London based Electro-Pop artist Andrei Lucas is back with his new single ’90’s Summer Cool’. The follow up to his debut EP ‘Paradise Passé’, the songwriter and producer take inspiration from his multicultural background having grown up in Romania, learning English in Canada in his early teens and now living in the UK.
A constant source of musical inspiration, his background allows him to draw upon his many influences and give his music a distinctive sound. Bringing together nu-disco and indie-pop with a few elements of the early 2000s, 90’s Summer Cool is a track produced with the intent to trigger a nostalgic feeling and an uplifting, positive vibe. Bringing together giant washing synths with bopping bass and punching electronic beats with Andrei’s trademark smokey delivery to create an upbeat, 90’s pop-inspired summer anthem.
Speaking on the new single Andrei said: “The track came about as an inspiration from music in the early 2000s. I’ve always been inspired by that era in pop culture and music and wanted to recreate that vibe. The production is inspired by the likes of Jodeci, Prince, Gwen Stefani and Daft Punk – I wanted 90’s Summer Cool to have a twist from the source of inspiration and mix both nostalgic 90’s sounds with contemporary pop.” Andrei has been on a breathtaking journey to get to where he is now: immigrating from a post-communist culture to a western world, going through chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer, the subsequent mental health struggles and finding light at the end of the tunnel and learning to enjoy the simple things in life.
Across his previous EP and all his new material, Andrei demonstrates remarkable defiance to continue his art through sincere and emotional songwriting and relatable, catchy pop music. Having previously gained radio play across the US before taking a break from music to recover, Andrei has since gained rave reviews from the likes of Purple Melon, XS Noize and Music-News.
