Be Electrified By Elad David

Today Elad David is out with ELECTRIFIED which is also the title of the 3rd song off his new EP. It is not surprising Elad David can produce great music. Elad grew up in a home surrounded by other creatives , this gave him the zeal to follow his passion.

At 15 he was already playing the guitar, he took group classes in guitar but later switched to private lessons to harness his craft. At the same time he was also singing and playing in the choir at school and he also had a band.

Been recruited into the army couldn’t quench Elad’s love for music, and after the army he studied at the “Rimon” school of jazz and contemporary music for 3 years.

When asked about his new project, this is what he had to say

Electrified is more Rock/fusion vibe and includes a saxophone, a lot of samples. kind of like a crazy video game soundtrack with a crazy guitar solo. I’m doing everything myself in my home studio. Composition, production, recording, mixing & mastering. I hope you’ll like it too. 🙂

Elad David made more revelations about his life and been a musician in an interview with Mister Styx of musicarenagh

What is your stage name

My name is Elad David. I don’t have a special nickname or a stage name 🙂

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration can come from many different fields and directions. It can come from other music that I listen to, because I am constantly updating and following new music that comes out. From my family and my partner. Can come from movies or series I watch, from hobbies I have like painting and art, from philosophy and different cultures, from conversations with friends and also just thoughts and conversations with myself.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

I remember myself already in Kindergarten going up and singing in front of all the children and parents. Music has always been there for me. Even at a very young age I learned the Recorder and Organ, but it wasn’t until around the age of 12 that I got the guitar and was really drawn into the world of music. Also my father and big sister was playing instruments & was listening to a lot of music growing up, so there was always music around the house.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

The truth is, we are all very artistic people. My father was a sculptor, painter and also played music in his youth. My mother also sews, knits and is very creative. And my brother and sisters are very talented, especially in the field of art and painting.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

I started playing the guitar following my best friend who played a little at the time. And since I started playing and performing (already at the age of 15) my dream and my plan was to engage in music professionally.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

I learned to play at first in group lessons after school, and then I switched to private lessons. At the same time I was also singing and playing in the choir at school and I also had a band. So until I was recruited to the army I played a lot and also sing. And after the army I studied at the “Rimon” school of jazz and contemporary music for 3 years. And I’m constantly learning new stuff, practicing and improving.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?

It’s a bit hard to remember what was the first concert. I guess it was a performance by someone Israeli. Maybe a performance by the “Hayehudim” band. But among the most important and best concerts I’ve been to, I can mention Dio (RIP), and White Snake.

How could you describe your music?

My music is very diverse. I am influenced and love a lot of styles. But also always trying to bring something original. My first album, for example, is a combination of acoustic and electric tracks, a combination of classic rock, fusion, world music and more…

I also released a ukulele album with special arrangements I made of very familiar pieces. And the new tracks are a special project, a combination of electronic beat with rock guitars, synths, Samples and wind instruments. And actually Electrified is the third single from the EP, that will be released in October.

Describe your creative process.

It changes, most of my ideas come when I’m just sitting with the guitar and jamming to myself. I usually record or film the ideas on my iPhone. If something is really good and I decide to work on it, then I record it properly and continue from there.
Specifically with the new album, it all started because my brother had to make an experimental podcast episode for college, and asked if he could record the episode in my studio.

So of course I agreed and also offered to write him music for the opening of the podcast. From there, I had a really good idea in my head. I sat at the computer and started programming the beat, and it just flowed out. I finished writing and recording everything in two hours. The next day I already made a mix. And because I really liked the result and the style, I deqecided to release a whole EP in this style.

What musician do you admire most and why?

Too many musicians. from a lot of different styles. mention a few: Yngwie Malmsteen (the one who made me want to play guitar), Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Ritchie Blackmore. and later also from other styles such as George Benson, Al Di Meola, Mike Stern, Joe Pass, John Coltrane, Bill Evans and many many more.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

I think my style evolved a lot. Mainly in terms of maturity. Today I try to put more emphasis on sound, melody, breathing space and originality.

Who do you see as your main competitor?

I used to take it very hard, and even suffer from competitiveness. Today I don’t think and feel like that at all. Music is an art, it’s not a competition. There are so many talented musicians and so many styles and there is always room to learn and develop more. There is no end to it. I simply appreciate more, those who really create original and unique things.

What are your interests outside of music?

Besides music, I am also a fitness trainer, I maintain a healthy lifestyle and also practice martial arts. I also really like drawing, origami and sculpting. And I also enjoy a good movie 🙂

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

If not music than probably a martial arts instructor.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

The biggest problem for me is the financial difficulty. Especially as an independent musician in a country that is not very supportive of musicians or independents in general.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

On the one hand, I really miss the era of CDs, when we used to go and buy something very specific and really invest and listen to it many times.

On the other hand I do like the direction we are going, there are many advantages to having all the music I could ever want in my pocket. And you can reach the whole world in a much easier and simpler way.

On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to the whole reality culture, that everything is fast and passing fashion.

What are your plans for the coming months?

4th single will be released next month. and the full EP in october. I also have a lot of activity with my band. And of course continues to work on new material for my next album.

I would love to jam with Nuno Bettencourt 😉

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Always be yourself, don’t try to imitate others, take inspiration from others and create something real. And of course for giving up on your dreams.
