Geoff Gibbons Out With “Waitin’ On a Train”

Initiated from the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada The many hats that Geoff Gibbons wears as a musician, recording artist, record producer, studio owner, recording engineer, and director provide a window into his lifelong devotion to the craft of making and performing popular music.

Geoff is a member of Canada’s New Yank Yorkies, a roots/Americana band composed of top Canadian session players with an impressive record of collective credits, in addition to his extensive catalogue of full-length releases, EP’s, singles, and videos as a solo artist. KasoGems, the pair Geoff forms with singer-songwriter Vicky Sjohall, creates a reflective atmosphere with their original compositions and inventive renditions.

The lyrics that Gibbons uses to annotate his songs are full of metaphor and rife with conflict and contradiction. He’s been singing for a long time, so his voice has a lot of depth and soul. He recalls, “I was a vocalist from an early age. When I was nine years old, my mother enrolled me in the BC (British Columbia) Boys Choir, where I eventually rose to the position of soloist. When I was 11 years old, I went to Europe with a choir and recorded albums with them. When I was pushed out in front of a huge crowd at a concert in Rotterdam, Holland, I was terrified.”

The idea for Geoff’s latest Americana hit, “Waitin’ On a Train,” came to him during one of those sleepless nights when your mind wanders and your ideas “flood your head,” all while you lie awake waiting for sleep to arrive so you can catch the train to the next day.

Geoff has performed for several famous musicians over his career, including Emmy-Lou Harris, T-Bone Burnette, David Crosby, Levon Helm, and Rick Danko. His songs are in the same vein as those of Americana singer-songwriters like Jackson Browne, Ryan Adams, and The Jayhawks.
