Chinese Villagers Burys Man with A Car
A request by a Chinese man in his will must have driven his surviving relatives mad. Instead of a coffin, the man asked to be buried in his beloved car.
The video, filmed in Baoding City near Beijing on May 28, shows an excavator slowly lowering an old Hyundai Sonata, inside which is a dead villager – named in local only as Qi – into a supersized grave. Mourners stand around to help guide the car into place and pay their respects.
According to, Qi was a car lover and he specified in his will that he wanted to be laid to rest inside his silver Sonata instead of a coffin. The car was reportedly around 10-years-old and worth around £1,170.
