With their new joint upbeat pop track “Need Your Love,” hitmakers Alex Hosking and UK Producer Majestic have joined forces.
Need Your Love is a dance smash with crossover potential thanks to its frenetic mix of deep, low-slung bass, euphoric piano chords, and Alex’s distinctive vocals. As a co-writer and featured vocalist on PS1’s “Fake Friends” and “Life Goes On,” two songs that have gathered over 90 million combined streams and topped the UK charts, Australian Alex Hosking has already made a significant impression as a songwriter. A-lists from NOVA, KIIS FM, and the Hit Network in Australia, as well as BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Capital Radio in the United Kingdom, attested to her enormous crossover appeal. She reflects on how the song came to be.
‘Rasputin’ is Majestic’s viral reimagining of the Boney M euro-disco classic, and it has amassed over 200 million global streams, peaked at #11 on the UK Singles charts, and made it onto the A-list on BBC Radio 1, Capital FM, and iHeart. ‘Losing My Mind’ is Majestic’s collaboration with dance music legend Nightcrawlers.
The song “Need Your Love” was written near the beginning of the pandemic. Alex and her American lover recently broke up. The first line, “sometimes I wonder if I had to, could I ever let you go?” was written to reflect on the difficulty of saying goodbye to her partner while he was away at college. Now fast forward to when Alex returned to London, the first in-person session she had was with Majestic! Together they hung out, created a song, and had a meal; she then played him “Need Your Love,” and he promptly requested a copy be delivered to him so he could produce it.
Majestic has collaborated with artists such as Sigma, DJ EZ, MJ Cole, Judge Jules, and Laidback Luke, and he performs across a wide range of dance music styles, from UK Garage and house to D&B and dubstep. Known as LIMITLESS, he was the first to combine a concert with a rave, and his five London gigs quickly sold out. He then brought the concept to the famous club BCM in Mallorca, as well as to Ibiza and Malia. Remixing music by artists such as Craig David, Preditah, Kaskade, and many more, he has proven his skill as a top-tier producer. Announcing the new album, Majestic said, “Need Your Love is a dance ballad that offers you the vibrations for the club as well as the feeling to scream into your hairbrush while getting ready!”
It’s not surprising that a song like “Need Your Love” would sound amazing when worked on by two of the best pop musicians in the world.
