DESH.DUBS Unleashes New Tune “Dubstar”

About DESH.DUBS

Desh.Dubs works as an artist, researcher, and activist. From an early age, he made a name for himself in the rap scene, where he collaborated and worked with established acts like the Black-Pact, the Rap Prophets, and the Zambezi Symphony.

Together, they had an impact that was felt far beyond Zambia’s borders with their iconic songs and performances. As of 2006, he was a member of the ArtScience Department at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (the Netherlands), the Royal Conservatory, and the Media Department at the University of Leiden, where he studied both visual and musical arts.

Desh.Dubs extended his involvement with the school by earning a master’s degree in African studies. He has persisted in his critical examination of the academy and its function in society by researching the ways in which African Studies have interpreted aspects of African heritage such as the performing arts, oral history, indigenous knowledge, etc.

About The Release “Dubstar”

In the wake of the success of “Moye,” dESH.DUBS comes back with “DUBSTAR,” the second single off his forthcoming album. Clearly influenced by the Africa/UK Drill genre, DUBSTAR is a belligerent Afro-reggae-style drill single with soothing guitar melodies, harsh drill bass, and war-like vocal lines.

While most Drill MCs like fast tempos, dESH’s flow is energising and inventively sluggish, allowing his harsh, deep voice to do the toasting. The DUBSTAR song primarily conveys the artist’s strong disdain for both pagan (dubious) individuals and the Babylonian political and economic system (the corrupted, capitalist, colonial world system).

DUBSTAR was produced by Viper Beats London, UK, engineered by Mosound Studio, Zoetermeer, NL and mastered by his longtime collaborator Statinski, Amsterdam NL.
