E!ena Talks About Her Debut Single Bittersweet In A Interview

E!ena has always been passionate about music since infancy. She started writing my own songs when I was just 7 years old, she later picked up the guitar and started playing the guitar when she was 10.

Although she recently started making music professionally E!ena’s music doesn’t sound like a newbie, thanks to all the experience she has picked over a period of time.

In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh, she spoke about her new incoming single titled ‘Bittersweet’, the song encompasses both the feelings of anxiety and relief that come with understanding personal identity.

This song is a great representation of what it felt like to come to terms with and understand my own sexuality. Moreover, it embodies the stress that accompanies growing up and adjusting to life on your own.

What is your stage name?

E!ena

Is there a story behind your stage name?

Honestly, no. It just looks kind of cool and I wanted something to set me apart from other artists named ‘Elena’.

Where do you find inspiration?

My music is inspired by my own life experiences. In terms of style, my greatest influences are Billie Eilish, Clairo, and Amy Winehouse.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

I have been passionate about music since I was a toddler. I always need to have music playing in the background. I started playing guitar when I was 10 and writing my own songs when I was 7.

Are you from a musical or artistic family?

My mom used to play guitar and was really into singing, but never pursued it as a career.

Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

My own passion for music, as well as friends and family who have encouraged me to pursue it again after a long hiatus between high school and college.

How did you learn to sing/write/to play?

I started learning classical acoustic guitar when I was around 10 – that wasn’t for me. I switched over to classic rock and pop music using acoustic guitar when I was around 13. I pretty much just taught myself how to write lyrics and guitar melodies.

I recently expanded my knowledge of creating catchy melodies through guitar lessons that I began taking about a year ago. With regard to vocals, I’ve taken vocal lessons here and there but have never really stuck with them.

What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
Hannah Montana when I was about 8. I was an avid fan.

How would you describe your music?

It’s kind of a combination of genres. A bit of alternative pop, indie, jazz and soft pop rock.

Describe your creative process.

I usually come up with lyrics randomly throughout the day while at work and write them down in my notes on my phone, or if I happen to be home, then in my lyric journal. Eventually, I play around with different chord progressions to find one that suits the lyrics well.

After completing the lyrics and guitar rhythm and melody, I begin producing in my bedroom using Logic Pro on my laptop. The songwriting process usually takes me about a week or two while producing takes me much longer, as I’m still learning how to use Logic.

What is your main inspiration?

I have to say that the desire to share my thoughts, feelings and experiences with the hope of connecting with listeners is my main inspiration.

What musician do you admire most and why?

Definitely Billie Eilish. She is an incredibly talented pianist, songwriter, and vocalist with astonishing stage presence. I truly aspire to be like her with regard to my vocal skills and ability to perform live.

Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career?

This is the beginning of my career, so I guess we will see!

Who do you see as your main competitor?

Like I said, I am just starting out and don’t really view anyone as competition at the moment. I just hope to create music that people connect with.

What are your interests outside of music?

I used to play ice hockey in college so I’m into hitting the ice when I can, as well as watching hockey games. I love art such as oil painting, acrylics and watercolors, as well. I was also a Neuroscience major in college and currently have aspirations of working in the medical field.

If it wasn’t a music career, what would you be doing?

I would probably be a physician or physician’s assistant, which I will be pursuing along with music!

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

Figuring out how the hell to use Logic Pro. I have also found promoting my music to be pretty difficult.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

How much we get paid per stream…

Why did you choose this as the title of this project?

I chose “Bittersweet” because the song focuses on both the ‘bitter’ and ‘sweet’ aspects of figuring out who you are and what you’re doing.

What are your plans for the coming months?

I am currently working on a third single with a friend and will hopefully have an EP out by the middle of next year.

Do you have any artistic collaboration plans?

I have been in contact with several artists, but have no concrete plans yet.

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Feel free to reach out via Instagram (@e.avradop) if you are interested in collaborating, or are just a fan of my music! I love meeting and learning from new people! 🙂
