Ava Della Pietra‘s first memory of performing in front of an audience was when she was just four years old and she sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” When viewed in retrospect, the ‘dreams that she dreamed of’ have in fact come to fruition.
By the time she was six years old, she already had a theatrical agent, and by the time she was seven, she had already appeared in 27 cities across the country in the role of Little Cosette as part of the 25th Anniversary National touring production of Les Misérables.
Soon after that, Ava was a part of the touring cast of White Christmas for a period of two months, and when she was ten years old, she made her Broadway debut as a member of the original cast of School of Rock.
Ava Della Pietra, an actress on Broadway who also sings and writes music, has released her highly anticipated debut EP, titled “truth or truth,” today. Including five original songs that have been featured by a variety of media outlets, ranging from Just Jared Jr. to Hollywood Life.
In honour of the extended play, Della Pietra has just released its newest single, “depend on me,” an empowering ballad that is all about having confidence in oneself. After establishing herself on the Broadway stage as a member of the original Broadway cast of School of Rock, Ava has since established herself as one of the most promising young artists currently working in the pop music industry.
Songwriting and performing have always come naturally to Ava, and she can remember that this has been the case for as long as she can remember. She has performed at the Sundance Film Festival, the Great South Bay Music Festival, and even at Madison Square Garden in front of 20,000 Knicks fans. She has been featured on shows such as Good Morning America and Sesame Street.
Ava was recently recognised as the 2021 winner of the New York State School Music Association Calls for Creators Competition ‘Songwriters Showcase’ for her songs “Optimist” and “Moon.” Additionally, she was awarded the second place prize in the New York Young Performer’s Prize competition for her performance of the song “Popular” from the musical Wicked.
Now, with the release of ‘Truth or Truth,’ Ava focused on a more organic path, even as she prepares for the release of an album that will focus more on pop over the course of the next year.
Ava has written more than 130 songs, the majority of which were written while she was quarantined on Long Island with her family and worked on in collaboration with producer Will Hicks (who has worked with Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, and Beyoncé), as well as producers Steven Martinez, Adrian Gurvitz (who has worked with Andra Day and Ziggy Marley), and Jimmy Greco.
